"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

TRUTHS On TUES. STUDY (T.O.T.S.) EG~3

Each week, I'm alternating between 2 different series from "Living on the Edge" with Pastor Chip Ingram-weekday radio series. To learn more about what I'm doing, you can go back here. For "Finding God when you need Him most" ~ 1(EG~1) go there also. (EG~2Experiencing God (EG) in Times of Crisis was the previous one (two weeks ago).

Previous ones:

MARCH 7, 2012

How to Experience God When You Get a Raw Deal, Part 1

SCRIPTURE: PSALM 73

Experiencing God (EG)
When You Feel Like a Nobody, Going Nowhere
Messages with Pastor Chip Ingram
Part 1 (March 13, 2012)
Part 2 (March 14, 2012)

Psalm 139

5 Things to Remember when you feel ... like this:
Read Psalm 139
1. God knows you. v. 1-6
You are understood completely by God.
2. God is pursuing you. v. 7-12
You are wanted by God.
3. God made you. v. 13-16a
You are  AWESOMELY precious  in God's sight.
[covered in message of Part 1]
4. God has a plan just for you. v. 16b-18
You are indispensable  to God.
5. God's world is warped with wickedness. v. 19-24
You have a choice to make.

Action Steps
1. When was the last time you felt like a “nobody . . . going nowhere?”
2. What factors do you think cause you to think this way about yourself?
3. Which of the first “four things to remember” from Psalm 139 connected most deeply with your soul? Why do you think that particular point was significant to you?
4. How does getting “God’s perspective” of who we are change us? What are some practical ways for you to build on today’s message and get God’s view of you?
5. Did you pray verses 23 and 24? Did God show you anything? Who might help you take steps of faith to act on what God showed you?

#1. Maybe this is exactly what I'm struggling with “nobody . . . going nowhere"! Of course, I do realize, I'm somebody, but at times, I feel like I'm going nowhere and thus a somebody not doing much as I should or could be doing, going nowhere with the progress I'd like to be making. I am sure when I came here in the mid 90s, I felt like a real somebody, going somewhere with a real purpose and impact for Jesus, but it started with me feeling like a nobody as I began to believe that I'd never get here and that I was stuck in a rut, going nowhere back home. Reminded often that I had a calling but now someone else was not in this with me, nor interested any longer in even coming here as I had waited to do this all of my life up until then with the hope that we'd be coming here upon his retirement. Not so. I also was struggling with "being the problem" in our relationship, when in fact, the entire relationship was my problem. (enough about that) Yet so many lies, I listened and believed. (Did you notice the "ed" at the end of these verbs?)

#2. Mostly the factors of being reminded that we did not have a problem, but that I was the problem and had the problem, in my own mind, that did not sit well, and I was tormented by not knowing what I could do, how to erase my past or mistakes I had made and still not knowing God's desire for what I should do.

#3. I thought that "being awesome in God's sight" was what struck the deep chord in my being, until I read them again and focused on "God actually pursuing me", WOW, knowing that this is true and the truth bears witness throughout my entire life because I can see the thread of His Pursuit! (maybe this has to do with the emails I received in Feb. from Jud Wilhite's book "Pursued...") and the challenge of "Pursued:God's Divine Obsession with you" ... now that's AWESOME!

#4. Knowing or realizing that God passionately loves me as I do Him, helps me realize the significance of helping others to realize God's incredible love is meant for them. I've met too many dear people who have been given a message that they are not wanted; not loved; belong; trying so hard to be someone acceptable. Each one matters! You are indispensable! The problem is that perhaps some of you even, may not have yet signed on to His plan. Please listen to part 2 as Pastor Chip Ingram leads you ... this was the BEST!

PRAYER: "Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts (my failures, my misgivings)See if there is any offensive way (a way of pain) in me, and lead me in the way everlasting ... "

Here's where my battle begins. I have not yet arrived. I'm trying to grasp this and understand that: Help me turn to You with all my heart. I surrender my agenda to You. I choose to believe that I'm wanted, I'm understood, I'm accepted, I'm indispensable; I'm unique to Your plan!

You have made me precious in Your sight with value and worth I have not yet known but choose to believe. I believe You! I receive this message to increase my faith and grow in my relationship with You first, and then with others, too! I thank You for this message of Your view of me and the importance You plan and give me. Help me through the seasons of my life and leave the past behind and the fallen world, by showing me how to respond. Keep my focus on You! I am not a victim, I am a Victor in You.

I will draw near to You. Show me the clear direction and steps I need to do and experience being a SOMEBODY going SOMEWHERE designed by You! Thank You, Father!

Every other week, messages in this series, yet to come:

Talk It Over Discussion Questions

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first … earth was no more. … And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.”  Revelation 21:1-4 (ESV)

1. Have several people in your group take turns paraphrasing these verses from Revelation above, using simple language as though talking casually with children or with non-Christian friends. Focus on stating the key points.

2. Do you think these Revelation verses are just information for us, or do we need to take some action because of them? What might God expect us to do now, based on our understanding of the future situation they describe?

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.” Philippians 4:4 (ESV)

3. What does it mean to “Rejoice in the Lord”? What does it look like when you see someone do this?

4. Some of us tend to be naturally happy, while others of us tend to dwell on problems. Is it easy for you to “Rejoice in the Lord”? Can you describe a recent time when you simply rejoiced because of who God is? How do you do this, or how would you like to do this?

“ … Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6 (ESV)

5. Imagine not worrying about anything for the rest of your life, but instead praying each time you had a concern. What would be the effects on your life and relationships if this transformation in your thinking took place?

6. If you were in charge of employees or children and you assigned them a task, their faithfulness or dependability would determine whether you would worry if they’d complete the task. When people worry about anything in life, they treat God like an unfaithful employee. What steps might people take to strengthen their trust in God?

CHANGE IN PLANS (for now) FROM "THE GREAT HOUSE" to " STRESS LESS LIVING ..."

Change in plans, the story of my life, wishy washy me ... bear with me

UPDATE: This has all changed for many reasons, but mostly due to me not having my laptop working, or a new one yet, available internet service, and dependable public cyber hours, plus during the summer heat, etc. based on school vacations hours. SO I am not able to do this as planned here even if some post still(I hope I drafted them all for later maybe June, July), but I am not able to keep this going as I had hoped ... I really am sorry and disappointed, however, I did not want to erase what I have done here. The following is my original post between the stars (asterisks). You may skip this and go directly below to my new follow up post of "LESS STRESS" Study I have been doing in my SUNDAY STUDY (it'd be ideal to start this for Father's Day, we'll see)...

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
***
I have waited so long to do a study on one of the many wonderful books written by one of my very favorite authors. I considered doing a different one once upon a time, before this one, but when I was reading this one, I knew ... this was the ONE I was meant to do and share with you. I love the way Steve Halliday does the studies that accompany my author's books and they're usually included in the back of the books (a real added bonus)... so without further ado, I introduce to you ...

"The Great House of God"
A Home for Your Heart
by
Max Lucado

"God's greatest desire is to be your dwelling place. The home for your heart. He doesn't want to be merely a weekend getaway. He has no interest in being a Sunday bungalow or even a summer cottage. He wants to be your mailing address, your point of reference, your home...always. He wants you to live in the Great House of God.

Using the Lord's Prayer as a floor plan, bestselling author Max Lucado takes you on a tour of the home God intended for you. Warm your heart by the fire in the living room. Nourish your spirit in the kitchen. Seek fellowship in the family room. Step into the hallway and find forgiveness.

It's the perfect home for you. After all, it was created with you in mind. There's only one home built just for your heart. No house more complete, no structure more solid.

The roof never leaks. The walls never crack. The foundation never trembles.

In God's house, you're home. So come into the house built just for you. Your Father is waiting."

So
COME ON IN
and
let's do this together

What do you need?
It will probably help if you have a copy of the book, because due to copyright, I really can't share much as you've probably noticed in other studies. But whether you have the book or not, you are welcome to COME ON IN to the GREAT HOUSE of GOD study and share from your heart and personal experience.

A Bible

A Notebook, pen, pencil, highlighter ... or your keyboard and Kindle for PC allows you to do this: make notes and highlight

How will this go? Online setup for weekly discussion. etc.

Each week, we will do a chapter ... that's why I say 15 weeks
but we'll see.

Each Monday, we'll do "Let us Ponder"

Each Wednesday, we'll do "Let us Prepare"

and each Friday, we'll do "Let us Pray

I may do an *Intro to the chapter* on each Sunday Study and remind you what chapter we'll be doing that week. (*or a summary of what we've done and what room is next in God's Great House!)

You will be my small group for study and keep me accountable for our 'home inspection'. I knew that this was the right book and study because of the recent tragic event last fall in my MN actual physical house, and the months of gutting it out and starting over with a rebuild (just like when God spoke to me about reading Nehemiah and then Hosea) but our home will never be the same home to me. However, I believe that this has/had much spiritual implication on God in my home. My body, my person, is the spiritual dwelling place of God and is with me always/goes with me too except when I leave this earthly residence. It was time for a makeover or refinement. Gutting it out (perhaps), getting rid of all that stuff that really doesn't belong! Making and preparing my vessel for more of God. Cleaning out the old, bringing in the Holy Spirit to refresh and anoint with a newness that can only come through a personal home inspection. That's just what I've been doing in this long time away. That's what I will continue to do until Jesus Christ returns for me. I pray that by His Spirit, I (and you) will be filled as we look at "the floor plan" of the Lord's Prayer and renew our mind and lives. Let's restore, renew, rebuild, repent and revive our lives as God's precious "butterflies"!

So while we get ready to start (probably summer now)(this gives you plenty of time to get the book), I'd like you to think (ponder) and reflect (hopefully share in the comments)

"If you were to assign parts of a house to each part of the Lord's prayer, found in Matthew 6:9-13, how would you do it?"

No, peaking ahead at what Max Lucado has done (not even the content page) ... use your own creative ideas and thoughts!

We'll begin the
HOME TOUR
as soon as
I can
...

(it's looking like maybe we can do this in July)

Oh, and as I alternated between this and continuing with the following, Roy Lessin, from "Meet Me in the Meadow" was sharing these wonderful teachings [the source for the intro photo above]

Lord, Teach Us to Pray, Part 1

"Lord, teach me to pray—with a heart that knows You as my Father, with ears to hear Your voice and know Your will, with hands of faith to receive Your blessings, with a heart of mercy to extend Your forgiveness to others, with daily power to know Your triumph over evil, with the expectation of Your coming kingdom, with eyes to see Your glory and to delight in all that makes Your heart glad."

Maybe the wishy washy change of plans is God's way of saying to me, that to come into the "Great House of God" and truly pray and talk with Him in each of the rooms, especially if I plan on teaching from the great author Max Lucado and do the excellent Bible study of Steve Halliday, I first need to finish with the following...

"STRESSed LESS LIVING"
by
Tracie Miles
Stressed-Less Living

I hope to jump in and continue with the 12 week study with OBS with P31 at Melissa Taylor's blog cuz if you recall, way back in Week 1 (now on week ??? maybe 4) the initial blog hop had great topics* which I wrote, once upon a 'Sunday Study' night, that I would love to write on one or all of them ... and that's what I still hope to do.

* Here are were this week’s topics:
{The names in BOLD are suggested titles.}
1.  The Great I Am. “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with My victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 NLT
We have one power packed verse this week! Meditate on this verse for two-three days…how does your heart respond to His message to you? You could even do some “verse mapping” to really digest this verse. {Thanks Heather!!!}
2.  Stressed-Less. What is your goal for this study? What do you hope to learn or how do you hope to grow through this experience? Out of all the studies you could be doing right now…why did you choose this one?
3.  Real Problem. Chapter One. Out of the seven sections in Chapter One, which one hit home for you the most? What is it about that section that made you sit up and pay attention?
4. #Blessed. Stress can cause us to overlook the many blessings God has poured out into our lives. Make a list of five things God has blessed you with. Once you have listed five, try for five more…then five more…then five more. You can add to this list whenever you have something new to add. I.E. I am thankful for the dirty laundry because my family is well clothed. OR I am thankful for the beautiful weather we had today. OR Thank You Lord for my family.
and also the Take Away on Day 5 of SLL Week 1 assignment
..."Write a letter to you from God.  Use the verses listed above as a reference [Psalm 16:8Psalm 55:222 Samuel 22:7Psalm 34:17Isaiah 41:10] for what you think He may be saying to you. Keep this letter in your notebook or journal.  Read it to yourself and behold, this is God talking to you! From His Word to your heart. If you want to share it you can, but that’s completely up to you." ...
Sharing in another post(s) since this is already so long! Sorry! Maybe you'd like to write your own letter or choose one of the topics. Too late to link up to the blog hop but never to late to write on these topics:

(1)The Great I Am
(2) Stressed Less
(3) Real Problem
(4) "BLESSED"

[I will link to the post when I do it, OK?]
"I am so blessed" Karen Drucker

Congratulations!!!  if you really read through all of this jibber, but upon reaching here, you may think, based on all my recent posts (but remember, I wrote these a while back and dated/scheduled them ahead, then I come and add when I can, that's how they get so long, so sorry) (back to my point) that I am under STRESS, especially after seeing how I flip flop on my blog like this ... I just want to make it clear, I AM currently NOT under any major or even minor STRESS. I just could relate to these studies from so much in my past, and I am working through as much as I can, of and from my past, to better deal and be ready for the future! I have been so blessed by these studies and this is why I pass them on to you as BEST, and as limited as I can and have done.

What I should have done, is write my review of "The Great House of God" but as you can see, I truly am blessed and excited to have read, and doing this as a study, is my highest form of compliment to the author and the accompanying study. That goes for any book I read or share here. My review is upcoming (still) ... I hope to see you all in the Great House of God ... in any of the rooms but frankly when you come to my room here in blog land ... I am deeply blessed by you! Thanks!

GRATEFUL 2/4 GOD

For more about this, go back to here and follow any of these

I'm GRATEFUL to God
as
...

MY
EVERYTHING
TODO

At this time I have not been able to share my Gratitude for WHO God is in my life at the current moment because HE is my EVERYTHING daily, but I wanted to still post this so that you may share WHO HE IS TO YOU and GIVE THANKS 2 GOD 4 ALL HE IS and how you are experiencing God in your life in this present moment or week!!! Hopefully I will be able to continue sharing or come back and share soon. There is actually a site that is GOD.IS.EVERTHING but I wanted one verse that would say this:

SCRIPTURE:

Ephesians 4:6
Colossians 1:16

Of course, Psalm 23, with God as Our Shepherd, GNT version says "I have everything I need" for "nothing shall I lack" and Philippians 4:19, but I was not looking for God, as my Supplier or as some have said our "vending machine", nor as Jehovah Jireh - Our Provider, and indeed HE IS but I was searching for one that would show how He alone completes us and is everything each day. Yes, He meets us where we're at and fulfills that longing or part that we may need at that particular moment. Perhaps there is not one verse in the Bible, but it's an experience of the total of knowing God in so many facets that come alive in His Word and in our daily walk.

PRAYER:

Thank You
Lord
that
You are my Everything!

(I have two videos linked above of the same song, one in English the other in Spanish, and it was the one in Spanish that moved me first, and than as I listened in English more and more, it became engrained in me as my prayer!) I have now posted the song with both. This is why EVERYTHING is how I experience God for this week. The drama skit of this song I have seen many times and been impacted in a WONDER struck kinda way. And I guess that is why this song just touches me this way: WONDERSTRUCK. Thanks Margaret Feinberg and Women's Bible Cafe for a great 1st week of being in awe of God! It's only Day 4 and I am in complete WONDER of Divine Expectation. Although I could not get the white covered workbook through Amazon, Lifeway had it available in their new ereader, since I don't have my own laptop but using a public one (that and mailing aren't very feasible); I have immensely enjoyed the sample for this week)! And I highly recommend this for a small group study or individually (if you're in the pit or have forgotten the joy of our salvation or overwhelmed by all the yuck around us)! I shared this before, but just in case you missed it ...

If that doesn't INSPIRE you, check out the rest

***Oh, and if you have never seen the powerful drama of EVERYTHING, you must click on that and be inspired as you watch it. I was left in tears and cheering once again ... ***

***

How have you
experienced God this week?
(or would like to)

F: Focus on a Name of God or one of His attributes; Find a Verse
O: Open His Word~the Bible; allow God to reveal Himself
C: Center on HIM, Come into His Presence; let Him speak
U: Understand God and His Truth in His Word; Unmask your heart to God
S: Saturate and Soak as you Share your GRATITUDE for God to God
***
Just write on being grateful 2 God 4 who He is!
(in a prayer of gratitude)

Please tell us in the comments your response for the week to ...

"I'm grateful to God as my  ... because ...  or  "I'm grateful for God's  ... (quality) because ... (a Scripture would be nice if ya' got one in your head, or just come back, the blog's always here even when I'm not) or better yet you can write a prayer to Him right in my comments of how you experience God as that Name or quality of God

TRUTHS On TUES. STUDY (T.O.T.S.) KPA ~ 2

Two teaching series that I am sharing alternate weeks here are from "Living on the Edge" with Chip Ingram. I started last week with the other one, so for more about this go back there.

This week is "Keep Pressing Ahead" (KPA) How to Make it Through Anything ~ (pdf for all) It will be more helpful if you listen to Pastor Chip Ingram's message too (here) There are 2 parts: Nov.10 part 1; Nov.17 part 2

(each one links to pdf not the message)
  1. Facing Adversity
  2. Facing Discouragement
  3. Facing Internal Opposition
  4. Facing Personal Attack
  5. Facing Difficult Circumstances
  6. Facing Personal Failure

Facing Discouragement

Now I know this is one adversity that I do not handle so well, facing discouragement. Perhaps this is why I prefer to be as encouraging as I can to others. We never know what or when discouragements will arise in our lives or others around us. So I'm sure that I need this message from Pastor Chip Ingram taken from Nehemiah 4. It gets clearer every week why God put Nehemiah as one of the books I needed to reread and study last year and looks like this year after last year's discouragements.

The introduction for today starts off with "why must I keep pressing ahead?" and reviews what ADVERSITY is as well as the scripture passages for us to:

STOP
believing the
LIES
about adversity

  •   It's __________________.  John 16:33, 2 Timothy 3:12
• It’s   ____________________ .   1 Peter 4:12
• It’s    ____________________.   Romans 5:1-5
• It’s    ____________________.   1 Peter 5:10
• It’s   ____________________ .   2 Corinthians 4:16-18

This is so profound even in its simplicity that this should be our RESPONSE:

My Response (Motto) should be:
I can’t, He never said I could; He can, He always said He would. from God's Promise as found in Hebrews 10:36

The pdf for FACING DISCOURAGEMENT is excellent and shares many great points from Nehemiah's example and Chapter 4.

The best part is 4 resources to overcome discouragement as found in James 2:17;  Luke 1:37;  2 Timothy 4:7-8Hebrews 3:13 and 4 losses that are causes for discouragement, 2 attacks we face; and how Nehemiah responded. Nehemiah 4:4-6 and Nehemiah 4:13-23. I knew there was a reason God told me last year at this time to read Nehemiah during the "construction project" at my rental home in Mexico, I was so discouraged and it was just preparation for the ultimate discouragement of our home in MN being consumed by fire.

Here are the application/discussion questions (if you'd like to share any or all in the comments, it's up to you):
1. “God’s work is always carried out in a hostile environment.”  How does remembering this phrase encourage you?
2. In what ways are you experiencing discouragement with regard to living out God’s agenda in your life and relationships?
3. Which of Nehemiah’s examples of facing discouragement were most helpful to you?  Why?
4. What specific application do you need to use to deal with the discouragement you may be facing in your life?  Who could help you?

* I have these T.O.T.S. set up through June alternating Tues. between KPA "Keep Pressing Ahead" and EG "Experiencing God"
while I'm on hiatus (without my laptop and internet service, waiting). Plus the current series, I shared on MORE on MONDAY yesterday is so great, also on "Overcoming Emotions that Destroy". But any emotion can be negative or positive. Let's be as positive as we possible can in the dire situations throughout the world. Let's "KEEP PRESSING AHEAD!"

In May, I'm looking forward to doing my recent BookSneeze book that I'm reading to review as a weekly study for 15 weeks on M, W, F (maybe I'll do an intro on "Sunday Study" posting at 6 pm) and then M. will be our "ponder" day, W. will be our "prepare" day and F. our day to "pray" as always. The book is by my favorite author and that's why I can't wait.  THIS HAS NOW CHANGED TEMPORARILY. :0(
