"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

LIFE RECOVERY CHALLENGE INTRO

*At the end of September, the 30 Day Challenge posts will go into draft, but I have chosen to leave this and may select a few others along the way or may redo a bit to be able to leave them here ...

All of my posts (except for 3 SONdays of the LIGHT series) will be "on hold" for the month of September as I work through sharing what I am able to from "Life Recovery" ... so this is a loaded post (by way of explanation)...   for a Challenge this month of 30 days of Recovery.

I see these as steps to rebuilding and restoring our lives. So this is your fair WARNING that these 30 Days will be long and full posts, but you should take them one step at a time or one day at a time, select one part and focus, if not for yourself, for some ONE that needs to be reached, recover and be WON by Jesus for His Kingdom now and forever...  may your heart and life be changed for the better and your outreach be extended to others in need with the heart of Jesus.

*******
Many of us associate the RECOVERY process only with people that need rehabilitation after an addiction problem, or commonly after an illness or surgery. It takes time to heal. There are many areas in our life that need God's healing touch. Check out how RECOVERY is defined here

It is my opinion that each one of us, in our life, need to "recover" especially spiritually daily (if not in other areas) so we are continuously passing through the "twelve steps" (or should) as true Christians making our lives sanctified, purified and holy, better reflections of the image of Christ. We constantly should be readjusting and making better or healthier (?) choices and decisions by re-evaluating ourselves; the storms that we have walked through, those deep valleys, those difficult times, that God has used to chip away some of our old ways conforming them to His way, His truth and His life as our Light.

Hopefully, we each are being refined by the Master (even those of us that don't easily submit) and stepping forward in His Amazing Grace each day, holding on to His guiding hand, as He leads us to Higher Places (better places, better ways and hopefully more Christ-like thoughts and behaviors as a result) ... my LIFE is constantly and consistently being recovered ... restored... renewed and remade new in Christ as I become more obedient and walk more closely with Him, with my new identity, shining His Light for others.

This all came about for me because I started reading a copy of a Life Recovery Bible (then some of their devotionals of the 12 steps), plus my re-reading of "Hind's Feet in High Places" with an intensive study followed by one on demolishing strongholds. This is the result and further study of my individual recovery to be whole.

I do not, nor have I struggled with any substance addictions (alcohol, drugs, etc.), but I realize that by the grace of God I could have, but did not, yet I do know that this also applies to all SIN in my life, that I have allowed strongholds access in my life and anything that is an obstacle to me walking in the abundant life that Jesus died to give me, needs to be GONE. He did not go to the Cross just to give me an eternal life but He wants me to live a FULL, abundant life and fill myself with more of Him and less of me, making wiser and healthier choices every day. Cleansing my life, being refined and being healed, which for me is being made more complete and whole by the power of Jesus Christ and a life changed by Him. Restore. Renew. Recover. Reclaim. Repossess. Recapture. Retrieve.

Living for Him and more like Him. This is a continuation from when I was home the last time in the summer with my home church, and I was blessed to be part of a wonderful home study group that was working on "Life's Healing Choices - Freedom from Your Hurts, Hang-ups and Habits" (by Jon Baker & Pastor Rick Warren, Saddleback Church).

Please read these over and keep an open mind. Perhaps you will see how these can apply to any weakness or struggle we have with "sin"(wrong/poor choices/problems) in our own lives.

The Twelve Steps
 1. We admitted that we were powerless over our problems and that our lives had become unmanageable.(Romans 7:18 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.)
 2. We came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. (Philippians 2:13 For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.)
 3. We made a decision to turn our wills and our lives over to the care of God. (Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship.)
 4. We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.(Lamentations 3:40 Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the LORD.)
 5. We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.(James 5:16a Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.)
 6. We were entirely ready to have God remove these defects of character.(James 4:10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.)
 7. We humbly asked God to remove our shortcomings.(1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.)
 8. We made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all.(Luke 6:31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.)
 9. We made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.(Matthew 5:23-24 Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.)
10. We continued to take personal inventory, and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.   (1 Corinthians 10:12 So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!)
11. We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry it out.(Colossians 3:16a Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly.)
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.(Galatians 6:1 Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.)

The Twelve Steps used in The Life Recovery Workbook have been adapted with permission from the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous

Isn't Step 3
what salvation is all about?
and
Isn't Step 1
admitting that we are wrong
or
have fallen
confessing our sins and failures
admitting we need help
the 1st step in our
Christian life?
for
"We are ALL sinners..."
that fall so short
(and we're not measuring our height here)
and
no one's sin is better or worse
it's all
SIN
(YUCK)
our flesh, our nature

Isn't Step 12
Evangelism?

Let's
Celebrate Recovery
OURS

Saddleback Senior, Pastor Rick Warren devised a set of Principles based on the Beatitudes for the word R.E.C.O.V.E.R.Y. (if we add LIFE before it, we'd have 12 letters for each of the 12 steps but Pastor Warren has summed these up well in 8). It is these 8 STEPS that come from "Life's Healing Choices..." book and what I need to focus on and finish, from when I was last home with my MN church. I started but never completed... so where do I need to continue? in my TRANSFORMATION and RESTORATION of RELATIONSHIPS?  Hmmmmmm...

Step by step to:
  • Realize I'm not God; I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and my life is unmanageable. "Happy are those who know they are spiritually poor" (1)

  • Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to him, and that he has the power to help me recover. "Happy are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted" (2)

  • Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ's care and control. "Happy are the meek" (3)

  • Openly examine and confess my faults to God, to myself, and to someone I trust. "Happy are the pure in heart"(4&5)

  • Voluntarily submit to every change God wants to make in my life and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects. "Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires" (6&7)

  • Evaluate all my relationships; Offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me and make amends for harm I've done to others except when to do so would harm them or others. "Happy are the merciful" "Happy are the peacemakers" (8&9)

  • Reserve a daily time with God for self examination, Bible readings and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will.(10&11)

  • Yield myself to God to be used to bring this Good News to others, both by my example and by my words. "Happy are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires"(12)

  • *******
As far as I am concerned, these various steps can be
summed up biblically in only 2 Steps:
    SALVATION
    SANCTIFICATION

but these definitely are broken down and made much more clear biblically through Celebrate Recovery. Some times those 2 "S" words are too complicated for us and need to be simplified step by step to really understand the immensity and importance of them.

Since school starts each September (earlier now), I thought this was a good month to set this all out for each day. At least, I'll try to give the 12 Steps and a Scripture reading for each day ... hopefully, I'll get a chance to share some of my personal reflections from my journey or progress along the way.

It's really difficult doing a 30 Day Challenge when I do not have daily access to computer use. So this was not the greatest decision and choice for me to do on my blog online yet my intent and purpose are. I know it will be tedious to see blog posts from me everyday for a full month and not possible to interact with me, but these are meant to help us for more than these 30 days... I guess I'd say for a LIFETIME! 360 days worth condensed here into 30 days...

*(update on 8/23... I have now finished all of the 30 days first drafts without my personal input yet on most, but I'd like to let you know that I do a restart midway through and for the last half, I do STEP by STEP rather than Day by Day, with hopes of adding the 1st 15 days there as I'm able - now to read along with you and decide which ones to publicly write and share about...) I have drafted some of this series.

The reason that I'm doing this is because I need this: "Each step prepares us for the next one as we develop greater humility and openness to God" - (this is what I'm working on, along with healing from my past poor choices) but most importantly I submit my will and life to Jesus more fully, making a new commitment to allow the Holy Spirit to complete His work in me... being refined and re-tuned...

"Remember the steps are not only about victory over addictive behaviors.
They are also about ridding ourselves of the blocks
that keep us from being of service to God and others."

I recently was made aware that even though I have known Jesus all of my life and have been a born again Christian for a major part of my life, a spirit filled Christian for nearly 20... that to new believers or strangers or non-believers (maybe even you), I don't seem to be living that full, abundant life or shining the LIGHT of Jesus, that I speak about so highly and believe in so strongly; I have not applied God's principles and promises in a way that others can clearly see and want - this is my public confession of my lack of shining for Jesus as I should ...(ouch, that one stings, hits home and then some)

So I definitely need to get with the program, be the LIGHT and "live my BEST LIFE now" before others and you. After all, I want to be an open vessel for the Lord to flow through with HIS LIGHT!

The point of my WORD for 2012 being: LIGHT!

*NOTE: DisclaimerI am in no way a qualified professional or author of these "12 Steps" or anything dealing with RECOVERY This is only for my own personal use, thoughts, opinions, experiences, reflections, journey to recovery and being made whole in Christ and to minister to others. SOMOS LA LUZ ~ WE ARE THE LIGHT of the WORLD

I wonder how Kari Jobe and I connected with this WORD for 2012 of LIGHT (and Matthew West has a Sept. CD release "Into the Light")(I'm sure she/he doesn't read my blog or follow me like I do them and their music) ... I'm so thankful that Kari wrote this song and sings it in both English and Spanish! Looking forward to hearing "Into the Light" too!

    Spanish video
    "SOMOS LA LUZ"
    means

    "WE ARE THE LIGHT"
    of the World
    English version

    and oh yes, Kari

    WE GOTTA
    let
    HIS
    LIGHT
    SHINE

    Hay... (there are)
Secretos que guardar  Every secret, every shame
Y temores que enfrentar  Every fear, every pain
Nuestra identidad   But that's not who we are
No es la oscuridad   Live inside the dark
Somos hijos de la luz  We are children of the day

    Vamos ya levantate
    Tu misión suprema es
    Toda sombra deja atrás
Usa bien el tiempo que hay

So wake up sleeper, lift your head
We were meant for more than this
    Fight the shadows conquer death
Make the most of the time we have left

Tu y yo somos la luz
La luz que al mundo hace brillar
Tu y yo somos la luz
Mas alto, mas alto, mas alto,

    Brillaremos (repeat)

    Brillaremos, brillaremos

We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
We gotta, we gotta, we gotta let the light shine (repeat)

    Es el tiempo de anunciar
    El evangelio de la paz
    Que hay vida, libertad
    Y amor sin igual
    En el nombre de Jesus

We are called to the spread the news
Tell the world the simple truth
Jesus came to save, there's freedom in His Name
So let His love break through

:Tu y yo somos la luz
La luz que al mundo hace brillar
Tu y yo somos la luz
Mas alto, mas alto, mas alto

    Brillaremos: (repeat)

Somos la luz, somos la luz
     We are the light
Somos la luz al mundo brillaremos
Somos la luz, somos la luz  We are the light
    Somos la luz

    Cristo Christ
Tu eres la luz, Tu eres la luz You are the Light
Tu eres la luz Te exaltaremos You are the Light, We will exalt You
Mas, mas, mas more, more, more

Tu y yo somos la luz
La luz que al mundo hace brillar
Tu y yo somos la luz
Mas alto, mas alto, mas alto

    Brillaremos(repeat)

Somos la luz, somos la luzSomos la luz

We are the light, We are the light, We are the light So let your light shine brighter
We are the light, We are the light, We are the light  Jesus

You are the light, You are the light, You are the light (JESUS) We will lift You higher
    Shine, Shine, Shine

Maybe I should have waited to share this song as my concluding post on my WORD for this year "LIGHT" with all the inspiration I've received as His LIGHT led me through this year! However, my ONE WORD of LIGHT was just for me to illuminate HIS LIGHT, as my light; and the lack of His Light that I have been shining or failing to shine, because of the "walls" that I have allowed to be built and go up around me, that Jesus' LIGHT really needed to pierce through and reveal to me so much of my own life that needed, needs and perhaps will continue to need to be refined and changed as I work through my plan for September which is just the beginning, just a glimmer of what I need to do packed solid in one month, but what I really need to do is follow this throughout an entire year ... step by step as I reflect(which I may just do for 2013) more of His Light and allow His Light to break forth and change me from the dark crevices hidden even from myself.

Yes, I am the one who needed His LIGHT this year and that Jesus would be revealed and reveal to me "Every secret, every shame ...  Every fear, every pain"... so that my identity would be exchanged for my identity that I have in Christ and lived before others, shining His Light so that the LIGHT would reflect more of the victory He won and I should be living.

He arranged every part of this year from my SONday "Passages of Light" to my "Manna Memory" of my identity in Christ... to each post that I was led to share and even the fact that my light was weakened by not having computer access (a different kind of "light"), to show He is with me, changing me, making me see the LIGHT at the end of my tunnel, or in the midst of my storms, or buried in my past, or walled inside... but I'm no longer surprised by the lengths that God goes to, just to get my attention and finally make me aware of His aMazing Grace, Love and Presence as He refines me, changes my unhealthy choices of my past with the HOPE of a new glow immersing with the capacity to shine more brightly a true LIGHT (not a tinted one or just a glimmer or flicker) the FULL POWER and FILLED LIGHT of Jesus Christ!

This song of Kari's just seemed to bring this to light and tie all this together... better than my inept attempt to put this year into WORDs that fail me, but HIS WORD never fails me, nor does HIS LIGHT! HE most definitely is the LIGHT I need (and so do you)!

As you can tell, I couldn't wait until the end of the year to shed some LIGHT about my ONE WORD for 2012! But I sense a breakthrough coming, a NEW LIGHT, a new power, a new freedom, a new "me" ... shining as the LIGHT that He created me to be, not hidden under a bushel, or covered with multiple refraction blocking the full power of His glory, with sins, or lies, or "dirt" from a life not lived entirely for Him. As you can see, I've been doing much soul searching in my time off line.

He gave me this ONE WORD - LIGHT - to see how bright I might become or shine and realize my need of Jesus' Light
    in
    2012!

(maybe this will help shed some LIGHT on my rationale for this September 30 Day Challenge that I'm starting tomorrow with an intro post preceding Day 1 - Sept. 1 and a prelude to my next
and last "Passage of Light" after LIGHT of GRACE)

Can you believe it's already the start of
    September?
Where has this year gone so quickly?
    Whoa

WOW ~ Then Sings My Soul ~ D

*If you caught my post on August 1st then you know that my WOW's will be WORSHIP OWEDS. to focus on hymns from "Then Sings My Soul..." Book 3 by Robert J. Morgan
    "The Story of Our Songs:
    Drawing Strength
    from the
    Great Hymns of Our Faith"
(this is the rest of the title from Book 3)

This is what I intend to do: "draw strength" and like my Fridays use to be for "Focusing my Faith" with God's wonderful Promises, my Weds. will now be another way to
FOCUS my FAITH through the words, music and stories behind our great hymns and church music as we listen and learn, we will Worship On Weds. by reading the rich words written in our HYMNS and DRAW STRENGTH.

If you've been reading the last few Weds. posts, you now know that I have turned this too into an A-Z Challenge of Hymns 2 HIM! Here is my button identifying this.

    This week, we are doing
    "D"
    Hymns that start with "D"

And I already told you last week
    that my only choice from
     BOOK 3
    was

"DAY by DAY the Manna Fell"

Now, I know a song "Day by Day" but it was not this hymn. And as I've admitted to you, I was not that much of a "hymn lover" except for a chosen few, but I most definitely love HIM. So, once again, I did not really know this hymn... but I am learning so much from them:
    Day by day the manna fell;
O to learn this lesson well!
    Still by constant mercy fed,
Give me Lord, my daily bread.

“Day by day,” the promise reads,
    Daily strength for daily needs;
    Cast foreboding fears away;
    Take the manna of today.

    Lord! my times are in Thy hand;
All my sanguine hopes have planned,
    To Thy wisdom I resign,
And would make Thy purpose mine.

    Thou my daily task shalt give;
    Day by day to Thee I live;
    So shall added years fulfill,
Not my own, my Father’s will.

    Fond ambition, whisper not;
    Happy is my humble lot.
    Anxious, busy cares away;
    I’m provided for today.

Oh, to live exempt from care
    By the energy of prayer:
Strong in faith, with mind subdued,
    Yet elate with gratitude!

    Words: Josiah Conder, 1836
    Music: MunusJohn B. Calkin, 1872
    Josiah Conder (1789-1855)
    included in
The Sacred Poets of the Nineteenth Century
    by Alfred H. Miles

Day by day the manna fell. J. Conder. [The Lord's Prayer.] Appeared in his Congregational Hymn Book, 1836, No. 516, in 6 stanzas of 4 lines, and based upon the text, "Give us day by day our daily bread." In the following year it was given as the fourth of six hymns on "The Lord's Prayer" in Conder's work The Choir and the Oratory, 1837, p. 33, and repeated in his Hymns of Praise, Prayer, &c, 1856, p. 137. It is given in a great many hymnals in Great Britain and America. In some American collections it begins with stanza iii., "Lord, my [our] times are in Thy hand." --John Julian, Dictionary of Hymnology (1907)

So Josiah Conder writes this based on one line from the "Lord's Prayer" Luke 11:3 I might have thought by the title that it had to do with the 'manna' that the Israelites received.

BLUE LETTER BIBLE shares MORE here on their site.

Clearly you can PRAY the words of this song as we also pray the Lord's Prayer asking for His daily provision and giving Him thanks for all we are given.

    What was manna?

Why did God supply the Israelites with manna
as they wandered through the wilderness?
    [source]
    Exodus 16:10-15
    Exodus 16:19-20
    Exodus 16:23-26
    Exodus 16:35
    Numbers 11:7-8
    Numbers 11:9

Jesus Christ spoke of the true significance of manna
    John 6:31-33
    John 6:48-51

Many of you may not understand that I write this from my own "wilderness" experience and knowing My Provider. I only pray that it does not last 40 years. But I am more than grateful for the many experiences and lessons during
    my wilderness.
When I teach English(or Spanish), one of the first lessons is usually on "I am..." and since I love to use the Bible, I teach the verses of I AM. Without a doubt, "I am the bread of life..." is one of the basic phrases. Yet more important to being able to say that Jesus said this... is to say how HE is the BREAD of LIFE. Then, see HIM provide.

Yes, the wilderness is full of many surprises; both blessings and curses/problems (storms, valleys) all part of the journey to teach us how to live more for HIM and like Him, no matter what we face. "To live exempt from care, by the energy of prayer; Strong in faith, with mind subdued,Yet elate with gratitude!" Thank you Josiah Conder for these words teaching us to give thanks for our daily Bread! (Of course, here the daily bread is tortillas but truthfully I get much more from the Daily Manna of His Word and could do without the extra 'bread basket', especially at my age and in this summer heat. (lol) :0)

    Bread of Heaven
(no, this is not a hymn nor this hymn)
    but chosen as
    a beautiful song of prayer

Just as our physical bodies need food and water to survive and sustain its strength we need to feed our spirits with Jesus, the Word of God, to produce spiritual growth and strength. This is what Manna: Bread of Life brings to every believer in Christ.

Next week will be the letter "E" so many letters yet to go so why not join us in this Challenge on your blog and hum along with our

    BEYOND CANCER'S SCARS

I was not asked to write this by Elaine, but when I saw the following trailer and read parts of her book, in addition to what Elaine herself shares on her own blog... I am honored to do this and consider it a privilege to rejoice with Elaine on the release of "Beyond Cancer's Scars: Laying Claim to a Stronger Spirit"

I usually read a book before I review or promote it but I did not hesitate to write this one, sight unseen, or book not yet received in my hands (looking forward to being able to read it) because I've read Elaine's heart on her blog, in her other book and in her videos.

I just had to write this and share it today, on my youngest brother's birthday. Even though he's no longer on this side of heaven, but did not die from cancer, he could have. Both he and my oldest sister and many other family members have battled with cancer. My brother conquered the cancer in his liver because they caught it early (and I believe God's healing had a major part). My sister also is a cancer survivor and it has been in remission for many years! Or once again, by the grace of God, completely healed. I've always admired how my sister dealt with this and other aspects of her caring for others in her life. I'd love to 'gift' this book to her and I wrote her right away to let her know about it. Yet I see the truths that Elaine shares and the words that she has penned along her journey to be meant for me also, so that my spirit can be strengthened and lifted up when I struggle. Most have scars that we need to get beyond.

    Beyond Cancer's Scars

Elaine's first book, "Peace for the Journey" was/is such an inspiration and blessing for me, I still go back and reread sections over... so I'm sure these 40 devotions will build me up with strength for my own life situations as well as help me encourage others with theirs. Elaine's video of this 2nd book's arrival also was very touching, *A New Season Arrives* ... Praise God, Elaine! Walking into a new season with you and continuing to love you, your blog and writing

Elaine's Prayer*upon the arrival of her book moved me so, I had to share it here and stand in agreement with her

"God, I just pray that You take this and You use these words and You use the suffering season that preceded these words... and You take it and You allow it to be an encouragement to someone else who is going through a similar struggle in Your name, I pray..."
    AMEN!

Multiply these blessings and heart filled words
penned by Elaine and the fruit that follows.
    Thank You Lord
    for Elaine
    and that
    she writes
    from her heart
    her experiences
    and
    Your Words to her
    to share her journey,
    her suffering,
    her pain,
    her growth,
    God's gain
    our HOPE in
    Him
    all for
    HIS
    GLORY
    by
    HIS
    aMazing
    GRACE
    I pray that You
    continue to carry
    Elaine
    forward with
    long and prosperous life
    and
    I thank You
    for using this difficult season
    for Your Kingdom!
    Breathe a fresh
    anointing
    on
    Elaine and Billy
    their family!
    Pour forth
    more of
    You
    over
    her
    More
    love
    grace
    and
    peace!

“Beyond Cancer’s Scars” Part One (why I wrote this book)
“Beyond Cancer’s Scars” Part Three (disappointments along the way)

Of course, just read her blog (subscribe) and you'll get a wonderful taste of her writing style and God's. She finds a way to draw us in and add practical stories to what we read in the Bible, using God's Word along and throughout her life to give testimony as she writes in this book "Everyone has a Story" and "Everybody has something."

I believe that we each have scars that can be used to help someone else, but our scars pale in comparison to Jesus'. Yet by sharing our stories, we continue to weave the glory of His story in ours and our triumphs from our defeats or sufferings build us up and others when we are willing to open up and share, and walk along side a sister or brother, who needs encouragement and hope as Elaine offers us.

Speaking of encouragement, why not stop over right now and give Elaine some good words and blessings at her blog! Congratulate her and introduce yourself, if you do not yet know each other. Let her know I sent you and give her a BIG hug from me (because I'm short on computer time, I've failed to do so and wrote this instead)

Can you imagine a study/ support group using this book to help others with whatever their struggle might be and their need to find God's strength? Elaine shares an added bonus for this too on her blog. Pass on the Word and this book... share! The message and impact will be powerful. Oh, by the way, Elaine also is available for speaking.

Thanks Elaine! You have given more, much more than you think... more of yourself to this cause and our God planned destiny! Pain staking words through your suffering will bring encouragement and hope to other's to carry on and run a good race.

*my comments are closed (as noted below blog verse) but I know Elaine's are open so drop over there like I requested above. Be sure to check out her books and blog! Thanks for dropping by and checking a REACTION below :0)

LIGHT of GRACE ~ Brookside Hideaway

    "BROOKSIDE HIDEAWAY"

    by Thomas Kinkade

Brookside Hideaway is my Valentine's Day gift to lovers everywhere. It's the perfect romantic hideaway, lavish with flowers... and on close examination you'll also find a few hearts hidden away in the distance and among the foliage. Ah, sweet love! — Thomas Kinkade

    Matthew 10:27

    "Whispers of God"

"What I tell you now in the darkness, shout abroad when daybreak comes. What I whisper in your ear, shout from the housetops for all to hear!" (NLT)

    Shout it Out Loud

    Quite the contrast
    from
    a whisper to a shout

Are you hearing a whisper or a shout today from God?

What is He saying so loud and clear
    or
is it too difficult to hear because
it's being muffled by other sounds
    or
    voices?

    "A Voice of Heaven"
    by
    Sheri Rose
    is the perfect love letter
from God to accompany this post
(it arrived in my email Mon. so I added it when I went to catch up on emails and write a special post for Tues.)

Let's give a SHOUT to God and then spend time so quiet before Him that we can hear Him whisper His love and sing that ever so sweet song, that we would be still and know that He is God in whatever we face. He is with us, as we get still before Him and soak in His beautiful Presence. Let your faith rise up and be strengthened. Keep voices of doubt, confusion, unrest, weakness, fear, any negativity be muffled (but not stuffed) so we can be filled and restored as we whisper the name of Jesus over and over again. Let His Spirit rise up within you and know that our help comes from the Lord. He is everything! Let love be everywhere, not only in an exclusive "hideaway" place "brookside" but in the chaos and busy-ness of the world, let's shout Jesus and then shine the LIGHT of GRACE! Grace for you, grace for me, grace for those who need to know God's grace. God is Grace! Let's fully rely on God.

    VISION and VALUES

Not sure when "Vision and Values" starts, but I'm guessing in September. Our MISSION:to lead people to become fully devoted FOLLOWERS of Christ ... what are our values? I like most of these points in the video but this one stood out.
The local Church is the HOPE of the world!
    WE ARE THE CHURCH
    and
    WE EXIST FOR THE WORLD
I'll update or let you know if I find out or get an email about it... so I guess I should have titled this MARRIAGE: From This day Forward... the current series.

I'm not able to watch LifeChurch.tv online like I use to, but their current series is great on MARRIAGE:
    "From This Day Forward"
    From This Day Forward
5 week series on these 5 points

    1. SEEK GOD
    2. FIGHT FAIR
    3. HAVE FUN
    4. STAY PURE
    5. NEVER GIVE UP

Tired of watching marriages crumble? Fed up with couples giving up? Would you like to guarantee that your marriage will last? Join the fight against destruction and make five commitments to fail proof your marriage, From This Day Forward.

    Devotional download
From This Day Forward - Part 1: Seek GodFrom This Day Forward - Part 2: Fight FairFrom This Day Forward - Part 3: Have Fun

More Resources in PDF here for singles and couples
... and if the above video is for the upcoming series, I'd venture to say, "It'll be outstanding!"
    "Where there is no vision
    the people perish..."
    Proverbs 29:18

LifeChurch is available all week long (not just on Sun.) and repeats the message. It has great notes and even a live chat (most of the time) on the right side. Starts with some worship songs also followed by the message.
