W.O.W. ~ "Fresh Courage"

When I don't feel like Walking and I really need to hear God
WHISPER On Weds.


even if it's time for a
WALK ON WEDS.

or 

being in His
WORD On Weds.

I'll just be content
to HEAR the 
sweetest
Whisper On Weds.
clearly

{which is something I can really use every day actually, but especially since last Thurs. devastating news - not really ready to deal with it or blog about it at all however I left some of it in the SOS comments this past Sat./Sun.}


So here's the truth, I'm just not up for a

WALK

in fact, I'm thinking, it will be a long, hot summer
with less and less "walks" (W.O.W.) perhaps not many more,
the "walk" is just not in me, and my pace has become a bit shaky, slow, and not so steady
in fact, down right off-balanced
{not physically yet - thank God; I'm speaking about being spiritually and emotionally shaken}

We get to places or times like these often in our

WALK

and then, we might lean in just a bit closer as I did

when 

I Hear His Whisper

saying

I definitely need the "Fresh Courage" and the encouragement
yet I could not grasp how any of the rest of this message
pertained to me in my current circumstances
except for guidance and courage
and of course, the strength
that this started with

"Strength in Letting Go"

" 1. On a scale of 1 to 10, how controlling are you? Describe why you rated yourself this way. What is your reaction when things happen that are beyond your control?
2. This reading reminds us: “the ultimate goal is not to control or fix everything around you; it is to keep communing with Me.” If the measure for success in our day is how much we are in touch with God, and not what we’ve accomplished, how successful are your days? How can you let go of some of the details in order to accept each day as it comes and find God in it?"


Lord, Please help me with this issue of control;
 both being controlling and the fear of being controlled
from being controlled which partly is why I control


#1. I guess I'll be admitting to being nearly an "8" {how sad to say, very sad} and even more difficult and sad to react as one. I am so not at all alright with this, or having to admit this. The victims of my controlling may even put me at a higher number, unless they have met someone {as I have} that is more of a controller. This is no excuse, just the facts. Plus, I do not think I was always controlling until complete control was taken away from me. I'm guessing that it's probably this which makes me hold on wrongly to being in control, along with my insecurities. God help me. It's certainly not that I'm so smart or perfect, yet my tendency is to prefer some things done as I'm use to or need to or see best for me or them. When things happen beyond my control, which often is the case, I despair and sometimes fight back for more control, but I also sometimes just try to escape by getting away from it completely. How did the apostle Paul say it? ... why do I do what I do not want to do (Romans 7:15-20) ... yep, that's controlling. I should be able to write a book on this one ... I really just need to allow others the same freedom and choice God gives me, except when it impacts me, it really is a struggle. Gotta let go. Gotta let God! and stop trying to fix it or play god (ouch) for someone else. I know I don't like it when others are that way with me. Both sides of this coin flip lopsided. My how I wish I could fix everything and everyone, which includes me, myself and I.

Guess I really needed these questions and devotion to awaken me, because I do know that God is in ultimate control. And I gratefully will release control to Him

"1. Today’s reading reminds us: “thankfulness keeps you from criticizing and complaining: those ‘sister sins’ that so easily entangle you.” Are there areas in your life where you find yourself being critical
of others or complaining about your own state of affairs? What are some ways you can shed a different light on these situations in order to move from complaining and criticizing to trust and thankfulness? "

#3. Giving over to a complaining or critical spirit can also lead to the death of a hopeful outlook in life, leaving us drained and defeated. In Psalm 141:8, David prays, “But my eyes are fixed on you, O Sovereign LORD; in You I take refuge—do not give me over to death.” When you are tempted to complain, immediately think of something you are thankful for and lift those thoughts to God before uttering the complaints. See what a difference this might make in your life for just one day alone!

S.O.S. ~ Longing for more "Grace"

This Scene is perfect for an S.O.S. and so is this Song. I just was not sure which song of Laura Story's would go best with this image {which reminds me so much of walking through the pines back home in MN, as if I had taken this photo}, but I do know that TREASURES and WALKING through VALLEYS will ALWAYS call for more of His aMazing Grace, so ... picking us up, when we fall so short of His glory, or letting each other down, or failing somehow in the MESSES we continue to make; does not necessarily mean that we would choose the path through the troubled times and the many valleys, yet without a doubt, we know that God's Grace will help us through and even help us discover some TREASURES while we're there but I think I'd prefer finding treasures on a beach or in the mountaintops ... however, I'll always be grateful for any treasure found in the valley ... in fact, I believe we even need to search harder and more closely in the valley for what treasures may be found as we continue to seek His face and more Grace

I found the Intro in the TPT email to the above devotional to be just as powerful and meaningful to the message from God's passion as shared in Philippians, one of the most recent releases done in The Passion Translation.{click on the link of Philippians above*} --- yep, joy and rejoicing, nothing more powerful than God's love! I can't remember if I already shared this from when I arrived back in the USA on my recent trip home for my dear uncle's celebration memorial ... as I envisioned my uncle while above the clouds, being welcomed home ... unlike other times coming home, these were the only words, I heard repeated 3 times while going through the tedious task of Customs with Immigration officials telling me,

"Welcome home"
and just 
let me tell you 
how good it feels
to
HEAR
those
words

{even by people}

though
I still am
"Not Home Yet"


but I pray that all those who have gone before me
truly are
HOME
as
I look forward to that

"The Longing in Me - How Everything You Crave Leads to the Heart of God" By Sheila Walsh 

To me, one of the marks of a good book, an exceptionally good book which this is, seems to be how well does it resonate in your soul and changes something within you as you read, and as in this one, "leads you to the heart of God". It not only inspires you and strikes a chord deep within, but reading the book helps you "change the way you respond to life's stresses" {boy, do I need this} or life in general, and your perspective is awakened in a fresh way. That's what Sheila's "Longing ..." book is ...



Sheila Walsh not only states in her intro that this is part of her prayer for this book, but that it helps the reader (me, in this case; or you, if you're bold, brave and bright enough to read it) "find the one true Source who can meet your deepest longings so you can change..." and "give you tools to heal from the past and find joy today." And no one can do this as well as Sheila, with her honest and vulnerable style of writing, weaving her own personal life story and testimony, with a well known biblical figure of a man "after the heart of God" - as she walks us through David's life and worst choices, her life and the life of other women, like me and perhaps you, to study the "Longings" and "learn how to channel those to know God more" and help us "determine what to do when we lose our way", as often we do and have yet realizing that "Longings are part of life." ... not just good or evil.

... "We long to be seen.
We long to be chosen.
We long to be loved.
We long to know that we matter."

"When those longings are left unmet, what do we do? Where do we go?"

Sheila shows us in 10 chapters that she "believes it is a sacred ache, a longing for the very heart of God" and I couldn't agree more. In fact, Sheila's life story is one I can relate to ever so well and I find myself reading and rereading the parts that sound so familiar and have to pinch myself trying to remember she is writing about her life (or David's) not mine, still she tells it so remarkably well "I get it", which is why it resonates with me every step of the way and each longing or vignette touches my heart in a way that changes me, awakens me and illuminates a light in what use to be darkness or dark moments. So I nod as I read along, knowing that this book is making an impact and a difference in me in ways that only God knows. 


Those 10 chapters touch on our longings: the longing to be chosen, the longing to be protected, the longing for what use to be, the longing for control, the longing for your rights, the longing for that one thing you think you need :) - the longing to make everything right, the longing for what would glorify God, the longing to share the grace and mercy we've received from God and the longing for God alone. Each chapter starts out with a Scripture verse and of course, elaborates on a portion of King David's biblical story with the sharing of Sheila's own life experiences, some parts never written about before this book. "The fact is, your longings are built from the blueprint of your needs: for protection, for love, for God. And those needs aren’t going anywhere. You vowed you’d never repeat the same mistakes—yet you find yourself right where you started. What is it that keeps drawing you back into the same old traps?" Sound familiar? well, it sure does to me ... "If you keep reaching out to the wrong people at the wrong times in your own life, "The Longing in Me" will help you understand that your cravings are not the problem. It’s where they lead you that makes all the difference." (parts of the actual book description)

enhance this book greatly!

I so enjoyed watching Sheila in the beautifully chosen scenes of these DVDS and listening to her speak with us
in the 6 sessions that Study Gateway made available to us during the online study at Faith Gateway.

However, just reading this book alone will help anyone
but especially those hurting from their past
and trying to fill the voids in your life with anything
or 
leading you to long for the wrong thing;
to fill what only God can fill
and He will
as
you read this book

Great for individual or small group studies with the Study Guide.
{although I prefer the Study Guides included in the book}
