"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

THIS MONTH in the 60s and ME! ~ Day 30

plus the Intro makes 31 Days!

Perhaps after this full month in the "Sixties" ... I should have chosen a different book to share memories like:

... or a different theme or topic like "60 Lessons Learned" or "60 Years to Learn..." or perhaps I should have focused on a more spiritual theme such as "60 Verses with Personal Significance". Probably the "Suddenly Sixty" fits me best and I could have most certainly focused on 60 Christian Songs or Verses.
Yet still, I chose the music of the sixties, just to be a bit different here and a little more upbeat, off my norm ... not really :0)

<><><>

After all this, I can't quite find a way to sum up all this year or this month or a life of 60 years, so the best I came up with is not a summation at all ... I came across many wonderful sites but one in particular as I worked through this adventure in music and the top billboard songs of the 60s ... here are the #Number One songs for my birthday from 1954-2013 ... then I went back and added the years that they had on record before my time... to compile the following list (because --- well, some of them are my favorites)

So how many of these do you know?
{I have to admit that I know most of them until we reach the last decade here}

Maybe you weren't around in the 60s or for all these years, but it's still fun to take a musical journey. "I Got a Feeling" ... we're in for some more ...

I checked around for the TOP 100 SONGS for the SIXTIES (that was too big to list) or do (I guess).

Here are some interesting links:

Barbara has a really good collection {and she might have been my source for my lists for each year, since I kept the lists from long time ago, but not the source-sorry} on her blog. It looks like she did this for each decade. I like this that she wrote on the sixties:

"The sixties were the age of youth, as 70 million children from the post-war baby boom became teenagers and young adults. The movement away from the conservative fifties continued and eventually resulted in revolutionary ways of thinking and real change in the cultural fabric of American life.

No longer content to be images of the generation ahead of them, young people wanted change. The changes affected education, values, lifestyles, laws, and entertainment. Many of the revolutionary ideas which began in the sixties are continuing to evolve today."  ~

to the #Number One songs (Top 5) for every yr. 1946-2013 WOW wee!

Number #1 Songs by Year too!
1960; 1961; 1962; 1963; 1964; 1965;
1966; 1967; 1968; 1969

After all this, you'd think that I'd have something special or important
to add or say about the Sixties or even being 60
(since almost a whole month has gone by already)

Loving music has made life a bit more enjoyable!

I lived through the Sixties, but the Sixties does not define me or live through me - although I may be considered a "baby boomer" or a revolutionary, I am exactly as God created me to be and still is forming through this process called life. I may be in a new season, edging toward the "winter" of my life, but I still have a few more springs, summers and falls to fulfill all I'm designed to be and do completed to the best of my ability or capacity.

Looking at all of the
Sixties Top Songs
has not made me a better person
or
wish I could be in the 60s again
nor
does any one year stand out
as being the
BEST

yet
I know that the year I am living
can be the
BEST YEAR YET
and
I look forward
to every year that I am given
as a blessing from
God
to continue enjoying life to the fullest

drawing closer to Him
(for I know that each year brings me closer to being with Him)

THE BEST IS YET TO BE

"GROW OLD ALONG WITH ME"

May I finish my sixties even better than the first 60 years
showing how much
I love Our LORD
that indeed
it might be said of me
Peggy
grew old
knowing God, loving God and serving God
each year
a little bit better
"to see God more clearly. love Him more dearly and
follow HIM more nearly"
DAY by DAY

I want to make my life count and change my self to be worth counting

Dusting myself off from the ashes of the fire that occurred on this day in 2012
wiping out years of memories and treasures held onto dearly by us
even the onset of dementia of someone very dear to me
yet it will not erase what was or will be

GOD restores and redeems!
He is faithful!

HOLDING ON TO
HOPE with HOPE
Peggy

And tomorrow we rush right into another
30 Days of
Giving Thanks
I do hope that you'll join me

CHOICE for 69 ~ Day 29

The following words capture my heart and portray well
MY ONE WORD for 2014
HOPE

"...A time for us ... someday there'll be ...
When chains are torn by courage born
of a love that's free
A time when dreams... so long denied
Can flourish
as we unveil the love we now must hide

A time for us... at last to see...
A life worthwhile for you and me
And with our love through tears and thorns
We will endure as we pass surely through every storm
A time for us someday there'll be
A new world,
a world of shining hope for you and me

A time for us at last to see
A life worthwhile for you and me
And with our love through tears and thorns
We will endure as we pass surely through every storm
A time for us someday there'll be
A new world, a world of shining hope for you and me

SO MY 1969 CHOICE

A TIME FOR US
In case you did not know or know me well, I am a lover of "theater" and dance. Shakespeare is just one that I totally have loved to read and see done. So it delights me that my last choice combines my love of music and theater.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet ", also known as "A Time for Us", is an instrumental arranged by Henry Mancini (from Nino Rota's music written for Franco Zeffirelli's film of Romeo and Juliet, starring Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey). It was a number-one pop hit in the United States during the year 1969. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart on June 28, 1969, and remained there for two weeks; it was also his only Top Ten single on that chart.[1]
Rearranged by Mancini, the song started competing with rock and roll songs from The Beatles and the Rolling Stones on an Orlando, Florida radio station and spread from there. It faced stiff opposition from some radio stations for being too soft. Those stations had to change their mind when the song became number one.[1]
This release also topped the U.S. easy listening chart for eight weeks where it was Mancini's sole number one on the chart.[2]"

yet somehow

even with this theme as my song choice
and
the reality
that
there is/will be
"A Time for us"

there was another song that year that the title goes with this

"Someday we'll be together"

For in all the good and the bad in this world, we (as Christians) believe that there is a better "Time for us" coming and our hope is that "Someday we'll be together" ... at least as I reminisce through these 60 years of life and the music of the 60s became my diversion project this year ... I hold on to my beliefs from God's Word that HE has a better plan, a better "someday" ...

"Another Place, Another Time"
which to me, is a favorite and tops
and says all that I believe so much better, the way I'd like
(and with one of my favorite singers)

"Sometimes I can't hardly wait..."

and
knowing this

is
MY HOPE

for that time and that place

with the extra
sweet bonus of meeting
each of you

FACE to FACE

H.U.G.
until then
