First of all, Peggy - I don't think you complain too much. Not at all. I just think that we sensitive souls have to "talk out" our feelings - it's the way we grapple with them and work our way to where God wants us to be. (My opinion, anyway!)
ReplyDeleteSo, to the questions:
How do you find joy in contentment?
It would be a great thing if I could find contentment and STAY there! Our pastor says that contentment can be defined like this:
Wanting what you have, and not wanting what you don't have.
True. But my contentment issues don't have that much to do with material things. They have to do with a quiet spirit. I do not feel content when I am struggling.
So, I suppose really getting a *handle* on JOY would certainly lead to contentment. And JOY must be based on an eternal perspective, on the promises of God.
How do you find joy in obedience?
All I know is that when I am reading the Word, being in Bible Study, going to church, exercising my spiritual gifts - there is great JOY in those pursuits. God brings a special peace when we are walking in HIS way. That peace gives me deep joy.
Is it difficult or easy for you? Which is easier? Why?
Obedience might be easier. At least when I feel like it's clear what God wants me to do. Contentment - as I talked about above - much, much harder for me. I usually want things changed or fixed. Accepting them as they are - especially when they stir up fear or anxiety - oh, so very hard.
GOD BLESS!
