"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

In the very inspiring Lent Devotional that I mentioned from Michelle DeRusha, we started with reading Jeremiah after Psalm 137. So, in my "New Women's Devotional Bible", when I began reading, I encountered this devotion shared there for this portion of scripture and I chose to make a point to add it here for you, too, because it fits well with my theme of LIGHT and God impressed upon me that someone may need this encouragement to look beyond this "time" in their journey:

God Owns Time
Read: Jeremiah 29:4–14

"It’s so hard to look beyond our circumstances.  For the Jews in the time of Jeremiah, it seemed impossible. The Babylonians had whisked them from their homes and settled them in enemy territory. Into this depressing scene, God sent Jeremiah, the anguished prophet of judgment. But his message this time was one of hope. In essence, he said, “Though your circumstances look bleak, your confinement will be limited. So settle in and make a home away from home for yourselves. As incredible as it sounds, look for and enjoy the moments of joy, even in this place. It won’t be long before the worst will be over.”

Today endless darkness may seem to surround you, just as the Israelites experienced. Maybe it is hard to remember the last time you felt free or comfortable. You’ve watched your business struggle, your friend fight disease or a child disown you. And you may have lived in this place for such a long time that you consider it a second home.

Whether or not the darkness is of your own making, and whether or not you can see its end, remember this: God owns time. Though He rarely shares His reasons with us, He knows why He allows the pain to continue. And He also knows the date—the day, the hour and the precise minute—when the agony will end. Not only that, but He also knows what He has in store for us when it’s over.

Through Jeremiah, God invited the exiles to look to Him, to call to Him. God promises that when we search for Him with every ounce of our energy, we will find Him. In His time, He will bring us back from the dark and hostile places. As difficult as it is to imagine now, this is true: God has plans for us. And because He’s God, His plans are always good.

~ New Women's Devotional Bible ~

[source:Christian Wallpapers]

“I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back from captivity.”
Jeremiah 29:11-14

1. When was a time you felt surrounded by darkness?
2. How can knowing that God owns time give you perspective on a difficult situation?

If you’re in a tough place right now, spend some time crying out to God. Ask Him for renewed hope, for the strength to lean on Him and for the wisdom to know what to ask for.

Bible Gateway's
Women in the Bible

(maybe not a woman of great worth)
Yet we can learn from her hate and wickedness

Clues for next week's Woman:
  • the NT woman who wore the badge of kindness
  • a 'saintly' sister
  • a servant of the church
  • a succourer of many
  • a devoted, and it would seem particularly a brave friend of converts in trouble, and of Paul himself
  • a witness to what Christ can accomplish through consecrated spinsterhood. (Bible Gateway's words, not mine)
  • one of the first, if not the first, of the noble band of deaconesses in the Christian Church

My week in review:

In my first Week of "40 Day Soul Fast", I read about "The Power of 40: Enlarging Your Capacity". I think in my 40's, I thought I was more filled with His Power and I know my capacity was enlarged (in more ways than one). But here in my 50's, coming out of the darkness that surrounded my life in my past and reflecting through my life's journey, keeping my eye on the Light of God that has led me to this current season as I try to make sense of it all ...

"Confident Heart" by Renee Swope has really been an eye opener, like I'm reading my own life in her words and finally making sense out of much of it, with Renee's excellent words of wisdom and transparency. This is a book, you should not miss reading.

Add to this my 'Soul Fast' week one of Transforming, Cleansing, Aligning, Preparing and Loosing(days 1-5) as I arm myself with these characteristics to empower me to live more authentically: Awareness, Godliness, Truth, Commitment and Patience...

WOW! It's been one power packed week. And I'm in the midst of being "empowered" today's portion from my Current week 2 (days 6-10) "The Purpose of a Soul Fast: The Self Leadership Challenge" where my focus will be

Day Six: Connecting - Characteristic 6: Capacity
Day Seven: Healing - Characteristic 7: Wholeness
Day Eight: Empowering - Characteristic 8: Balance
Day Nine: Directing - Characteristic 9: Peace
Day Ten: Seeing - Characteristic 10: Goodness

So thankful for public cybers with printers, my notebooks and good health (well, better health, except for sinking knee deep, in a newly planted "mango tree" hole that's replacing the large dead tree that fell in front of my house, and loosing my right foot's flip flop until I was able to dig deep down to retrieve it after many tries ... I even took a photo to show you sometime). Life is so full of wonder and laughable "Candid Camera" moments (but definitely not at the time you're sinking or in them). I definitely have sensed your prayers and I'm mostly thankful for YOU and your continual encouragement

Praying, believing and thinking of you daily,

tells me that
I AM ...
A. Accepted in the Beloved
B. Blessed with all the spiritual blessings
C. Chosen in Him before the world's foundation
D. Delivered from the powers of darkness
E. Elevated to a heavenly position.

elevated=raised up
And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus..

The Love of God

finishing this month with
Love you all and praying specifically for you,

An update since I posted this appropriate verse, little did I know-my dear Uncle John, my dad's youngest brother and the last of his family living, was "ELEVATED" and seated with Christ in heavenly places... he peacefully died in his sleep Sun. eve. I ask that you join me and say a prayer for my cousins (his children and their families) that Abba, Father will send the Holy Comforter to meet each one, peace to ease their hearts and mind, and the saving grace of knowing Jesus Christ as their personal Savior so that they will be reunited one day with their mother and father for eternity and all of our family would be saved in Christ Jesus. May Our Lord embrace them as they grieve their loss and give them a garment of praise for their spirit of heaviness. May we rejoice in the homecoming of my dad's youngest brother and that they are now in the Presence of Our Almighty Lord, thanks be to God and His gift of eternal life. May words of Life be spoken over each family member. May my Uncle John rest in peace! Although I can't be with my cousins, family and friends of my Uncle John to bid him farewell, I send my deepest sympathies and much love, peace and comfort as they assemble, remember him and lay his earthly body to rest for his spirit has now gone on ahead as my prayers will go with each of them in hopes that we will soon be reunited in heaven. May "God raise us all up with Him and seat us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages He might show the immeasurable riches of His grace in kindness toward us... "
In Christ Jesus
Hallelujah, Jesus defeated death,
He rose and is seated on His throne
so because of Him,
we can live eternally... Glory!
May His perpetual Light
shine upon us!

Yes, I do realize it's the end of February even though I still have my Magi with the "Star of Bethlehem" background (but I really do have a reason for my 'blue' and Magi too) I do MISS you!!! and I probably still have my Christmas countdown dropping snowflakes, tho' I'm really not counting them but the many blessings each one brings of purity and individuality to my days like a drop of JOY and LIGHT from heaven. As I'm hoping to shine the Light of Jesus brighter in 2012 just like the Star of Bethlehem to lead others to Jesus ...(since my WORD for 2012 is LIGHT)  I may be leaving this as it is all year without changes (so regretfully you may have to just get use to it as it is) because as you know each SOS I will be continuing to focus on LIGHT through the paintings of Thomas Kinkade, known as the Painter of Light ... my way of sharing his creative LIGHT in paintings and God's LIGHT in His Word.

[I suggest you click play and continue reading unless you'd like to sing along]

Since I heard the PA groundhog saw his shadow on Feb.2, some of you have 6 more weeks of winter (almost over by now) so I thought I'd close this month with a collage I made with some of Mr. Kinkade's winter scene paintings before I begin the next section from "Passages of Light", the Light of Life. I can't say I miss the cold of winter, but I do miss the beauty of fresh fallen snow... although I've heard this winter was mild. I do pray you are all warm and well.

With the end of winter approaching, new life will soon be springing up...  Delight in these 7 winter scenes which show God's Light reflected off the snow rather than the dismal, dreary, cold days, try focusing on the beauty of this season and what's to COME... Let Jesus' LIGHT warm your heart and shine brightly on you as you grow closer to Him

The Light of Snow
is what I call this collage

Titles of Thomas Kinkade's paintings (top left across...) 1) Glory of Winter  2)  Olympic Mountain Evening  3) Evening Glow (center right) 4) Christmas Evening (bottom left across) 5) Winter Light  6) Winter's End  7) Deer Creek Cottage (I had to come and add these because the cyber's not open on Sun., I'll catch y'all later this week)

Which one is your favorite scene?
Can you guess mine?

Isaiah 55:10
"As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater..."

I pray that whatever burden(s) you are carrying this day or season in your life, that Our Lord will make them LIGHT as you call on Him to Light your way,He'll lighten the load if you would just lay it down and give it to Him; He's carried so much more, won't you trust Him with this?

scene, song or scripture
(or any combination)
 just keep it simple!

(mine is the bottom right corner scene, in case you didn't guess)

Every Friday I FOCUS my FAITH with claiming a Promise from 365 promises and PRAYing with others FEARLESSLY for the needs of others. There is nothing better than a day filled by His Holy Spirit, praying, interceding and building our faith through God's Word as we claim His Promises to us. Which Promise of God do you choose this week?
2 Corinthians 3:17;1 John 4:16Psalm 9:10Psalm 68:61 John 5:14Hebrews 11:61 Thessalonians 5:23-24

Heavenly Father,

I do seek You with all my heart. May my heart be a heart of faith. May my faith increase each day. Help me to be diligent in seeking You. Thank You for rewarding those who seek You. Your reward is icing on the cake.

Thank You for the excellent study that Wendy Blight and her participants did on all of Hebrews. For this reason, this verse stands out to me and has become much more meaningful.

I want to please You Father but You know I've had a hard time with being a people pleaser but I choose to seek and please You alone. Keep me from striving to please others or being concerned with pleasing them, let me please You first in whatever I do or say. I know that without faith it is impossible to please You. I believe in You and I believe You, both are important to me. I know You exist and I completely believe in Your existence, help me to show others that You are alive and love them as You love me. I love You so much! Thank You for loving me first even when I was but a sinner, You waited for me. May others fill that hole only with You and seek You to complete them in the precious Name of Jesus, I pray...

Outlive Your Life: You Were Made to Make A Difference
[This is not a book review]

(and so was I and I hope to do just that)
which also makes "God's Story My story" *bonus below

Max Lucado introduces Outlive Your Life

"These are difficult days in our world's history. 1.75 billion people are desperately poor, natural disasters are gouging entire nations, and economic uncertainty still reigns across the globe. But you and I have been given an opportunity to make a big difference. What if we did? What if we rocked the world with hope? Infiltrated all corners with God's love and life? We are created by a great God to do great works. He invites us to outlive our lives, not just in heaven, but here on earth. Let's live our lives in such a way that the world will be glad we did." ~ Max Lucado, "Out Live Your Life"

Spanish version

"O Lord, what an amazing opportunity You have spread out before me - a chance to make a difference for You in a desperately hurting world. Help me to see, to react in a way that honors You, and to bless others by serving them gladly with practical expressions of Your love. Help me to be Jesus' hands and feet, and through Your Spirit give me the strength and wisdom I need to fulfill Your plan for me in my own generation. In Jesus' name, I pray..." Max L. and me

Sometimes, we aren't able to read a book but viewing or listening to a video may work for us. By going to Max Lucado's Official site... you can read, watch or listen and even sign up to receive emails from Max Lucado (if you don't already) daily, weekly or weekday MP3... WOW!

* if you read my WOW post, this goes along with the middle part... yes, I realize that this is not one of Max's recent books, but it still is very vital to our Christian walk. It lines up real well with the last Max Lucado book that I had the opportunity to read and loved, "It's Not about Me"... (still wish I had done a study on this).

And yes, this was an extra post I forgot I had in here if you read my additional note yesterday.

Ohh and here's a BONUS... from a more RECENT book by Max

*WOW means that this is one packed post... of God's WORD, Worship, and Women of Worth, all on Weds., this one being Ash Weds. the beginning of 40 days to prepare our hearts to "live more fully in the Resurrection Life promised when Christ rose from the dead..." [*source]

"... to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes ..."
Isaiah 61:3 (a portion)

Elaine from Peace for the Journey
is sharing a special "lenten pause
reflection each Weds.
joined by her father, Chuck Killian
I guarantee
... it will be well worth your journey ...
join Elaine on this journey to the cross

Michelle DeRusha
from Graceful shares
a wonderful
Lenten Devotional
"Grace Changes Everything"
done with her church
(it certainly does, Michelle)

I have my own 40 day journey to focus on but hope I have the opportunity to read along with both of these also. God kinda mapped mine out for me... when my computer access became limited to public cyber occasionally, and He may want ALL of my attention as we press on ... we'll see what HE reveals...

How can I make this next 40 days (Lent) a time to hear the cry of the poor?(here... or anywhere and minister according to God's leading and calling) 40 Day Soul Fast... this is kinda like "inventory" time for me during these 40 days where I reflect about my mission in life;
What have I done for Christ?
What am I doing for Christ?
What should I do for Christ?
What is God asking of me today, this week, this year?

"Throughout the Bible, significant time periods have been marked by increments of forty. This is because the number forty represents transformation.

In today’s church calendar, the most significant forty day period marks the time of Lent. This special time of fasting leads up to our celebration of the most life-transforming event of all -- the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

As we prepare our hearts to celebrate all that Christ’s Resurrection means not only to us personally, but to all of humanity, it is only appropriate that we take time to declutter our souls from those things that keep us from walking daily in the fullness of that knowledge.

What is keeping you weighed down and burdened day by day? What are the things cluttering your mind and weighing on your heart?"Dr. Cindy Trimm

Woman of Worth

Woman of Worth
this week

Clues for the Woman of Worth for next week:
  • she is responsible for the murder of a preacher
  • her OT counterpart would be Jezebel
  • she is from the NT
  • she was more hellish than heroic
  • she married her own uncle
  • source of a King's sin and shame
In case you wondered why ashes are used on Ash Weds.?

Oh yeah, I'm shaking off those "ashes" but remembering from where I came and where this old body is going... but now my soul

I chose that WORD today from my Blog Bible verse of Isaiah 61, given to me by the Lord when I started blogging and each year, I see Him reveal more and more of this verse in me and my life journey, affirming and confirming so much. During these 40 days, I hope to see any ashes resurrected to new life in Christ, a new beauty, a beautiful crown of honor, yet we know that the ultimate crown belongs to Our King - to Him be all glory, honor and power - let us live in His power and strength; showing His love to others and not being ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone. I'm counting on this!

If you don't know this ministry, you should...
Pray for
many WOMEN of WORTH that
need to learn
Words from Me on this Weds.

* I have my basic posts set up through Resurrection SONday (Woo hoo)(Easter) unless God speaks something new to me, my posts will remain (first *2 days are optional or may alternate every other week) *M, *W, F (Faith Focus), and Sat (6pm) for SOS SONday.

Thank you for your sweet prayers and encouragements. I miss you, too. But I think there is no new computer on the horizon, so let's pray for the greater purpose and many greater concerns. Thank you. I'm sure God had a reason to allow this and it was not to separate us or make my life online more difficult, it goes much deeper. You are loved and prayed for consistently when God prompts your name or you send me any reminder of you ... that God meet you right at whatever your current need may be and those of your dear ones. ¡Vaya con Dios! (Go with God!) ¡Qué Dios te bendiga! (May God bless you!) always... Peggy

Today's "MORE On Monday", is not with Beth Moore as I often share here, but something much MORE...

One of many of hers on my Wish List,
I own one in Kindle for PC and love it,
just can't access it right now.
Freedom for His Princess: 30 Days to Refresh Your Soul
Her newest book release

Sheri will be leading an ALL new online Facebook study starting Monday, March 5. It's more than Love Letters...Freedom for His Princess includes personal stories, Life Coaching, prayers, and more.

I still don't have Facebook, but I know many of you do... so why not consider joining Sheri(MinistryPage on Facebook) or share with others. REFRESHING MY SOUL sounds just what I need as I continue in Renee Swope's "A Confident Heart" ... this comment that Sheri made on FB seems to fit so well:

"Your past can prepare you for your purpose, and nothing and no one can stop Gods plans for your life. Don’t allow disappointment to direct your path. Lets use our mistakes to make us wiser and our pain to make us passionate about devoting our lives to a purpose greater than our own personal happiness" ~ Sheri Rose Shepherd

Looks like a perfect 30 days for the 40 day Lent period
already started between Ash Weds. and Easter.

Let's Pray...
Dear God, What do I Need to draw closer to You,?
Dear God, What do I Need to be more like You?
Dear God, What do I Need to keep me from getting so comfortable that I forget to rely on You?

"The Victorian Garden"
by Thomas Kinkade

Psalm 119:130
The unfolding of your words gives light;
it gives understanding to the simple.

This is the "Victorian Garden" gate that I spoke about back when I started with the LIGHT of the WORD because it opens "Passages of Light" with this "gate" after a beautiful introduction by Thomas Kinkade and then this painting of just the gate like this, with the words "Light of the Word" with his explanation of how he paints the world with lights ... even though this "gate" is very close to the one in the book; the one that has caught my attention has colors that are very rich, warm and dark with this glimpse of a ray of light penetrating the dark with a beautiful glow on to this stone laid path, not the same brightness of light that is in this painting yet one that seems to unfold and light the path ... I wish my words could paint as vividly this gate because it has become one of my favorites so far of his works.

In the "Victorian Garden", the emphasis and beauty seem to be in the flowers in the garden, the light is on them... but in the opening painting for this section in the book of this gate but  much closer, the Light and clearly the focus, is the open GATE ... with the LIGHT cast just right on the path... an "unfolding of HIS WORD gives LIGHT" and so it does. But even more profound... "it gives understanding to the simple", which also comes by walking through the gate or spiritually speaking, the filling of the Holy Spirit in our lives to enlighten us in God's Word... to open Light to help us with our understanding as we read and by reading, we grow as these flowers in this garden, more beautiful and brilliant in His Light! Yes, Thomas Kinkade, there is Light in the Word and your beautiful paintings! I indeed have been so richly blessed by both

I truly believe that turning His Word into prayer is the best way to do this.

This Week's FAITH PROMISES are from #43-#49:

Psalm 61:3Isaiah 64:41 Corinthians 13:8Psalm 23:1John 10:29Psalm 147:3Matthew 5:4

[to check on all these promises, you can see them all here]

Just as a reminder to me,
I have chosen
Matthew 5:4
Promise #49
(though once again each day as I read the Promises, I thought "this is the one for me", then the mist drew me into realizing the profound truth I have found in this Promise and this Word).

I love the BE ATTITUDES anyways!

in times of mourning
for a spirit of heaviness
and take off

for our hope is in
not in ourselves
or in others

Now it's your turn to choose one of this week's Promises of God *from the above choices; share here in the comments or on your blog if you'd like to share more to keep you focused. Please add your link here in the comments.

Let us know which one you choose and if you have it on your blog - your link. Visit 365promises site for their daily devotion and these Promises of God with beautiful photography and encouragement!

Which Promise of God do you choose?

Psalm 61:3Isaiah 64:41 Corinthians 13:8Psalm 23:1John 10:29Psalm 147:3Matthew 5:4

Father, Whatever Promise we choose for this week, You are in each one. For You are Our Refuge, Our Rock, Our Strong Tower against all foes. Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides You, who acts on behalf of those who wait for You! And we shall wait and trust in You. Your love never fails. You are our Good Shepherd, we want for nothing. You provide and Your rod and Your staff give me comfort and guidance, knowing You are with me in everything.  And no one can snatch me out of Your hand. Great are You, O Most Holy and Loving Abba. We know and rely on Your love. You are love. You heal the broken hearted and bind up all our wounds and bring us Your Comfort! Thank You. You are greater than all and greatly to be praised and exalted for who and all You are! Hallelujah! Glory to You and all Praise to the precious name of Jesus now and forever.
