"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

30. NEW LIFE! First, my life made new in Christ. And then, my sister wrote me and told me that my niece (her daughter) is expecting. So, my sister will finally be a "gramma"...she's waited long enough. Need prayers for my niece & this new baby for all to go well with arrival date next July. Praise God! Thank You, Lord ...for the gift of new life!

29. Simple things in life...water, air, toilets, transportation, feet to walk, hands to hold, eyes to see, ears to hear, smell (but not at the dumpsite or certain other foul smells) taste:TO TASTE & SEE HOW GOOD THE LORD IS & HAS BEEN & WILL BE

28. Some of my favorite things: Dr. Pepper ... licorice(red) ... rutabaga & cranberry sauce ... raspberry jam or coffeecake...

27. Memories of family times gathered together at Thanksgiving & Christmas with an unbelieveable spread of GREAT food prepared by my mom! Heaven bless her!

Not one of my Thanksgiving meals that I ever tried to make compares but I know it was made with LOVE and desire to create family times. For love of family~no matter what~even if times were not always perfect or "heavenly", my dad provided well for us and we lived comfortably & well fed...perhaps there were not healthy moments, perhaps there were conflicts and disagreements, but there was always

LOVE & provision and GOD in the center of our lives.

25. modern conveniences that I use to have back home in MN but learning how to make due on less here in Mexico...though I have a microwave...I don't have a stove with an oven to do a turkey...but I'm even thankful for my mini-fridge...my 2 grill stovetop...my fan & AC...my stereo(even if it does not recognize my CD to play it & I just fixed it)...and a new contraption I have for my large water bottle that tips so I don't have to...and my water heater with gas tank now though it's not lit yet(but no water most afternoons anyways)when I need a shower.

How I long for a warm bathtub to soak in & relax! Maybe I need a treat and go to the Holiday Inn!

24. never having to live in a jail or prison so far,(I already mentioned FREEDOM before)but I'm talking about being locked up though sometimes people outside of "jail" are in more bondage & have less freedom and live in captivity...(this gratitude is after visiting the jail/prison here which is a horrendous place, definitely not ministry that I'd be interested in doing on a regular basis, so I'm thankful for the people that do go and minister to the prisoners both here in Mexico & USA). This does make me remember I time that I was locked up for 2 weeks but that's a whole 'nother story that I find not helpful to talk about or even remember. But it's the afterwards, living not locked up but fearing that happening again or not being in control of it & dreading the entire experience and the continual impact and driving force within to never be in a place like that! I can't even imagine being imprisoned for my faith as many are suffering in these days. Thank You Jesus...watch over our brothers & sisters that are not allowed to live in freedom to worship You! Surround them with heavenly angels & protection. Be there in their time of great need!

23. the AIR I BREATHE (spiritually & physically)...and a good Sunday of BIBLE TEACHING /PREACHING! I am so blessed!

22. BOOKS & MOVIES or movies made from great books for children & adults!

21. Children (especially the precious little Mexican faces every morning at the "Desayunadores" Children's Feeding Centers).

20. Women BIBLE studies, on line and in person, conferences, retreats, seminars ...any opportunity to GROW together in our Christian life with sisters & BE the Woman of God that He purposes and calls us to encourage & bear one another in love (I discovered another resource)

19. GOD's PROVISION, GRACE & MERCIES new each day!

18. WATER: Bottled water here because when I open the spigot of my faucets in the bathroom or kitchen and see brown running water, it's clear I need a filter or bottled water for more than drinking. Back home in MN, fresh, cold, pure. clean well water flows out of every faucet & is drinkable. Much like the LIVING WATER that comes from reading the Word of God daily that flows from your mouth & bursts forth from His Spirit. Viewing Water: I love to gaze out upon the Pacific Ocean or Sea of Cortez & marvel at God's reflection~it brings such peace and calm.

I missed the truck that comes by selling & delivering the bottled water on Monday and I was here, so that makes WATER a real necessity and I appreciate water more here than I ever did when I lived in USA. When I viewed that video in my WINTER post, I knew what a treasure WATER is & why!!!

17. Lakewood Community Church in Houston, Texas & their Worship leaders being on line on Saturday night & then the Spanish Speaking Service on Sunday with Marcos Witt especially

16. BEAUTIFUL WALKS: My walk with You, my walks with my dogs...my walks along the Malecon, my walks along the beach, even my walks for exercise

Though this might just be the ending of the life I held so dear but I won't run, there's no turning back from here Stand my ground, I won't give in No more denying, I gotta face it Won't close my eyes and hide the truth inside If I don't make it, someone else will Stand My Ground All I know for sure is I'm trying I will always stand my ground Stand my ground, I won't give in (I won't give in) I won't give up (I won't give up) no more denying, I got to face it won't close my eyes and hide the truth inside if I don't make it, someone else will Stand my ground, I won't give in No more denying, I gotta face it Won't close my eyes and hide the truth inside If I don't make it, someone else will Stand My Ground. BECAUSE JESUS CHRIST STOOD HIS GROUND SO WILL I...and...I WILL CHOOSE TO BELIEVE & DEFEND HIS NAME FOREVER as HE LEADS ME to a higher calling. THANK YOU, LORD JESUS...Thank You for helping me run the race set before me. May I keep my eyes on You and the Finish Line. Keep me from temptation, harm & evil that is all around us. Part 3
This is when the story becomes very much like the story of Jesus, because Aslan is the most powerful one in Narnia. Aslan is the SON of the Emperor-beyond-the-Sea.
JESUS is the SON of GOD!
Aslan allowed the Witch to kill him instead of Edmund because the PROMISE of the “Deeper Magic” in Narnia says, “When a willing victim, who has committed no treachery, is killed in a traitor’s stead, the table would crack and death itself would start working backwards.”
When Jesus grew up, He did something amazing. He stopped the law of sacrifice by becoming the sacrifice Himself. Jesus was killed on a cross; and when His blood was shed for our sin, God forgave all of us for all of our sins. The PROMISE in the Bible that tells us why Jesus came says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him will not die but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
Aslan GAVE HIS LIFE to pay the price for Edmund’s crime. Aslan’s SACRIFICE set Edmund FREE!
Jesus GAVE HIS LIFE to pay the price for mankind’s sins. Jesus’ SACRIFICE sets all who believe in Him FREE!
After Aslan was killed, Lucy and Susan were very sad. Then they noticed the mice chewing through the ropes that held Aslan down on the Stone Table. They were both shocked that when the Stone Table broke, Aslan came ALIVE AGAIN, Lucy and Susan rejoiced at his RESURRECTION.
Remember, Jesus was the human form of God and God is more powerful than you can imagine. Jesus’ body was put in a tomb, and the tomb was covered with a big stone. When the stone rolled away, Jesus came ALIVE AGAIN, three women rejoiced at His RESURRECTION.
Edmund and Aslan went for a walk and talked. To be FORGIVEN, Edmund had to tell Aslan he was SORRY for his crime. He let Aslan be the KING of his life.
Now people don’t have to sacrifice their animals anymore to be forgiven and go to Heaven. To be FORGIVEN, people have to tell Jesus they are SORRY for their sins. They have to let Jesus be the KING of their lives.
Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
After Aslan came to life again he gave Lucy and Susan a ride to the White Witch’s castle so he could rescue the good creatures. Aslan gives NEW LIFE to the stone statues by breathing on them. They join Aslan’s GOOD ARMY to fight against the EVIL in Narnia.
Jesus gives NEW LIFE to all those who believe in Him. They join the Church, which is God’s GOOD ARMY, to fight against EVIL in the world.
The FOLLOWERS OF ASLAN were given special GIFTS to fight against the evil White Witch: Susan’s Horn, Lucy’s Healing Liquid and Peter’s Sword and Shield.
The FOLLOWERS of GOD, first are given the gift of SALVATION and when we receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, we are filled with more special GIFTS to be used to glorify God in the body of believers. Each of us are given special gifts but under the Holy Spirit, they are anointed.
The devil hates all those who believe in Jesus, and now we fight a war against evil. The FOLLOWERS OF GOD are given *“The Armor of God” to fight against the d(evil):
The Sword of the Spirit
The Belt of Truth
Helmet of Salvation
Gospel Shoes
Breastplate of Right Living
Shield of Faith
During the last great battle, Aslan DESTROYS the White Witch and EVIL IS ENDED in Narnia.
Sometimes you may think the devil is winning the war, but he is not. The Bible tells us that at the end of time, Jesus DESTROYS the devil and EVIL IS ENDED in the real world.
After the battle, Aslan REWARDED the children and CROWNED them Kings and Queens in Narnia. Now it was up to King Peter, Queen Susan, King Edmund, and Queen Lucy to stand up for good in the name of Aslan and be sure that evil ideas never came into Narnia.
The devil will try to tempt you to disobey God and do evil things, but don’t give in to temptation. We are in God’s army; our job is to make choices that please God and fight against evil in this world. Remember, God REWARDS His children and gives us CROWNS to wear in Heaven.
Aslan came TO LIFE again.
just as...
Jesus came TO LIFE again.
The power of Aslan cracked the stone table and he came back to life. Remember, Aslan is not a tame lion, so the White Witch can never be more powerful.
The power of Jesus also rolled away the heavy stone over His tomb, and Jesus came back to life. Remember, Jesus is really God in a human body, and nothing you can ever imagine is more powerful than God.
When the stone rolled away, Jesus came ALIVE AGAIN, Three women rejoiced at His RESURRECTION!
Romans 14:9 For to this end Christ died and lived again, so that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living.
Aslan gave NEW LIFE to the stone statues.
just as...
Jesus gives NEW LIFE to those who BELIEVE in Him.
When Aslan breathed on the stone statues in the White Witch’s courtyard, they came back to life. They used to be dead, but Aslan gave them new life; then they joined Aslan’s army that fights for good.
The same thing happens when we ask Jesus to save us from our sins. We go from being dead as sinners to having new life as followers of Jesus. We join Jesus’ Church, and become warriors in His good army that fights against evil in this world.
Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Aslan DESTROYED the White Witch and ENDED EVIL.
just as...
Jesus will DESTROY the Devil and END EVIL.
Aslan was the mightiest of all warriors, and he jumped right on top of the White Witch during the last battle and killed her. When he did that, her army scattered and the time of evil in the land of Narnia was over.
Jesus is also the mightiest warrior in the Army of God. The Bible tells us that sometime in the future, Jesus will lead the battle against the evil forces in our real world. He will destroy the Devil once and for all. When you get scared at all the evil things you see happening in this world, remember that one day Jesus will destroy the devil and evil will be gone.
1 John 3:8 "Everyone who commits sin is a child of the devil; for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil."
Revelations 20:7-10 "When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God's people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them.10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever."
Aslan REWARDED the children and CROWNED them Kings and Queens in Narnia.
just as...
Jesus REWARDS Christians with CROWNS to wear in Heaven.
Aslan turned four brave children into King Peter, King Edmund, Queen Susan, and Queen Lucy. They ruled Narnia as the champions for good, and they kept evil forces out of Narnia.
Jesus promises us that one day we will be given crowns of reward to wear in Heaven for being champions of good and fighting against the evil forces in our world. We must always be careful to make the same kinds of choices that Kings and Queens in Narnia would make. God is counting on us to behave like royalty while we are here in our REAL world.
1 Peter 5:4 ...when the Chief Shepherd (Jesus) appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away
"... cast their crowns before the tBoldhrone, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." Revelation 4:10-11
At ASK ME Help Desk, Bobbye wrote that no crown is given for SALVATION for it is a gift of God but there are 5 different Crowns or Rewards given: Crown of Life (Martyr's Crown)(Rev. 2:10)(James 1:12), Crown of Glory (Shepherd's Crown) (1 Peter 5:2-4), Crown of Rejoicing or "Soul Winner's" (1 Thes.2:19) Crown Crown of Righteousness (2 Tim. 4:8)
"Those who "love His appearing" will be getting ready along the journey of life in order to qualify for this Crown. The Blood of Jesus saves, yet how we live in accordance with God's Holiness will determine if we receive this Crown."
and the Incorruptible Crown or Victor's Crown for those who keep their body incorruptible
"I Corinthians 9:25-27 "And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we, an "incorruptible." ."
*Ephesians 6:13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.
Much more application is available as you move into PRINCE CASPIAN. Lewis himself remarked that a main theme of the Chronicles is a "return to the true faith". This can be used as an incredible opportunity to enhance your ministry and share Jesus with others. There is much correlation with battling and spiritual warfare. Reminding us "to fight the good fight" and keep on believing in the GREAT cause...souls & lives changed for eternity.
So once more,
Four children enter Narnia, and each one of them learns what it means to fight against evil and take a stand for what is good. If “God” is inside of “good,” and “evil” is inside of the “devil,” what’s inside of you? Do you know the difference between good and evil? Are you the kind of person who fights against evil? Do you stand for what is good?
THE ONE WHO WE CELEBRATE EACH YEAR...DO YOU KNOW THAT it is HE~ JESUS CHRIST, WHO IS THE REAL REASON for THIS SEASON. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HIM or PERHAPS HAVE FORGOTTEN HIS IMPORTANCE in the rush of commercialization of BLACK FRIDAY & the economic crisis...HE STILL is the KING, OUR MESSIAH, WAITING to SAVE us FROM EVIL and  DELIVER US from EVIL...if you click on the question underlined above you will be linked to one of many places that can lead you through steps to know God's peace, perspective, and purpose for your life begining with a personal relationship with Christ.
It's HIS FREE GIFT to you and the guarantee is for ETERNITY. It's the BEST GIFT you can acquire for this CHRISTMAS and GIVE IT AWAY freely to others.
SIDE NOTE: I've read much controversy about whether or not "The Chronicles of Narnia" has Christian connections because of many creatures of myths, pagan religious ideas, occult, deception, etc. For me, anytime a book is written that makes us think or reveals something about God or we reflect on how God could be speaking to us with some ideas, it is worth sharing those ideas rather than debating and getting up in arms against the literary work. We need to address these issues also and be aware of them. But please do not debate this here. My intention is to look for the GOOD and encourage people to SHARE JESUS with OTHERS! With what I've shared, it's clear to me that some Christian applications can be made between the make-believe world of Narnia and our REAL world and what we know as Truth in God's Word. There are many more points that can be drawn and made from my perspective in spiritual lessons available in through this series.

Part 2
Here's what I believe:
C.S. Lewis battled with his own unbelief, since he came from not believing in God at all as an atheist. His writing of the Chronicles of Narnia was a very creative endeavor as he wondered if maybe people were getting too "used to hearing the story of Jesus," and he wanted everyone to know what Jesus did for us when He died for our sins on the cross and they were forgetting to have real feelings about how much Jesus loved us to die for us.

So, he decided to “wake up” our feelings about how amazing it was for God to come to earth in human form as Jesus, and then allow simple little humans to kill Him on a cross. When you read the story of the White Witch and her slimy, evil creatures shaving the mane off the mighty Aslan and tying him to a stone table, you get a horrible feeling inside. You wonder how Aslan could love Edmund that much to willingly let himself be killed.
C. S. Lewis wanted you to be horrified at the death of Aslan so you would feel the same way about the death of Jesus. He wanted you to be amazed at how much Aslan loved Edmund so you would be amazed at how much God loves you. This is why he made up the story of Narnia. It is really the Christian story, but it is set in a make-believe world on the other side of a wardrobe. Are you ready to listen to “The Real Christian Story” that C.S. Lewis was really telling when he wrote "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe".

The COST of Edmund’s SIN was DEATH.
just as...
The COST of our SIN is DEATH.

The White Witch TEMPTED Edmund to do EVIL with Turkish Delight because it looked good, tasted good, and promised power as King. But poor Edmund was SAD because the EVIL PROMISES of the White Witch were a lie. When Edmund came to the castle of the White Witch, she did not give him more Turkish Delight; instead, she gave him stale bread and water.

Remember the “Deep Magic From the Dawn of Time” that the White Witch used which was her reason for wanting to kill Edmund? She said, “Every traitor belongs to me as my lawful prey, and for every treachery, I have the right to a kill.” A “treachery” is a crime or a sin. Edmund had lied and he was willing to turn his brother and sisters over to the White Witch. Edmund was a sinner, and the cost of sin in Narnia is death!
Sin has the same price in our real world, only the kind of death that God talks about in the Bible happens after you die. That sounds odd, doesn’t it? I read that SIN is not TEMPTATION, nor are they just MISTAKES but they are conscious decisions and choices, willful REJECTION of LIGHT... I recently read in an article on "how to write your own testimony ~ story of God's changes in your heart & life... when writing or telling it: avoid the word "sin" and instead use:
• rejecting God
• missing the mark
• falling away from the right path
• a crime against God's law
• disobedience to God

But to me, "sin" is "SIN". However the term may not be understood by all so you must try not to use "church words" and "terms" that an unchurched person cannot understand. Think about this when you want to ask someone if they want to receive "salvation" or pray the "sinner's prayer".

Many of us have the wrong concept of "sin" from different teachings we've heard. But now that we can read God's Word, we can see what Jesus taught as we examine the scriptures.
In John 15:24 Jesus taught that sin consists in doing wrong when we know better.

The topic of sin is not a popular one today. Many view the concept of sin as archaic and demeaning -- something that needs to be cast aside in light of current " modern thought". Christians however know that there are some things taught in God's word which will never become outdated. Sin is one such topic that is as relevant today as two thousand years ago.
There are clear consequences of sin:
1). The penalty of sin which describes the very real moral debt that every person now carries as a result of sin; When speaking of the penalty of sin three words need to be considered: death, separation, and condemnation.

2). the power of sin which describes the enslaving and corrupting power that sinful thoughts, attitudes and actions can produce in the human heart;

3). the pain of sin which describes the misery and heartache that results in the lives of those trapped by the enslaving and corrupting power of sin. The reader can easily see the reality of the second two points in the world today. However the reality of the moral debt of sin is something which can only be fully understood on the basis of the truth of scripture.

Did you know that you will live forever, even after your body dies? Some people will live forever in Heaven with God, but "sinners" will not get to go to Heaven; instead, they will sink down to an awful place and spend forever with the devil, seperated from God for eternity.

In the Witch’s courtyard, Edmund saw that creatures who are under the evil spell of the White Witch are HOPELESS because it is “always winter and never Christmas.” They are STATUES who only look alive but who are REALLY DEAD! Just as in the REAL world when we have hearts of stone, or refuse to change, continue in "sin", we are dead and hopeless!

Edmund was SORRY for his sin and FOLLOWED Aslan.
just as...
We should be SORRY for our sin and FOLLOW Jesus.
Edmund knew he had done a very bad thing, and he told everyone that he was very sorry. When you are sorry for your sin and you promise never to do it again, you are repenting, meaning that you’re turning your behavior around. Edmund repented from being a sinner and ended up following Aslan’s instructions for the rest of his life. He even became a mighty warrior and knocked the evil White Witch’s magic wand right out of her hand so she couldn’t turn any more of Aslan’s army into stone statues.

Jesus wants us to repent from our sin, too. He wants us to turn our behavior around and never again let the devil tempt us to do evil. Jesus wants us to follow His instructions for the rest of our lives and join His Church, because the Church is God’s army to fight against evil in the real world.

The Witch wanted to kill Edmund, but Aslan’s army saved him. The angry Witch told Aslan that she had the right to kill Edmund anyway because The COST of SIN is DEATH according to the “Deep Magic,” that the White Witch quoted when she said, “...every traitor belongs to me as my lawful prey, and for every treachery, I have the right to a kill.”

Aslan DIED to PAY for Edmund’s sin.
just as...
Jesus DIED to PAY for our sin.
We just talked about the “Deep Magic From the Dawn of Time” that the White Witch used as her reason for wanting to kill Edmund, but Aslan knew something that the White Witch did not know. He knew about the “Deeper Magic From Before the Dawn of Time,” which says: “When a willing victim, who has committed no treachery, is killed in a traitor’s stead, the table will break and death will start working backwards.” That means that when an innocent victim takes the punishment for the sinner, then instead of death being the result, forgiveness and new life will happen. That’s why Aslan, who was innocent, took the punishment for Edmund, who was the sinner.

That is exactly what Jesus did for us. When we sin, our punishment should be death or not going to Heaven after we die. But instead of us being punished for our own sins, Jesus let Himself be punished. Remember, Jesus was God in a human body, so really God took the punishment for our sins. That’s how much God loves us and wants us to live with Him forever in Heaven after our bodies die here on earth. That’s the real truth that C.S. Lewis put into the story of Aslan in Narnia.

By now, I'm sure you see the similarities much closer and know where I'm headed. This is a new approach to explaining the salvation story & taking something that anyone might have seen in the theater or coming out in USA on DVD ... December 2nd ..."Prince Caspian" and explaining at this point the similarities when the story becomes very much like the story of Jesus, because Aslan is the most powerful one in Narnia and Jesus is the ONLY ONE with this power in our REAL WORLD! You can open their eyes to a NEW BIRTH & FAITH through the EYES of A CHILD ... through the make-believe world of Narnia to our REAL WORLD & WALK with the KING of KINGS, and LORD of LORDS ...JESUS CHRIST... born in a manger and we celebrate at a time known as CHRISTMAS...they can continue in their HOPELESS NESS of "always winter never Christmas" or they can leave behind their past, their unbelief, their life with NO HOPE, their despair and desperation, and OPEN their hardness of heart, a heart of stone ... broken and spilled out ... to be put together and formed by the MAKER of THAT HEART who is WAITING for them to experience HIS LOVE and draw into HIS TRUTH, WAY & LIFE as HE LIGHTS their way to an ETERNAL LIFE. Drawing them out of the darkness and evil and restoring their brokenness in the LIGHT of HIS MERCY & HIS GRACE! Let's give a shout of PRAISE!
