"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

WEEK 10 FRIDAY FOCUS: HUSBAND

RESOLUTION # 10

"I will be faithful to my husband and honor him in my conduct and conversation in order to bring glory to the name of the Lord. I will aspire to be a suitable partner for him to help him reach his God given potential."~Priscilla Shirer
"a resolution to be the kind of woman that truly blesses her man"

FULFILLING MY HUSBAND
by Priscilla Shirer
"Marriage Proposal"
"Hopes and Fears"
"Need a little peace and quiet?"

Reading: Pages 183-198

Memory Challenge:
Married women - memorize and study something new about your husband that you didn't know before and figure out how you can fulfill that need this week.

Single women - find a married woman you admire and ask her if she could share with you on thing she wishes she knew before she got married.
from Priscilla's blog: Going Beyond Ministry

MEMORY CHALLENGE

... something 'new' about my husband ... hmmmmm
(after knowing someone for over 40 yrs.)

I think I might be happy if he might allow me to fulfill any need within reason, but usually his needs are work-related, like when I was his teacher assistant or worked as a paraprofessional on his ESL and other HR projects. I just never quite seemed to fit the wife role and often saw his 1st wife as his only wife, although they were divorced and apart for years before I knew him. Right before I came to Mexico to stay, she had come to live at our house (due to financial reasons and being alone). I learned so much about my husband from her to apply to our relationship. As you can see, it did not work, because I am here and he is there, working on a conference for the fall. In our last phone conversation, in regards to whether I'd be making the trip home to MN again, but this time driving, he abruptly stopped our conversation with this: "I don't need you here." So, I guess that answers this. I know he expressed his appreciation that I came for his surgery after his truck rollover accident but that's where it ends. So, for now, I continue to wait on the Lord & him... and in being away, I am fulfilling a new need for him.

GOD IS NOT FINISHED WITH ME or US YET
{my spouse now has coined a new term for his beliefs,
rather than me saying he's an unbeliever, which was not entirely true,
he calls himself a "godian" (meaning he believes that God exists, and that's it)}

This now begins PART III of this book:

THIS IS WHAT MATTERS TO ME
{just to clarify, 'it' still matters to me}
That 'it' includes much

QUESTIONS
for

"Marriage Proposal"

"What are somethings you would say if you were counseling a young woman on the eve of her wedding day?"

"Would you say you have accepted the responsibilities marriage has required or resisted them?"

"List some of your husband's characteristics that you wish would change but likely will not. Now record the way YOU can change to adapt  to your husband's characteristics if these attributes are never altered."

"Before reading further, record some facets of your marriage you would like to see affected by this resolution. Use this as a guideline for prayer and a barometer for change in your relationship as you incorporate into your marriage the principles we will discuss."

"Single woman, as you read these chapters, take the opportunity to record your thoughts, questions and insights."

"Hopes and Fears"
Genesis 2:18

"What does your husband do or say that shows signs of these two fears (fear of inadequacy and fear of being controlled) in his life? After recording your answers, consider what you do to contribute to them, as well as what you could do to defuse them."

"How does soothing a husband's fears ultimately benefit the wife?"

"Proverbs 14:1 (NLT) What are some practical ways you can begin to "build your house"?

"If your friends were to describe your husband, based solely on your comments and conversations about him, what would their depiction be?"

"Need a little peace and quiet?"
1 Peter 3:1-5

"Begin this resolution by asking your husband what honor looks like to him. What causes him to be dishonored? You may be surprised by his answer. Creatively consider one thing you can do to be proactively kind. (If you're single, determine to meet with a married couple whose relationship you admire, and ask them what this looks like in their marriage. It's a wise single woman who takes the opportunity to learn these things now). So with a prayerful, honest, hopeful heart, sign this resolution into practice. Prepare  to live it for the good of your marriage and the glory of Christ."                                                                                         "
Now go back to the Resolution #10 above, read it and sign on...'
this is so God honoring as well

WEEKLY ONE WORD ~ HOPE

...…And rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:2

I was so delighted when God popped this in my email from Roy Lessin, "Meet Me in the Meadow" this past week ... starting with this one.

I live in HOPE!

"... I live in hope and I am happy in hope. I hope in what is true, in what is best, in what is everlasting. My hope is anchored in what a loving, caring God can be to His child.

You bring a hope to my heart that will not be dashed upon the rocks of broken covenants, unintended assurances, or misguided intentions. My hope is secure in the character of Your faithfulness. It will not be disappointed, but will see its final reward." ...

"Be full of hope: In Titus 2:13 we are reminded that as believers we are to live in hope. This hope isn’t based on what the world will do, on what the financial markets will do, or on what political leaders will do. Our hope is based on what God will do. Our hope is so great and so sure that the Scriptures call our hope the “blessed hope.” What is this blessed hope? It is the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ! Think of it, as a believer, you will see Jesus; not as your judge to condemn you, but as your Savior to receive you and bring you into His everlasting kingdom…so you shall forever be with the Lord!"~Roy Lessin

{recently finished the book of Titus with SRT-they are currently doing the book of Ruth. I don't participate with SRT as much anymore, via comments, because of lack of response that is discouraging to me and other reasons, but I still try reading along with whatever SRT is reading together online.}

Memory Verse: Micah 6:8

MEMORY VERSE

... Micah 6:8 ...

QUESTIONS
for

"Look Again"
Habakkuk 1:3

"What global or local devastation(s) are you currently seeing that stir compassion in your heart?"

"What has kept you from doing something to help?"

"What is one thing you can do and would be willing to make time to do?"

"How Do You Heal an Unbroken Heart"
Matthew 15:32
Matthew 14:14
Luke 7:13; John 6:35
Matthew 9:36

"Perhaps you've been burned when trying to reach out too drastically. People have taken advantage of you or misunderstood your motives. But when you go to minister Christ's love to another person, what is your real reason for going? What's a better way to evaluate your success than with measurable, feel-good results alone?"

"Hosanna" with Hillsong "... break my heart for what breaks Yours..."

"Mercy Me"
Ephesians 2:10
Micah 6:8
Micah 2:1-2

after this beautiful section on
justice
mercy
and
humility
(walking humbly)

Priscilla writes:

..." I think we have said enough, don't you? Now's your chance to act on it. To put in writing what God has been writing on your heart.
You may not know exactly who God will call you to serve or how He will supply the resources to meet their need, but you are resolving to be available. To keep your eyes and heart open - and full of justice, mercy and compassion."

HOPE "... ALONE"

"I AM NOT ALONE"
{the lyrics are Portuguese not Spanish}

When I walk through deep waters
I know that You will be with me
When I’m standing in the fire
I will not be overcome
Through the valley of the shadow
I will not fear

Chorus
I am not alone
I am not alone
You will go before me
You will never leave me

Verse 2
In the midst of deep sorrow
I see Your light is breaking through
The dark of night will not overtake me
I am pressing into You
Lord, You fight my every battle
And I will not fear

Bridge
You amaze me
Redeem me
You call me as Your own

Verse 3
You’re my strength
You’re my defender
You’re my refuge in the storm
Through these trials
You’ve always been faithful
You bring healing to my soul "

Just in case, you have been feeling alone and need to be reminded that Our Lord promises

"YOU ARE NOT ALONE"
{linked to GMG post entitled this from "You Are Loved" series}

Isaiah 43

HE IS GOD ALONE

May this song and Our dear sweet Lord
bring healing, strength, peace, comfort
to
YOU
to
your
weariness
to your
worries
to your
weaknesses
to the
waters
that
you are walking
through today, right now

HOPE

*in the battle

HOPE

*in the sorrow

HOPE

*in every tomorrow

HOPE
beyond
the darkness
into HIS
LIGHT

HOPE
knowing
that
YOU
are
NOT
ALONE

no more listening to those lies or the enemy

*BE SURE YOU TAKE NOTICE
that I did not say or use

I almost forgot that this is Father's Day (Dia de los padres) since I'm not in the USA or online that much, I've kinda lost touch with the "world" ... and because my own dad has not been this side of eternity for 15+ yrs. (the last loss in my personal family besides my last 2 aunts) ... Father's Day is just another day to celebrate Our Heavenly Father (so that's what I will be doing today, after a week with GMG's study of "You are Loved" focusing on "Knowing God"). I really want to know the Father better than I do and according to Scripture that happens through Jesus Christ (who I am so thankful I do know and have a wonderful relationship with Him that I have cultivated over the years, so now to become familiar and comfortable with the Father as "Abba", Papa ... which has slowly been taking place since the loss of my earthly father ... I say I believe and know the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, but it's taken years to go deeper in knowing the Father and the Holy Spirit, although they know me ever so well).

I know that this, similar to Mother's Day, can and is a bittersweet day for many, whose dads are not in their lives, no longer present in the world, or never were a good part of their life, so this makes this another day that is sad and difficult for many ... however celebrating and honoring the Father and the memories of a father or the ones around us that play that role, still needs to be done ... maybe by writing a letter to Him, attending a special event that "dad" might like ... watching a movie or eating something special that dad liked ... but acknowledging that Our Father God, is the Father who will never leave us and is always there and never fails us ... is the BEST way to honor "fathers" today because He is Father to the fatherless (Psalm 68:5) (however that has come to happen in your life) YOU ARE NOT ALONE and HE LOVES YOU!!! and so does your earthly dad, even if he might have failed to express it or show it or have the capacity to love as he should; perhaps he also never received the love of God, the Father and had no idea how to love, but you DO; so love your Father the best you can and show Him/him that you are thankful for love.

I found many articles on this "father's day without dad" but the most significant for me and my beliefs was "A Love Letter for the Father" with this acronym on FATHER and a beautiful letter (but you'll have to click over to CBN's site to read it):

For all things you've lead me through and taught me

And for promising me that you will never leave me

Through and through you've shown me the ropes

Helping me in anything and everything I face

Everyday you're there for me by simply calling your name

Rarely do I get to thank you enough.

So on this special day, I do exactly that.
Thank you for being my Father!"Aaron Bull, CBN Guest writer

And, of course,
my favorite love letter
from the
Father
(HIS WORD, the BIBLE)

{and the many that Sheri Rose Shepherd shares in her books, blogs, etc. from the Father}

but this one
{always shared at the bottom of "The Lighthouse of Prayer"}

Father's Love Letter

The two most memorable letters I have is the last one I received from my dad, one that he sent me to Mexico, a month before he passed from here to eternity and I received it on the day he departed (Sept. 13th, 1998) ...  and I wrote him back since I was unable to get in touch with him all day as I phoned and phoned ... then the one that he left for our entire family in his Bible! Letters I treasure and hold on to dearly as I do the words of this video that come from God's Word. I did an entire series of these here on my blog.

It's healing to write a letter ... it's healing to look at photos and recall good memories! The Father desires that we receive healing ... and forgiveness (give it and receive it) as His Child! Our HOPE is in this and we are not ALONE!

NOTE: I did try to make this a short SONday post, until I realized what day it was ... it's early, isn't it? or is it just me and how quickly this year is passing us by yet somehow standing still as I keep trying to restart 2014.

Oh well, may you find comfort and peace on this day in the Father's love! ... Peggy

Truthfully speaking my expectations have usually been very high
for myself and for others
The more I expect however lately in my life
the more disappointed I have become
which contributes to whenever
I feel hopeless or overwhelmed
I may not deserve more
but I often expect
more
from me
and
I raise that bar just a little bit higher
HOPING
that
I will get
more than I deserve
or
more than I can imagine
from
a
Father
that is so
willing to go
far beyond what
we ever expect or imagine

How about you?
are you afraid?
or
are you full with an expectant heart?
Have you reached your level of expectancy?

Well, REACH HIGHER
and
DREAM BIGGER

HOPE
beyond
your quotient level
Reach for the heavens
Grab hold of God
Grab hold of God's
HOPE
for
you
Grab hold of God's hand
and
be that hand to another
LOVE

Grab hold of God's strength,
... encouragement, comfort, peace, joy ...
and
be that
FAITH
that builds you up
and then others in turn
for the more you have
the more you are expected to give
right?

you can't very well give from an empty vessel

WEEK 8 FRIDAY FOCUS: MY INTEGRITY

RESOLUTION # 8

Week 8: My Integrity
Reading: Pages 145-158
Memory Verse: Psalm 101:2-3 a

QUESTIONS

"Structural Soundness"
Psalm 119:1

quote from John Wesley's mother

"Whatever weakens your reason, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of God, or takes off the relish of spiritual things-in short, whatever increases the strength and authority of your body over your mind-that thing is sin to you, however innocent it may be in itself... "

"In light of what John Wesley's mother wrote to him (above) what do you participate in now that

  • weakens your reason
  • impairs the tenderness of your conscience
  • obscures your sense of God
  • takes the relish off spiritual things"
"The 3 percent Difference"
Luke 21:34

"Is there an area of your life  that you'd be embarrassed or ashamed for others to find out about?

How would a deeper, more vulnerable, more comprehensive type of accountability be of use to you in maintaining a high level of integrity? What would that look like? and would you be willing to submit to it?

"From Strength to Strength"

" Resolving to be a woman of integrity is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. It means your free. No longer living in fear of a secret life being "discovered" or "found out. By signing and agreeing to this, you are agreeing to line up your whole self with the person God has rebirthed and transformed you to be. You're also opening yourself to become an influence and example that will draw others around you to Christlikeness. So come on in. The living's good in here. Much better than advertised."
