"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

Today we are talking about LIES. Most of us are or have been plagued by lies, some from just being a woman. Lies are destructive and defeating. Lies about priorities, marriage, family, emotions or sin invade our spirits if we let them.

What is a lie that you have believed in the past (or even currently), and why do you think you believed that lie? Find a verse in God’s Word to combat the lie.

I guess that there are so many lies I believed throughout my life. Lies, that at the time, I felt were the truth. It took me and perhaps still is taking me time to heal and be restored from those LIES!

I guess the two lies that I will focus on that I believed from early on are:
1st) You are not worthy, your value lies in....
2nd) You are "the problem"... which I then tried to deal with through counseling!

I will ONLY WRITE on the 2nd ONE this time:(
[Sorry it got so long. Sometimes when I write, it just keeps coming]
I will learn someday soon that LESS is BETTER!

Marriage counseling is GREAT! But for me, marriage counseling takes two working on their issues. It is good for me to focus on what I need to fix in me but somehow working out conflicts and serious issues that need to be resolved is a matter of good communication!

I believed this lie #2 and others because I felt that perhaps indeed I do have a problem...not I am a problem, all that being repeatedly told to me...did not change the situation. Yes, I made many mistakes and poor choices...some even pretty serious sins, which I repented from after confessing.

Forgiveness was spoken, but not really sincere. I was told that I'm my own worse critic. Perhaps that is why I had such a hard time forgiving myself! I worked through Neil T. Anderson's book and I was in a Recovery group, though I had not been a substance abuser of any kind...it helped to have a support group.

My problem: I have Bipolar Disorder (someone said) but
Jesus tells me that I have been given a SOUND MIND!

I had my highs (mania) and lows (depression)
but I thought they were just my mood swings.
Not only did I claim this verse...
to begin to overcome...
but many verses of

2 Timothy 1:7
From Amplified

1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm {and} well-balanced mind {and} discipline {and} self-control
This has been my saving verse together with the Grace & Mercy of Christ Jesus!

I have not been on any medication since the early 90s,
because I believe that God's Word is my daily medicine
(though I certainly am NOT recommending that people on medicine, seeing a psychologist/psychiatrist/ counselor/ therapist/ spiritual leader just STOP...ohhhh no NEVER)
... but for me, I need to
put on the full armor of Christ:
guarding my MIND with the helmet of salvation,
placing the BELT OF TRUTH around me,
taking up the breastplate of Christ's righteousness to cover my heart,
walking in the shoes of peace: an inner peace that only Christ can give me,
and picking up the Sword of the Spirit:
God's Word to defend me against those LIES
and all the other situations that are thrown at me or others around me.
I confess and speak forth God's Truths:

What I believe:
Peggy Is Valuable. (12)
John 1:12 Peggy is God's daughter.
But Peggy received Him, and to Peggy He gave the right to become God's daughter,
because Peggy believes in His name.

John 15:5 Peggy is a part of the true vine,
and a channel of Christ's life. I am the vine. Peggy is a branch. If Peggy remains in Me, and I in her, she will bear much fruit, for apart from Me, Peggy can do nothing.

John 15:15 Peggy is a friend of Christ.
No longer do I call Peggy a servant, for a servant doesn't know what her lord does. But I have called Peggy a friend, for everything that I heard from My Father,
I have made known to Peggy.

Rom. 8:17 Peggy is a joint heir with Christ, she shares Christ's inheritance with Him. And if a daughter, then an heir; an heir of God, and a joint-heir with Christ; if indeed Peggy suffers with Him, that Peggy may also be glorified with Him.

I Cor. 3:9 Peggy is God's co-worker.
For Peggy is one of God's fellow workers.
Peggy is God's field, God's building.

I Cor. 3:16 Peggy is God's temple.
Don't you know that Peggy is a temple of God, and that God's Spirit lives in her?

Eph. 1:5-6 Peggy has been adopted by God as His daughter.
Having predestined Peggy for adoption as a daughter through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His desire, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He freely bestowed favor on Peggy in the Beloved.

Eph. 1:11 Peggy has an inheritance in Christ.
In Him also Peggy was assigned an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all
things after the counsel of His will.

Eph. 2:5-6 Peggy has been made alive with Christ and
she is seated with Christ in the heavenly places.
Even when Peggy was dead in her trespasses,
God made her alive together with Christ (by grace Peggy has been saved), and raised Peggy up with Him and made Peggy to sit with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Eph. 2:10 Peggy is God's workmanship, His handiwork.
For Peggy is His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared before that Peggy should walk in them.

Col. 1:27 Christ Himself is in Peggy.
To whom God was pleased to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in Peggy, the hope of glory.

Col. 3:3 Peggy 's life is hidden with Christ in God.
For Peggy died, and her life is hidden with Christ in God.

Peggy Is Loved. (8)
John 3:15-16 Peggy has eternal life in Christ.
Peggy, believing in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved Peggy , that He gave His one and only Son, that Peggy, believing in Him, should not perish, but have eternal life.

John 3:18 Peggy is not judged by God, because she is in Christ.
If Peggy believes in Him, she is not judged. But if Peggy doesn't believe, she has been judged already, because she has not believed in the name of the only born Son of God.

John 15:9 Peggy remains in Christ's love.
Even as the Father has loved Me, I also have loved Peggy. Peggy must remain in My love. If Peggy keeps My commandments, she will remain in My love; even as I have kept My Father's commandments, and remain in His love.

Rom. 8:14-15 Peggy is a daughter of God.

For if Peggy is led by the Spirit of God, she is a daughter of God. For Peggy didn't receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but Peggy received the Spirit of adoption, by whom she cries, "Abba! Father!"

Rom. 8:35-37,39 Peggy cannot be separated from the love of God. Who shall separate Peggy from the love of Christ?
Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Even as it is written,
"For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter." For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate Peggy from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus, Peggy's Lord.

Ephesians 3:12 Peggy may approach God with boldness and confidence. In whom Peggy has boldness and confident access through her faith in Him.

Col. 1:13-14 Peggy has been rescued from the domain of Satan's rule
and transferred to the kingdom of Christ.
The Father delivered Peggy out of the power of darkness,
and translated her into the kingdom of the Son of His love.

Heb. 4:16 Peggy may come boldly before the throne of grace
through Jesus Christ to receive mercy.
Let Peggy therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace,
that she may receive mercy, and may find grace in time of need.

Peggy Is Victorious. (8)

John 8:31-32 Peggy has been set free.
If Peggy remains in My word, then she is truly My disciple. Peggy will know the truth,
and the truth will make her free.

Rom. 6:1-4 Peggy died with Christ and she died to the power of sin's rule over her life. What shall we say then? Shall Peggy continue in sin, that grace may abound? May it never be!
If Peggy died to sin, how could she live in it any longer? Or don't you know that when Peggy was baptized into Christ Jesus, she was baptized into His death? Peggy was buried with Him through baptism to death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father,
so Peggy also might walk in newness of life.

Rom. 8:37 Peggy is more than a conqueror in Christ.
No, in all these things, Peggy is more than a conqueror through Him who loved her.

II Cor. 2:14 Peggy is led triumphantly by Christ.
But thanks be to God, who always leads Peggy in triumph in Christ, and reveals through Peggy the sweet aroma of His knowledge in every place.

Gal. 2:20 Peggy was crucified with Christ.
Peggy has been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer Peggy who lives, but Christ living in her. That life which Peggy now lives in the flesh, she lives by faith in the Son of God, who loved Peggy, and gave Himself up for her.

Phil. 4:13 Peggy can do all things through Christ.
Peggy can do all things through Christ, who strengthens her.

II Tim. 1:7 Peggy has been given a spirit of power, love and self-discipline.
For God didn't give Peggy a spirit of fear,
but of power and love and self-discipline (or a sound mind).

I John 5:4-5 Peggy has overcome the world.
For Peggy is born of God and overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: Peggy's faith. Peggy overcomes the world because she believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

Peggy Is Complete. (7)
I Cor. 6:17 Peggy is joined with Christ, and she is one spirit with Him. But if Peggy is joined to the Lord, she is one spirit with the Lord.

II Cor. 5:17 Peggy is a new creation.
Therefore if Peggy is in Christ, she is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.

II Cor. 5:21 Peggy is the righteousness of God in Christ.
For Him who knew no sin He made to be sin on Peggy's behalf; so that in Him
Peggy might become the righteousness of God.

Eph. 1:3 Peggy has been blessed with every spiritual blessing.
Blessed be the God and Father of Peggy 's Lord, Jesus Christ,
who has blessed Peggy with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.

Phil. 2:5-7 Peggy has Christ's mind.
Have this in your mind, Peggy , which also was in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, didn't consider it robbery to be equal with God, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men.

Col. 2:6-7 Peggy is firmly rooted in Christ and she is being built up and established in Him.
As Peggy received Christ Jesus, her Lord, she must walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him, and established in the faith, even as Peggy was taught, abounding in it in thanksgiving

Col. 2:10 Peggy has been made complete in Christ.
And in Him, Peggy is made complete, who is the head of all principality and power.

Peggy Is Chosen.(8)
John 15:16 Peggy has been chosen and appointed by Christ to bear His fruit.
Peggy didn't choose Me, but I chose Peggy, and appointed her, that she should go and bear fruit, and that her fruit should remain; that whatever Peggy will ask of the Father in My name,
He may give it to her.

II Cor. 1:21-22 Peggy has been established, anointed, and sealed in Christ.
Now He who establishes Peggy in Christ, and anointed Peggy, is God; who also sealed Peggy,
and gave her the down payment of the Spirit in her heart.

II Cor. 5:18-19 Peggy has been reconciled to God and she is a minister of reconciliation. But all things are of God, who reconciled Peggy to Himself through Jesus Christ,
and gave to Peggy the ministry of reconciliation; namely,
that God was in Christ reconciling Peggy to Himself, not reckoning to Peggy her trespasses, and having committed to Peggy the word of reconciliation.

Eph. 1:4 Peggy has been chosen by God to be holy.
Even as He chose Peggy in Him before the foundation of the world,
that Peggy would be holy and without blemish before Him in love.

II Tim. 1:9 Peggy has been given a holy calling.
God saved Peggy, and called her with a holy calling, not according to Peggy's works,
but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given to Peggy in Christ Jesus before times eternal.

Titus 3:5 Peggy is washed and renewed by the Holy Spirit.
Not by works of righteousness, which Peggy did herself, but according to His mercy, He saved Peggy, through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit.

I Peter 2:9 Peggy is a member of a royal priesthood, a holy nation,
a people for God's own possession.
Peggy is a member of a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that Peggy may show forth the excellencies of Him who called her out of darkness into His marvelous light.

I John 2:28 Peggy has boldness and is not ashamed.
Now, Peggy should remain in Him, that when He appears,
Peggy may have boldness,
and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

Peggy Is Forgiven. (7)

John 5:24 Peggy has passed from death to life in Christ.
Most assuredly I tell you, if Peggy hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, Peggy has eternal life, and doesn't come into judgment, but she has passed out of death into life.

Rom. 3:24 Peggy has been justified through grace.
Peggy is justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

Rom. 5:1 Peggy has been justified, completely forgiven, made righteous, and has peace.
Being therefore justified by faith, Peggy has peace with God through her Lord, Jesus Christ.

Rom. 8:1-2 Peggy is forever free from condemnation.
There is therefore now no condemnation for Peggy because she is in Christ Jesus,
because Peggy doesn't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made Peggy free from the law of sin and death.

Rom. 8:31-34 Peggy is free from any condemning charges against her. What then shall we say about these things?
If God is for Peggy, who can be against her?
He who didn't spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for Peggy, how would He not also with Him freely give Peggy all things? Who could bring a charge against Peggy, because she is one of God's elect? It is God who justifies Peggy. Who is He who condemns? It is Christ who died, and more than that was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God and makes intercession for Peggy.

Eph. 1:7-8 Peggy has been redeemed and forgiven and Peggy is a recipient of His rich grace. In Him Peggy has her redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of Peggy's trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, which He made to abound toward Peggy in all wisdom and prudence.

Eph. 4:32 Peggy has been forgiven in Christ.
And Peggy is to be kind to others, tenderhearted, forgiving others, just as God also in Christ forgave Peggy.

  1. Peggy,
You really are a testimony og God's power to redeem and save. Thank you for sharing. When I started my blog, it was God bringng me out of Lie#1-believing and living what others deemed for me, until God said, "Are you ready to listen to just ME now?" Uhhuh..more than ready...

Anyway, I have a friend who was diagnosed with BP a while back. She is on meds and seems always in a 'drugged' state...she has 'lost ' her vibrant personality and It hurts to see her like this...I miss our 'friendship'...she came off meds at one time and it was great seeing her 'herself' again..but she's back on...what can I do for her?...any advice you can give?

  2. WOW! Hi Peggy! Isn't it incredible when we see who we are in Christ? Reading all those truths sure puts things in perspective doesn't it?!!
PTL!!! There is a song by a group called HWY 7 called The Mind of Christ I wish you could hear; you wouuld LOVE it! Their old name was SOV (sounds of Victory) and I know they have a website that I think you can actually hear that song. If you ever get a chance... check it out!
It's nice meeting you, and I will never forget this post. I am going to start "praying" scripture more often. God's Promises and TRUTHS.
You are definitely a daughter of the king of the Universe. ;)
    Have a great weekend,

  3. PS. I forgot to tell you... I used to live in Minneapolis... at Medicine Lake when I was a little girl!

  4. I love you precious one. This was such a wonderful post, it touched my heart. May you be forever blessed.

  5. Woah - what a post!! I need to bookmark it to come back to those verses - I love the way that you've applied those verses to yourself, I tend to read the verses as verses without really thinking about how they could be applied to me and my faith journey.

  6. I love how you applied 2 Timothy 1:7 to your life. That is exactly what God wants us to do. Use the full Power of His Word in our lives. Great testimony!

  7. Wow!!! I miss writing you, but I see what you have been up to. Your writing is beautiful and I can see how wonderful this is that you are able to share and to receive from this blog site. Keep up the writing!!! Love your cousin

  8. That is just awesome, Peggy. You and I are truly blessed. Thank God for His Word.

Bless you for your visit and encouraging words! I thank you and I am humbly blessed by YOU and the time you spend with me... Peace, "Mazmagi" Peggy
