Today I FOCUS my FAITH with claiming a Promise from God of 365 promises and FEARLESSLY PRAY with others who set aside Fridays to lift others up to the very Throne of God. There is nothing better than a day filled by His Holy Spirit, praying, interceding and building our faith through God's Word as we claim His Promises to us. Turning His Word into a prayer is the best way to do this. May I encourage you to "Breakthrough to the New" along with others. (see Vimeo in right sidebar).
I have another added FEATURE for FRIDAY FAITH FOCUS and that is a memorization of verses... I've used them here before they are called FIGHTER VERSES... so whether you'd like to memorize the weekly verse or just FOCUS on it as a FIGHTER VERSE, it's up to you... But each Friday, I will give the current FIGHTER VERSE and the upcoming one. However, if you go to their site, they have much more resources to offer you, such as this devotion on this week's Fighter Verse; a chart for you to keep track of your verses; a bookmark for the entire year, which also gives you some great tips on how to memorize; Verse card maker; and my favorite part... Legacy Songs (the Fighter Verses put to music...the only problem is that it is for a different set, 2012 they are doing Set 2) plus they have iPhone apps, etc. that I have no idea what or how to use ... nor can I, but you all can.
On next week's Monday Manna, I share another great place for memorization that started this past week.
The Fighter verse for Jan. 1 (this past week) was:
Isaiah 40:8 "The grass withers, the flowers fade, but the word of God will stand forever."
The questions to reflect on were:
Romans 10:13, 14 [15]
"...giving thanks to the Father who has qualified you to share in the saints’ inheritance in the light. He delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of the Son He loves." Colossians 1:12-13
Paraphrased Bible Promises

BE SURE TO READ MY NOTE AT THE END OF MONDAY'S POST if you missed it! For this reason, I'm not being a very good host this month for either "Faith Focus" or "SOS" so I almost did not post them but that's what happens when you try to do "blogging" along with "REAL life" and for me that's being in a foreign field with mission work as well. Usually, I schedule my blog posts long in advance... for when I have much ado... I do not want to let either Faith Focus or SOS go, so I hope you keep focusing your faith on God's Promises and Soaking on SONday in God's love and light through scenes, scriptures, or songs... and continue along with me building and encouraging one another in FAITH!

I love the way you love the Lord.
ReplyDeleteI claim #5 and love The Message version...
ReplyDelete"Long before he laid down earth's foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son."
I love the promise #6 that you chose too, Peggy. Beautiful ~ Thank God for the marvelous light of His beloved son, Jesus.
ReplyDeleteWhat is our confidence in this text?
ReplyDeleteOur confidence is based on GOD. Not in the temporal things of this life. Not even on the temporary status of our own lives. God's Word stands forever. And that means that His promises also last forever. So, even though the earth and the heavens will one day pass away, we will not - for God has promised that we will spend eternity in His presence.
What is the “word of our God?”
To me, I think of two things. Obviously, the Bible is God's holy Word. The written words are His - spoken thousands of years ago - and yet, spoken to me this very day. And then, Jesus is THE Word - the Logos - of God. He is the One who made God's words come alive - literally.
How might Isaiah 40:8 help us when we feel the reality of our grass likeness?
Because God has promised that we will live forever with Him, we can depend on that promise. We may be "like" grass - but we will not wither or fade or die. We will only "pass" into life from death. THAT is the confident hope that dispels our grass likeness!
My Promise? The verse that tells the entire story of the Bible in one sentence: John 3:16.
For God so loved ME...
Glory.
GOD BLESS!
The Fighter Verses iPhone app is available in the App Store. I highly recommend it. There is also an Android version in the Android Market.
ReplyDeleteThanks John for sharing this however I live right now in a poor country and do not own an
ReplyDeleteiPhone or Android, but perhaps others will be interested.
