"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

[side note: While reading "Peace for the Journey" this week on the "Ancients", I was going to move this one and replace it with the "Ancient One" but when I read all that I had already written here, it would not make sense to move it and change. I have added some reflections back on that post if you'd like to go back there.]

WOC 365 Days on Healing Devotional

Spanish version
I know you know this in English
with Kari Jobe also
A precious sister in the Lord gifted me the Kindle book I mentioned back here by Sheila Walsh, so I'm taking time away to really focus and read this as well as the upcoming month of devotions that I've set up and have been waiting to work my way through as a time of healing for the next 31 days. So I'm stepping even further away from being online (including emails only once a week*), while I do this during my 40 days of Lent ("Cuaresma", in Spanish) and take care of some other personal matters that need to get done. Thank you for your understanding yet please stop in and follow along with this 31 days, I know it will bless you also.

Let's keep others or better said, each other, in prayer for healing during these 40 days of Lent. So many in need of healing and so many kinds of healing are needed: physical, spiritual, emotional, marital, and on & on ... May the healing balm of Gilead flow through our prayers to touch one another with the precious stripes of our dear Lord Jesus, who bore all our needs for healing, especially our sins, as we reflect on Him and His great sacrifice for our benefit during this time set aside, by the power of His name and His blood, we are healed, saved, delivered,  redeemed, sanctified, restored, purged, refined, made whole and complete in Him ... Thank You Jesus! Thank You for Your healing love and grace! Thank You for loving us so much!
"Let Your healing love pour over this place
Heal the wounded soul
Let Your healing love pour over this place
Make Your people whole

Restore our hearts
Renew our minds
Set the captives free

Let Your healing love pour over this place
Make Your people whole"

How have you
experienced God this week?
(or would like to)

F: Focus on a Name of God or one of His attributes; Find a Verse
O: Open His Word~the Bible; allow God to reveal Himself
C: Center on HIM, Come into His Presence; let Him speak
U: Understand God and His Truth in His Word; Unmask your heart to God
S: Saturate and Soak as you Share your GRATITUDE for God to God
Just write on being grateful 2 God 4 who He is!
(in a prayer of gratitude)

Please tell us in the comments your response for the week to ...

"I'm grateful to God as my  ... because ...  or  "I'm grateful for God's  ... (quality) because ... (a Scripture would be nice if ya' got one in your head, or just come back, the blog's always here even when I'm not) or better yet you can write a prayer to Him right in my comments of how you experience God as that Name or quality of God

*if you email me, during this time offline, please write important or something in the subject line to call my attention to it, because so many pile up so quickly, in just 1 or 2 days, so a week's worth will tend to get  yours lost in the clutter of many and possibly unintentionally unread or worse deleted ... I know this from just my Fridays offline and then little availability on the weekend. I will be thinking of you often and PRAYING as I wrote here besides my reading and busy stuff

I've looked and looked because I was sure that I shared this series, but I can't find it in any of my M.O.M. (Moore On Monday) or even Weds. so I had to add it in here before I step aside for the rest of Cuaresma (Lent) because we all need these
lessons on "Affliction"! I know I do! Even though, it's not Mon., here's Beth Moore and her recent teachings at Life Today, where each week they share "Weds. with Beth" so today I am featuring:

"Weds. with Beth"

These are from Lightsource but you can also view this series directly at Life Today (Weds. with Beth) ... maybe I should have directed linked each one to Life Today but they are linked to Lightsource (if you have problems, click on the Life Today link)

... when I viewed the preview of this blog post, it was way out of whack ... I have no idea how it will post because I have now had to rearrange it with what I had at the end to the beginning and what I had at the beginning after that ... so we'll see or you'll see the MESS Blogger gave me that's what I get for copying and pasting ... no matter what I tried, it looks horrendous, which makes me even more determined to share it so ...

my apologies that this is not put together better, because I did it in such a hurry as I tried to listen and work ...

Experience The Bible Like Never Before

"The Bible" is an epic five-week, 10 hour television miniseries premiering March 3, 2013 on the History Channel from Emmy Award winning husband and wife team, Mark Burnett and Roma Downey. For two hours each Sunday night (rebroadcast Monday on Lifetime and Wednesday on History Channel) millions of viewers will see the Bible come to life in a way never before seen. The final episode of the series will air on Easter Sunday and will feature the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Other short clips:

I'm definitely
the Bible, God's Word
His Message, His Love Letter to us
as I plunge ahead completely in this
Bible Challenge of 40 Days
but here is the plan for this miniseries
in the churches for sermons and/or Bible studies

Journey from Death to Life
Genesis 22:1-19

Journey from Slavery to Freedom
Joshua 2:1-21; 6:20-25

Journey from Victim to Victor
Daniel 2, 3, 6

Journey from Religion to Relationship
Luke 19:28-48

Journey from Darkness to Light

John 20:1-29

(sample from church outline)

The Bible miniseries depicts:

Those few moments summarize a scene found in the Gospel of John. We’re going to explore it together, along with two other scenes that follow, to see three aspects of this “great salvation” we’ve been exploring in this series in the light of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. The first aspect, or facet, of salvation is this:

1.  I am saved from the darkness of confusion and given a new commission(Read John 20:1, 14–18.)
2.  I am saved from the darkness of fear and given a new peace and presence.

We need to support this project of bringing this kind of programs to television by viewing, telling and promoting it to others to let Hollywood know that this is what people need to view more than all the other 'stuff'. Since I could not view the above YouTube(YT), I am sharing other clips for the next few days available from The Bible Series Channel

Hoping to encourage viewers of the upcoming television series, “The Bible,” to delve into the Word of God by easily accessing scripture through the latest technology, producers Mark Burnett and his wife, Roma Downey, announced that the Bible App by YouVersion will host the official companion app for the series.

"PEACE FOR THE JOURNEY" by f. elaine olsen
1. Peace in the pardon
2. Peace in the mirror
3. Peace in the desert
4. Peace in the waters
5. Peace in the suffering
6. Peace in the mountains
7. Peace at church
8. Peace around the table with the ancients
9. Peace at home
10. Peace on the road

Intro verse: a promised peace

Micah 5:4-5

"Peace around the table with the ancients"

Luke 24:30-31

a Bible passage for each day this week

Hebrews 11:1-2
1 Peter 3:15-16
Luke 12:32-34
John 21:24-25
Hebrews 13:1

Leaving this in case I want to come back and share some REFLECTIONS or INSIGHTS on these devotions from Elaine:

1)"Lunching with the Ancients"
Hebrews 11:1-2
2)"Finding our Voices"
1 Peter 3:15-16
3)"A Treasured Storing"
Luke 12:32-34
4)"Praying like Ms. Iris"
John 21:24-25
5)"Concluding Exhortations"
Hebrews 13:1

I was a bit reticent to come back and share even my thoughts about this section (unlike last week when I just didn't get to the public cyber to share-ya' think that was the enemy trying to keep me from the "church" topic? hmmmm). However, as I began reading Elaine's words even in the first one "lunching with the ancients" ... I took pause, and then I knew I had to come and write about some of my thoughts on "the ancients".
And to think, I almost skimmed over this rather than dig in, which I'm now doing and soaking in Elaine's beautifully gifted way with words.

First off, I love how Elaine gives me a new awe and reverence to this stage of 'their' lives (and soon to be mine) even with the precious term of 'ancients' according to the biblical use in Hebrews and her own explanation of the definition. Elaine writes with such respect and honor as truly these people deserve. As I read and reread her words, that part in parentheses above, really got hold of me and struck me. I am on my way soon to being one of those 'ancients', God willing, and I look at my hands that already are showing this (we'll skip my face for now) and I pause to reflect on my life. There are so many parts that I'd love to quote from Elaine (and may) and I love how she centered this on "faith". Our faith. Their faith. My faith ...

Then I moved on to her 1st "further pause" and I really did pause as I read (who knows what will happen as I read each day's devotions and take them to heart anew):

"Who are the ancients in your life? What have they taught you about living?

Take time to read Hebrews 11 and consider the ancients listed. Which person would you most like to share a table with in order to glean some further wisdom and deeper, godly understanding?

Think of one "ancient" you could reach out to in this season of living. What are some practical ways you can connect with this person? Bring your relationship with him or her before the Lord and, in obedience, respond to God's prompting in the matter."

... If only she knew ...
how these words
"lunching with the ancients"
"finding our voices"
"a treasured storing"
and yet to be
ring in my spirit, mind and heart
this day as I pause, ponder, and pray

I guess my reticence was caught up in my own humanity and aging as well as my personal experiences with 'ancients'. I imagine it may be mingled with some fear in me rather than taking hold of the honor, respect and glory due them. I have shuddered at the thought of growing old. I do love a beautiful song "Grow old along with me...the best is yet to be" but that's about it. Quite honestly, I just don't want to grow any older. I've not enjoyed seeing others close to me grow old and when I see their age, somehow I have grown older along with them ... and it pains me as the years wear on so quickly that it escapes me and also leaves me somewhat in awe. I ache with hearts that have hardened over the years ... [Guess, I can't explain this too well. Hard for me to focus as I write with so many thoughts racing through my mind.]

Perhaps now, I will have a fresh perspective and a more listening heart, before I enter into that final stage of life. So I pause to reflect how will my life carry such wisdom and honor to others. What has God bestowed upon me in all these years with Him that I treasure that might convey a portion of God and His image better to the ones younger than I? What do I have of worth to give them other than the precious gift of Jesus? I have all that stored up in me and still so much work to be done on my vessel that I falter at the thought that some day, I may live to give these treasures and lessons with God's wisdom and grace to others. Indeed it is a "worthy pause" Elaine ... "a sacred moment, an incredible foretaste of a gracious plenty ..."

So I join Elaine in her prayer (maybe with some rewording and parts that I added in blue or leave out)

Oh Ancient One (Daniel 7), Most Holy Father ...

"Thank You Father, for surrounding my life with the ancients on Tuesdays. May They breathe the witness of faith unlike any other women in my life. You knew I needed them, Lord, and with gratitude I accept their influence over me. Script my heart with their certainty, hope and faith in the truth of who You are.
They are sure of their tomorrows. Let my life breathe with the same measure. And when we all finally reach our home with You in heaven, it surely would be nice to have a Tuesday table with our names on it. Please tell ... that we won't be long in coming."

Encompass the 'ancient ones' with a sense of Your Presence each day as You draw them closer to You. Wrap them in Your loving arms. Make them aware of their complete dependence on You and need for You. Attend to their every need. Be their Provider, Protector, Healer and Strength ... be all that You are magnified and ever present in each one. May their security be established in You and affirmed in their lives. Care for each one, especially any that may feel forgotten, forsaken, or hopeless. You are their hope. Restore their memories to all the good You have given them throughout their lives and remove any other thoughts that bring them harm and heartache in Jesus' Name

Peace in Christ,

SOS ~ Pathway to Peace

I shared this way back in 2008, when I began blogging and encountered this when I first joined "Spiritual Sundays", which have become "Soaking On SONday" for me. I felt it was time to dig it out and share it again ...

after all who among us could not benefit from a
Pathway to Peace

Matthew 5:9
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called
sons (and daughters) of God." NIV
NLT & KJV use "children of God"

"Paul gives us a wealth of ways to discover peace in the midst of the problems of life in Philippians 4:5-9.  Most of us understand what it is like to feel discouraged, defeated, and even depressed with life.

So what do we need to know in order to discover the pathway of God’s peace?

The first requirement to PEACE is Gentleness (v.5); the 2nd is Contentment (v.6), 3rd - Prayerfulness;  4th - Thankfulness ...

Along this pathway to PEACE, we EXPERIENCE the Peace of God, we ENJOY the Protection of God then we ENJOIN the Presence of God through Jesus Christ.

John 14:27 says, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Finally as a result of God's pathway to His Peace, we attain much more from that PEACE (v. 8-9):

A.   TRUTHwhatever things are true, the genuine, sincere, simple

B.   HONESTY, whatever things are noble, that which is honorable

C.   JUSTICE, whatever things are just, things that are right, good
D.   PURITY, whatever things are pure, pure thoughts, motives, acts
E.   BEAUTY, whatever things are lovely, beautiful character
F.    AFFIRMATION, whatever things are of good report, well-spoken of, a positive referral
G.  VIRTUE, if there is any virtue, excellence and courageous
H.  PRAISE, if there is anything praiseworthy, admirable, respectable
I.      DISCIPLESHIP, the things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, our Christian education and training
J.     OBEDIENCE, these do, not just believe these things but behave them also.
Jesus said, You know these things—now do them! That is the path of blessing. John 13:17
Let's JUST DO it!
as we
and follow
these steps along
on the only
that is
everlasting and true

I'm sharing something really different today, not because I'm recommending that we all watch or do Oprah's Life Class but because I recently became aware of this (since I don't watch or have the Oprah Channel OWN, it takes me a while to catch these kinds of programs) when I found out that different pastors have appeared such as Pastor Joel Osteen, Rick Warren and Dr. Gary Chapman. I'm sure there have been others.

Too often, I have found people condemning these pastors or saying bad things about them or their ministries, calling them false prophets, etc. However, since this last week, we looked at "peace at church" (in the church, which is what we each are) ... I would like everyone to lay down their preconceived ideas against other Christians and try to listen to what they say rather than speak against them or close your mind. I'm not sharing these to change you to follow anyone other than Jesus! But I am sharing this, so you begin to walk more in unity rather than dissension or criticism of others trying to reach out to others with Jesus, too.

Our world has enough negativity and the church (and its people, all of them, pastors and congregations) needs to be preparing us on a united front filled with HOPE and affirmations that inspire us to PRESS on ... like this video clip shares, THINK POSITIVELY and change the negative voices or patterns to positive ones:

If you want to know what you're going to be like in five years, Pastor Joel Osteen says, you should listen to what you're saying about yourself right now. Watch as he describes the power of words—both positive and negative. Plus, Oprah shares how replacing negative "I am" statements with positive declarations improved her attitude while filming the movie The Butler.

Stuck in a Dream Rut? How to Break Free

Pastor Joel Osteen says it takes just as much energy to worry as it does to believe in your dream. Find out how to break free from the negativity that could be holding you back from living the dream you have for your life.

Some quotes:

"Whatever follows "I am" is going to come looking for you."

"You're setting the tone for your life. If you want to know where or what you're going to be 5 yrs. from now, listen what you're saying about yourself now."

"Find something to be grateful for first thing in the day. Set the tone for your day."

"How can I turn this around?"

My purpose of "Grateful 2/4 God" (although we share only once a week on Thurs.) is meant for each and every 24 hours, all week. I so agree with the power of our words to ourselves and to others. This all ties back to the "inside chatter" that Lysa and Sheila shared on their live webcast, which too often is negative.

Pastor Joel Osteen Reveals How Peace Gives Us Power

Why We Wound Others with Our Words Pastor Chip Ingram from his current series on Five Lies that Ruin Relationships
Let's allow the POWER of GOD'S WORD to be reflected in our own WORDS to ourselves and thoughts of ourselves as well as the power of our words spoken forth to and about others at all times. God can and will bless our lives by the words we speak. We need to be fully aware that our words carry enormous power: power to heal, power to destroy, power to wound or discourage, or power to encourage and speak truth; power to praise or power to criticize and condemn. I know that I need to think more before I speak, to slow down, in fact, to pause, ponder and even pray before I allow my words to flow out of my mouth. Holy Spirit, please take control over my tongue and words (written ones as well) and until then guide me, stop me, or as we say with horses, put the bit in to bridle me better.

*... the reason I came across this was to view Pastor Rick Warren, from Saddleback Church (which I'll probably share on another post) even though I had seen Oprah once at Lakewood Church, and had heard about Pastor Joel going to be interviewed on her show, I did not realize that Oprah now does her own 'Life Classes' on OWN. Just remember, we do not follow anyone's teachings but keep our focus on God's Word, discerning and seeking His teachings above all else.
