ISAIAH 61 says:

"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair."

Welcome to ALL!
No, it's not Christmas in Mexico still
I'm just counting God's Blessings every day!
Y'all are one of the BEST for me!
I like watching snowflakes fall like the stars YOU are in my life
I have COMMENTS CLOSED now, except FRI. and my SECRET GARDEN maybe SOS, but REACTIONS are available instead, see explanation here kinda. I still miss knowing who was here, so I added this linky, on my BLOGGER PAGE also. Just put your name instead of any "Title" to let me know who has passed by and can say:
I WAS HERE!
Here's why: On 1/24 my COMPUTER CRASHED, so I'm unable to SIGN IN to it, it's frozen. I don't know what's wrong or for how long. I try to check what I can from a public cyber but can't do that daily or for hours like I'm use to doing, so I'm very limited in what I can get done. Think God's trying to tell me some thing? Less time online? I'm sure I'll need a new computer rather than repair this here but don't see that happening here in these next 2 yrs. before I'm back home in USA. I'll be thinking and praying for you! Love y'all, pray and please don't forget me. God bless!

BEGINNING ... 2012 ... with SOS

*if you missed my last post in 2011, please take the time to read it and be blessed

Welcome back to SOAKING ON SONday! Where we soak in any of these:

SCENE:

The Beginning of a Perfect Day
"Beginning a Perfect Day" by Thomas Kinkade (known as Painter of Light)
SCRIPTURE:
When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said,
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

JESUS
is
LIGHT of THE WORLD
and
HIS
LOVE
is
the
only
answer
SONG:
Dan Seals

Sheila Walsh sings this song also but I chose this one
for the SCENES but I heard Cindy Morgan also did a remake
Sheila has another one actually called "Light of the World"

SERMON?:
The reason I'm pointing this out, besides liking her voice singing these songs, is for two reasons:

First, because this was a secular song and both Sheila and I must have seen "JESUS as the LIGHT of the World" in these lyrics and that His "LOVE is the Answer"!

Second,
this is my WORD for 2012...
LIGHT!

The first song that came into my mind was this one... well, not the whole song, only that phrase, "Light of the world shine on me, Love is the answer..." and I could not think or find any Christian song with that line so when I 'googled' that line... here was this song from the 70's that I'm sure I heard often on the radio. You might be thinking that this is not a very good choice to start 2012... but listen to the words and how Jesus being the LIGHT makes the difference. Even the opening of Paradise which we know is with Him. He spoke Light into the world and created Paradise!
Much more
LIGHT
to come!

The Message writes John 8:12 this way:

"I am the world's Light.
No one who follows me
stumbles around in the darkness.
I provide plenty of light to live in."

As the title of the painting "Beginning a Perfect Day" by Thomas Kinkade, was the beginning of my inspiration for my WORD for 2012 I add, let this first day be "the beginning of a perfect year" in the Light of Jesus Christ, as the Light reflects through us in the darkness of this world with LOVE (His Love) as the answer...

So in 2012
Let's LET HIS LIGHT shine
on us, in us and through us!

  1. I wish I would have thought about and written a prayer for the beginning of 2012 so I'm sharing this one and also hope you click over to read the prayer from Wendy Blight above:

Almighty Creator and God of all of the universe,

I praise You for Your incomparable power and Your incomprehensible glory. As I begin this new year, I know that my future rests in Your will, Your grace, and Your salvation. Please go with me as I journey toward this future. Please be glorified in the way I live my life today, this year, and for as long as You give me earthly life. In Jesus' name I pray.

  2. Hi Peggy:

Love the photo (I really like Thomas Kinkaid paintings) and the song (it brings back memories). And of course, I love The Light! Praying that it shines on me in the coming year.

On a side note, our worship pastor has taken several secular songs and made Christian lyrics to them. On occasion, He will sing one in church.

Blessings and Happy New year in your year of Light. Mine is a year of Trust.

    Blessings,
    Joan

  8. I had to add this when I found it(from Phil Ware) Heartlight:

    Father,
Give us a new year. Not just a new number, but a truly new year. Give us a year full of new things, new adventures, new attitudes, and visions. Lord, give us a new year full of new ideas and refresh some of our old ideas. Give us new relationships and renew old relationships, and restore relationships that have been broken.

Father, give us a new year. Give us a new song. Give us a new memory. Give us a new image of Your Son, and help us to show His image of those who are new to You. Give us new thoughts, new friends, and new things that replace the old worn-out things.

Father, give us a new year. The year that has just ended was difficult for some of us. There were struggles and frustrations and disappointments that we did not handle so well. Give us a better mentality and better spiritual insight that will help us deal with the struggles, frustrations and disappointments that will come in this New Year.

Help us look beyond what we can see! Father, give us a new year.

Give us a year filled with new ministries, new opportunities, new voices, and new messages. Help us hold on to the old things that are worth holding, and help us let go of the old things that have served their purpose.

Father, give us a new year. Give us a year that is not controlled by fear. A year in which we are not afraid of people who are different. A year when we are not afraid of ideas that are new, of plans that are new, and places that are new.

Father, give us a new year. Give us a year filled with new love. A new love for You. A new love for each other. A new love for Your Kingdom. A new love for strangers. A new love for the helpless. A new love for the needy. A new love for poor. A new love for rich. A new love for all people.

Father, give us a new year. Help us put the old one to bed. Help us to leave the things of the past in the past. Help us look forward. Help us look beyond what we can see to what You have planned for us that we cannot see. Help us move forward with confidence and courage and humility and gentleness.

Father, give us a new year. Help us, in this New Year to completely surrender to You and what You have planned for us in this year filled with new things.
