"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

SOS ~ PEACE PAUSE

I’m leaving you peace. I’m giving you My peace. I don’t give you the kind of peace that the world gives. So don’t be troubled or cowardly." ~ NOG version

On a PEACE filled break during
JUNE and JULY
I hope and pray
so
my
SOS ~ PEACE
is on
PAUSE
although I'm still

I was going to leave you with the 'priestly blessing' found in Numbers 6:24-26 SO THAT "The Lord (would)bless you and keep you--the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious unto you the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace

However, a while back, in the beginning of 2013, I promised that there would be a time I would share more BLESSINGS with you. So each week, I will post some of those BLESSINGS written by one of my favorite authors, Max Lucado, until you receive all his "31 Blessings":

... continued from previous weeks ...
"Eleven – A Blessing for Faithfulness
Seek to be holy, and in seeking holiness, serve God. As you go into the world today, go in His presence, in anticipation of His glorious return. And when He returns, may He find you faithful.

“I pray that Christ will live in your hearts by faith and that your life will be strong in love and be built on love. And I pray that you and all God’s holy people will have the power to understand the greatness of Christ’s love— how wide and how long and how high and how deep that love is.” Ephesians 3:17-18

Twelve – A Blessing for Goodness
May God use you as a voice of holiness today. Seek the Father’s face and reflect what you see.

“Do not forget to do good to others, and share with them, because such sacrifices please God.” Hebrews 13:16

Thirteen – A Blessing for Quiet Time
As you spend time alone with God, allow the Lord to seed your heart with understanding. Invite Him to spade and dig and shovel and fertilize those seeds so that His words will take root and bear fruit. Trust God to defeat the one who is lurking nearby, seeking to steal the seeds before they hit the ground.

“Plant goodness, harvest the fruit of loyalty, plow the new ground of knowledge. Look for the Lord until He comes and pours goodness on you like water.”
Hosea 10:12

Fourteen – A Blessing for Trust
God is strong and can help you not to fall. He can bring you before His glory without any wrong in you and can give you great joy. He is the only God, the One who saves. To Him be glory, to Him be greatness, to Him be power and authority through Jesus Christ our Lord for all time, now and forever.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13, NIV

Fifteen – A Blessing for Righteousness
May the Father’s blessings be upon you as you go into the world today. Carry his banner. Reflect his love; embody his spirit. Show the tenderness that he has shown you. Give the grace you have been given.

“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are very glad.” Psalm 126:3

“Live in peace with each other.” 1 Thessalonians 5:13

TRUTHS OF TUES. STUDY (T.O.T.S.) EG~7

Each week, I'm alternating between 2 different series from "Living on the Edge" with Pastor Chip Ingram. To learn more about what I'm doing, you can go back here. For "Finding God when you need Him most" ~ 1 (EG1); go there also.

This is the 7th one from this series:
Experiencing God
(EG)
in
Times of Confusion
Part 1 (March 23, 2012)
Part 2 (March 26, 2012)

Pastor Chip Ingram starts out this one with defining "confusion". He continues with the problem with confusion and the cure with confusion.

Getting back to the basics
Psalm 90

Life is short. v.3-6
Sin is serious. v.7-10
Wisdom is essential.v.11-12
Mercy is available.v.13-15
Success is possible.v.16-17

6 Questions to ask when you're confused:
1. Am I rightly related to God?
2. Am I prepared to die?
3. Am I taking sin seriously?
4. Am I spending or investing my life?
5. Am I experiencing the joy of the Lord?
6. Am I impacting my world for good?

Life Application Questions:
1. In what area of your life are you experiencing the most confusion?
• Spiritual?
• Relational?
• Vocational?
• Other?
2. Place an asterisk next to the section of Psalm 90 (on page 2 of this handout) which spoke most powerfully to you. Share with your group (or write privately) why you think this section of the Psalm impacted you.
3. How does asking “the big questions” of life help us move from confusion to clarity? Which of the six questions helped bring clarity or a need for reevaluation in your life?
4. What one action step would demonstrate that you are serious about “numbering your days to gain a heart of wisdom?” Who will hold you accountable and encourage you for the next 45 days?

SOS ~ Study On SONday

In case you have not noticed, I'm currently posting only on Tues., allowing Grateful 2/4 God on Thurs. to post, and PEACE blessings on SOS earlier today; but not actively online, so I have tried to go back and update both Beth Moore studies (I started) and GMG (that I am trying to read/listen to and follow along) with "ANYTHING" yet I figure many of you don't revisit those posts, especially if you already saw them ... so really no sense in adding anything back to the original posts.

SO this is the sole purpose of this post ... two STUDIES that I shared here, worth catching up on plus "AFFLICTION" series by Beth Moore, if you missed it also on Life Today "Weds. in the Word" (oh, and of course the summer study Beth is doing on her Living Proof blog from a study by Priscilla Shirer on Gideon ... also available at Women's Bible Café, there are so many great opportunities to stay in God's Word all year long, no summer vacation without God.

The following quote works for all of these studies for me
putting them all together
for what God is speaking to me
from Beth Moore "... the essence of you and I living in the spirit, if you and I are going to do what God has called us to do, we will be in a situation, one way we're going to know is, it is going to be more than what we can do -- it is going to be more than we can do.

In other words, we're going to constantly -- if we are operating in our full on gifting, in our full on calling, we will constantly be telling the Lord, "I am not big enough for this job."

Do you see how opposite this is? Because we will constantly be saying, because whatever your calling is, you cannot do it in your flesh. You cannot do it in your human gifting. You can only do it in the spirit. It can only be done through the power of the Holy Spirit, yielding to the spirit so that He can do it through you. So the true heart before God, the authentic heart before God says, "Listen, I'm not up for this! This is more than I can do..." ~ Beth Moore

Guess I needed to be reading the Gideon one for some STRENGTH! "Gideon: Your Weakness, God's Strength ... WOW! Praying God's strength for each of you for whatever you're facing. We all need to be strengthened by the power of the Holy Spirit!

This week’s Challenge (from GMG's last week):

Have you been afraid to dream to the glory of God?  What dreams has God placed in your heart that He wants you to prayfully pursue.  Some dreams are not meant for this season of life.  (God had me in a “waiting period” for over 10 years between college and blogging…until his timing was right for me to write. ~ Courtney from GMG)  Are you in a waiting period?  Write out a dream you have –and pray over it today.  Like my dream to be a missionary –it may not be the exact dream that God has for you, but it’s a starting point.

Pray today – God, you have my everything – now use me for Anything.

... continued from previous week of Blessings 1-5 ...

"Six – A Blessing for Conviction

As your day begins, may the Father’s blessing be upon you. Be His quiet and holy representative. Be the one who takes a stand for that which is right. Be the one who reminds the world of what really matters in our world. Be the voice of God and the promise of eternity.

May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father encourage you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say. God loved us, and through His grace He gave us a good hope and encouragement that continues forever.” 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

Seven – A Blessing for Guidance

May the Spirit which lives within you guide and convict you. Remember the message which brought you to Him. Let it be the message you share with others. May peace and power be yours today.

I pray that the God who gives hope will fill you with much joy and peace while you trust in Him. Then your hope will overflow by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

Eight – A Blessing of Anticipation

In everything you do today, may your spirit be one of eager expectation and patient trust. Eagerly expect your Father to return any minute, but patiently trust Him to do what is right.

Our homeland is in heaven, and we are waiting for our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, to come from heaven.” Philippians 3:20

Nine – A Blessing for the Soul

May the song within you which sings for eternity, sing loudly. Heed the songs of heaven. Dismiss the songs of earth. May the Father quiet the voices around you which tell you to settle for less than what He promises.

Always be joyful. Pray continually, and give thanks whatever happens. That is what God wants for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Ten – A Blessing for Eternity

Look for the Father’s face today. Seek Him. Search for Him. Pursue Him. And may what you see cause you to long for the day you see Him eternally.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In God’s great mercy He has caused us to be born again into a living hope, because Jesus Christ rose from the dead. Now we hope for the blessings God has for His children. These blessings, which cannot be destroyed or be spoiled or lose their beauty are kept in heaven for you.” 1 Peter 1:3-4 ~ Max Lucado

TRUTHS OF TUES. STUDY (T.O.T.S.) KPA~6

Two teaching series that I am sharing alternate weeks here are from "Living on the Edge" with Chip Ingram. I started last week with the other one, so for more about this go there.

This week is "Keep Pressing Ahead" (KPA) How to Make it Through Anything ~ (pdf for all) It will be more helpful if you listen to Pastor Chip Ingram's message too (here) ~ last two.

(each one links to pdf not the message)

  1. Facing Adversity
  2. Facing Discouragement
  3. Facing Internal Opposition
  4. Facing Personal Attack
  5. Facing Difficult Circumstances
  6. Facing Personal Failure

Facing Personal Failure, Part 1 (January 5, 2013)

Facing Personal Failure, Part 2 (January 12, 2013)

This is kinda depressing to have started 2013 with our personal failures but it is from this place that we can look forward to a new year of personal triumphs over our failures and life situations.

Nehemiah 8

The Pain of personal failure
Psalm 32:3-5
The Pathway to restoration
Psalm 32:6-7
The Promise of God's deliverance
Psalm 32:8-10
The Problem:
How does it actually work?

The message notes in the pdf include:

3 Conditions for Spiritual Restoration:
We must ...
1. return to the ____Nehemiah 8:1-8
2. respond to the ____Nehemiah 8:9-12
   3._______to our lives. Nehemiah 8:13-18

asking these 3 ?s for each one in Nehemiah:
• What did they do?
• How did they do it?
• What about us?  You?

Discussion Questions:

1. What impressed you most about Nehemiah 8?  Why?

2. Share a passage from the Bible with the group that reinforces the power of God’s Word in our lives.  (i.e. Psalm 19, Hebrews 4:12, Matthew 4:4, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
3. Which of the three conditions for spiritual restoration most applies to your life right now?  Why?
4. How has God used His Word in your life in the past?
5. What specific step or direction do you sense God would have you take to prepare you for a deeper work of the Spirit in and through your life?  What might that look like this week?

Let's
KEEP PRESSING AHEAD

even though this series is over
there's so much more to learn and share

I'm so thankful
for the ministry of
"Living on the Edge"
and
Pastor Chip Ingram's
messages and teachings

This is my way of sharing as if we are a small group, listening and discussing all that he makes available through his weekly and weekend broadcast series online, television, radio, podcasts ... really wonderful, applicable instruction for our lives. Thanks!
If you've benefited from these and are able, please support or contribute his ministry or purchase from his store for your use.

SOS ~ PEACE PAUSE

I’m leaving you peace. I’m giving you My peace. I don’t give you the kind of peace that the world gives. So don’t be troubled or cowardly." ~ NOG version

On a PEACE filled break during
JUNE and JULY
I really hope, pray and need this PEACE
but
my
SOS ~ PEACE
is on
PAUSE
however but
I'm still

I was going to leave you with the 'priestly blessing' found in Numbers 6:24-26 SO THAT "The Lord (will) bless you and keep you--the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious unto you the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace

However, a while back, in the beginning of 2013, I promised that there would be a time I would share more BLESSINGS with you. So each week, I will post some of those BLESSINGS written by one of my favorite authors, Max Lucado, until you receive all his "31 Blessings":

"... May each day’s blessing encourage you as you seek your Father’s face.
One – A Blessing of Hope
May the God of peace, the eternal One and only God, grant you an awareness of His immediate return. May you be patient, may you be eager, but most of all may you be found ready when He calls.
“Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” 1 Peter 1:8, NIV
Two – A Blessing of Grace
Today, may you go in the grace and peace and the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. May the grace he has given you be the grace that you share with others.

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing.” Galatians 2:20-21, NIV
Three – A Blessing for Protection
May the God of peace and grace and truth be your guide as you begin your day. May He go ahead of you and prepare the way. May He come behind you and protect you. May He surround you and make you aware of His presence.

“I ask the Father in His great glory to give you the power to be strong inwardly through His Spirit. I pray that Christ will live in your hearts by faith and that your life will be strong in love and be built on love.” Ephesians 3:16-17
Four – A Blessing for Daily Worship
Today, may you be aware that worship is a way of life — it’s not just a once a week event. May your worship never cease. May you continue living in the Father’s presence, and may you continue being thankful for what He has done.
“Shout to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with joy; come before Him with singing. Know that the Lord is God. He made us, and we belong to Him; we are His people, the sheep He tends. Come into His city with songs of thanksgiving and into His courtyards with songs of praise. Thank Him and praise His name. The Lord is good. His love is forever, and His loyalty goes on and on.” Psalm 100
Five – A Blessing for Encouragement
May you know the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ today. Let His spirit overshadow and consume you. I pray that it gives you strength and courage and focus in everything you do today.

“God will strengthen you with his own great power so that you will not give up when troubles come, but you will be patient. And you will joyfully give thanks to the Father who has made you able to have a share in all that He has prepared for His people in the kingdom of light.” Colossians 1: 11

ORGANICALLY CHANGED

with

"The Organic God"
by
Margaret Feinberg

As this video starts out with the pure beauty of God in a scene, this is how Margaret Feinberg describes and illuminates Him as she draws and compares to beautiful places in the wonder of God to the nature all around us but mostly from her own life experiences in Alaska from the waters to the mountains to the glaciers. It's ...

"Natural. Pure. Essential.

Margaret Feinberg - popular speaker, author, and one of the “Thirty Emerging Voices” of Christian leadership - asks you to imagine what it would look like to have an organic relationship with God. One that is stripped of all pollutants and additives of this world.

The Organic God helps remove the unhealthy fillers and purifies your relationship with the God of the Scriptures.

Through personal stories and scriptural insights, Margaret Feinberg shares glimpses of God’s character - big-hearted, kind, beautiful, mysterious - that point to an authentic and naturally spiritual relationship with Him, allowing you to truly discover God in a healthy, refreshing new way, and fall in love all over again."

I have waited, what seems like forever, since I met this "wonderstruck" author via her Lent Challenge (I shared here on my blog) to be able to read any one of the books, or studies written by Margaret Feinberg, so I was more than excited when Booksneeze announced that "The Organic God" would be one of the available choices this past month. [the reason I hurried to post my review of "Nearing Home..." by Billy Graham and now sharing this so I can quickly make my next selection for another book that's been on my 'wish list' since it came out.]

Meanwhile, I read and viewed all I could about Margaret Feinberg's books on her blog, from her samples to all of her blog posts just to absorb more of her wonderful, enthusiastic love of God and His Word!

Margaret Feinberg flows naturally with an enjoyable, likable, contagious, personable, intelligent approach and her writing style draws me in. Her expressive, descriptive way leaves me wanting more of what she has and I love the way she writes so richly from her heart and her intimate experiences.

"The Organic God" is an easy, enjoyable, quick read, of two days for me, that challenges, refreshes and encourages me to seek God in a new way and deepen my relationship naturally. Although Margaret covers deep questions of our relationship with God, she does so without actually speaking theologically, but weaves all of this through many delightful and beautiful personal life stories. Her knowledge of scripture and the pure beauty of her relationship with God and His Word is so evident and phenomenal in every part she writes, but she does not fill the 10 chapters with actual scripture references, so as not to take away from her flow of the story and God's glory. She does however add footnotes to the scriptures and additional notes in the back as well as some other great extra features: a list of songs to accompany you on your journey through her book (which, of course, I just had to make a You Tube Playlist of her "Organic God soundtrack" and other related videos of her), a section of "rainy day reflections" with an inspiring study guide of questions to personalize your journey along with hers. I know I will return to reread this and reflect with awe the questions and "dig deeper" (a wonderful bonus) and even a 'behind the scenes' section!

My purpose for so wanting to read this is in the subtitle of "The Organic God ... Falling in Love with Him All Over Again" and that is exactly what Margaret helps us to do and enjoy through sharing her life and discovery of a personal God of beauty, simply in love with us, making me want to pursue and be pursued even more deeply. I am ready to fall in love again and again, being refreshed by Him. I was 'Wonderstruck' and that's a totally different book of hers to experience.

I cannot say enough about this book! Every word and section deepens my desire for a relationship with "The Organic God" as Margaret Feinberg makes Him so vivid and alive. I found this to be truly inspiring, as I laughed, cried and enjoyed her nature adventures and life. I have so many highlights in her book to emphasize to me all of God's many splendors, attributes and ways that He intimately calls us His own and invites us to discover more. It's evident that Margaret's Jewish-Christian family has radically rooted and established her with a deep connection to God through His Word and His beautiful interactions with her in her life, which comes vividly alive in the pages of her exchanges with God and her family, especially her dad, which warmly touched my heart and made a deep connection for me to our Heavenly Father's relationship with us.

Even the cover of the book, makes me want to take the plunge and go deeper being refreshed in a natural, non-pollutant, non-additive relationship with the beauty of Our Creator. I never thought anything "organic" was possible in a relationship nor that I would be so taken in by wanting that with God Himself until Margaret drew me to be interested in the awesome wonder with a much better understanding of the raw beauty and His. Almost makes me want everything "organic" now and view more details in my relationships and nature with a new, fresh perspective.

Margaret's descriptive beginning with the 'luminescence' and all her beautiful descriptions of nature that she's experienced, to the very end, tying it all together with this 'luminescence', captivates the great moments of God's attributes (which I totally love) as she displays throughout her journey from "His bigheartedness, His amazing wisdom, His outrageous generosity, His abundant kindness, and of course, the deep mystery of how He can use people like you and me to change the world" and that "...there is still so far to go" makes me want to discover more from "The Organic God" allowing me to be aMazed even more as my "hunger for God lives on" with hers and I, too, "see a flicker of light as something stirs in the depths of my soul" beckoning me to seek a more purified relationship with the Holy of holies, the Lord God Almighty, personified in Jesus Christ! This is a 5 star keeper and go deeper!!! Thanks Margaret!

By the way, Margaret has a Summer Bible study on her blog that you may want to check out and be astonished by "the lengths God will go to reveal Jesus" ... from the Gospel of John.
