"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

"... Most unbelievers still confuse Christianity and "religion." (p.23)
One of the primary reasons God leaves us on earth after we receive the Savior is to demonstrate flesh-and-blood-proof that Jesus lives. We are set apart from dead religion because we have a living Redeemer. As living stones, do our lives expose an empty tomb and a living, thriving, personal God?"Beth Moore...

... "To really live we need passion for Jesus and purpose to serve Him.Beth Moore

And my KEY statement from this devotional

..."We represent HOPE to people who may have given up on finding real life. We are stones rolled away, giving them a glance into the empty tomb." Beth Moore

"How can you show proof of a living Savior to non-Christian friends and loved ones? Do you have a friend that needs to see Christ living and active in your life? Share what God is doing in your life and commit to be a living stone before ..."

* For more details about this, when I started sharing "Whispers of Hope" go back here and here. Often I share the teachings of Beth Moore from Life Today but I will do my best to not change course again but steady my course for Mondays to focus on "Whispers of HOPE" with MOM. Started with Day 1 here on April 28th, 2014.

July 29th (tomorrow) is the last day of "Children of the Day" with Beth Moore on LPM Blog, in case you missed my RECAP summary of "Children of the Day", it's all back here ... or in my own notebook. :0) I moved it forward every 2 weeks when Beth did her Vimeo and blog post

HOPE ... from the book of RUTH~4

Hope in Redemption

I realize that the 1st one of this series of sermons of HOPE from the book of RUTH, I shared an awful lot from the notes of Damascus Road Church and hopefully it was enough to whet your appetite and join me as well as to follow the link over to their site for more. All this is to guide or lead you further toward HOPE and connect you to their series rather than bits and pieces from me (highly unqualified yet enthusiastically hopeful in learning from other sources that I cite), which means I will be sharing less of theirs and maybe adding more of my personal reflection from what I gather from there throughout the week, now that I've shared the sermon link and all

"...God is a God of redemption who has the will and the power to redeem the bitter, the broken, and the outcast to fellowship with Him!..." Damascus Road Church

"Jesus is the prize. He is the one who fully restores us. He is our kinsmen redeemer who has redeemed and blessed us for the purpose of sharing hope and blessings to others. "

Near the end of these sermon notes, the section is "HOPE in Service" then "HOPE in the King to Come" ...

"...Throughout the book of Ruth, God reigns supreme. He takes care of Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz all while never forgetting His saving plan. Famines in Bethlehem and the death of Elimelich, Maylon, and Chilion all serve God’s plan to get to Israel’s king David. David is a king after God’s own heart but he’s not perfect and he’s not God. Israel needs hope in a better king than David. We read on in Matthew 1 to see His plan goes past David to the arrival of King Jesus who redeems on the cross, renews us by His resurrection, and gives us ultimate hope for restoration upon His return. We see so little of what happens, just one lifetime, so it’s nearly impossible to see/know what part our lives will play in God’s plans, but we do know His plans end with King Jesus seated on a throne and all of His redeemed people praising Him for His glory and their joy for all of eternity. ..." "Here are some very good definitions as to what hope really is in the Lord from some of the different Bible Dictionaries and Commentaries:

Reliance on God’s blessing and provision; the expectation of future good

Anticipation of a favorable outcome under God’s guidance

Expectation, something yearned for and anticipated eagerly

Something for which one waits, to wait for, to look hopefully

An expectation or belief in the fulfillment of something desired

Trustful expectation, particularly with reference to the fulfillment of God’s promises

Confidence that what God has done for us in the past guarantees our participation in what God will do in the future

I cannot stress enough how powerful of a thing hope really is if you are ever forced to take on a heavier type of storm cloud in this life "

"50 Days of Unleashing Hope"

WEEK 1 Recharge your batteries
WEEK 2 Raise your expectations
WEEK 3 Refocus on the future
WEEK 4 Play to your Strengths
WEEK 5 Refuse to Go it Alone
WEEK 6 Replace Burnout with Balance
WEEK 7 Play a Great Defense

{I reviewed the book first back here}

One of the blog post series I liked best was
"The Four Things that Only Hope Can Do"
some of the best quotes that start out Ray Johnston's Blog posts

... "Like almost nothing else, hope has a way of unleashing compassion. Hope helps people believe that they can make a difference, regardless of their circumstances."Ray Johnston

"Nobody ever gets a dream without hope. I know of many leaders around the world, some blessed with great resources and others who have almost nothing, who have made major impacts on their communities. They all have the one thing that nobody can do without - hope. Their hopes have sparked dreams, and those dreams have brought into existence some incredible initiatives. Every one of those initiatives started with hope."Pastor Ray Johnson

*my apologies, Bayside Church changed something so many of my links are NOT working for this in the blog posts, I've tried to fix some but have not gotten to all of them yet ... nor am I sure which ones and where ... so the best way is to connect with Bayside Church Messages HERE and choose the message for Unleashing Hope; (April-June 2014) and for the Daily Devotionals, you can check them out Here.

Week 7 (Play a Great Defense) starts with June 16th and goes to June 22nd. These are short 3-4 minute devotionals to REFUEL the concepts from Pastor Ray Johnston's book "The Hope Quotient" and his 50 day series on "Unleashing Hope"... plus there is his blog and the book's website. "

This is my actual score MEASURING my HOPE QUOTIENT from the Assessment from the book
I also have a score for each week of the key factors and how I fair (which was obviously average also) the highest total however is 140. Whoa! My lowest one was the last one "Running a Great Defense".

Not good, not bad; Not High nor low, just basically average
so, of course, I want to raise my

I'm not sharing this in pride (especially since it's so large, couldn't adjust that) it is what it is and
I'm not at all surprised that it leaves plenty of room for me to apply and increase my HOPE

How about you?

Do you need to raise yours?

Worship On Weds. (WOW)

"Walk in the Promise"
Jeremy Riddle, and Bethel Music

I first saw and heard this with Spanish subtitles and I wanted to share that one but it's not available to embed so I chose this one with English. As I listened over and over to this, the Spirit moved and deeply touched me (also the beautiful music and words). I hope that as you walk in His Promise, He will move in you and minister to you, right where you are, with just what you need and you can join and lift Him up as He falls afresh on you ... with HOPE in His wings (this is what I sense the most in this song) Hope in His Promises - Healing in His wings. Oh, how we need this, oh, how this world needs this HOPE

"Our souls wait in silence, in rest and in quiet for You, Spirit
In trust and dependence we walk in the promise of You, coming
With hope and healing in Your wings, with fire and with wind
You fall on us again

Our souls wait in silence, in rest and in quiet for You, Spirit
In trust and dependence we walk in the promise of You, coming
With hope and healing in Your wings, with fire and with wind
You fall on us again

Here we are waiting for this house to be shaken
For the boldness to carry Your name to the nations
Your signs and Your wonders to go now before us
For the weight of Your glory to rest as we lift You up
We lift You up, we lift You up, we lift You up

Woah woah woah... (We lift You up)

We lift You up ...
We lift You up, higher higher "
Deuteronomy 26:8

It'll be interesting to see what
365 Promises
shares for today

HOPE ... from the book of RUTH~3

Ruth 3:1-18
 Hope in Petition
I realize that the 1st one of this series of sermons of HOPE from the book of RUTH, I shared an awful lot from the notes of Damascus Road Church and hopefully it was enough to whet your appetite and join me as well as to follow the link over to their site for more. All this is to guide or lead you further toward HOPE and connect you to their series rather than bits and pieces from me (highly unqualified, yet enthusiastically hopeful in learning from other sources that I cite), which means I will be sharing less of theirs and maybe adding more of my personal reflection from what I gather from there throughout the week, now that I've shared the sermon link and all.

{these are the section headers we learn about in this one}
... HOPE and Risk ... HOPE and Petition
... HOPE in timing ...
... HOPE in love ...

I love this closing quote from DRC!
{which actually should be at the end of this post}

... "The love of God motivates us toward a love FOR God. And a love FOR God moves us to live radically, give generously, and love graciously." 2 Corinthians 5:14-15

"No Hope and Inaction

While a little hope is a powerful thing, someone without hope is often paralyzed. (emphasis mine)
At the end of chapter 2, Naomi was hopeless. She felt everything, including God, was against her. Her bitterness blinded her to the graces that were all around her, including Ruth and what we learn are several kinsman redeemers that live in the city. Her hopelessness led her to a depression that prevented her from dreaming, planning, or doing anything. After the death of her sons, while in Moab, she worked the fields. At the beginning of chapter two, it almost sounds like she can barely get out of bed to do anything beyond mustering enough energy to allow Ruth to go glean. Without a little hope you easily become a victim, and victims never see beyond the moment.
But without hope for the future, without a vision for what could be, without dreams, there is no action. There is only management of the day to day and a survivalist mentality that is unpleasant, uninspiring, and uneventful. All we need is a little light, a little dream, a little hope.
A Little Hope and Action
We can see what a little hope does to Naomi—it transforms her. She begins to make elaborate plans to get Ruth married. She again identifies Boaz as their relative, identifying his role as a Kinsman Redeemer. Built into the law of God is hope for those who lose everything. Basically, a blood relative known as a kinsman redeemer was to step in to rescue in certain situations (probably explained to Ruth): ... property, slavery, execution, restitution, lawsuit, young widow, old widow "(explained in the sermon with much more info)

HOPE: the book of RUTH
sermon series

 ... HOPE and Petition ...

Ruth declares: ..."I want your protection, your love, your life-long commitment. Her HOPE in Boaz is so great because Ruth realizes, without his redemption, she essentially has nothing."

This is what our HOPE in Jesus is supposed to look like. When know you have BIG NEED, you have BIG HOPE—that is all you have. But when you know the BIGNESS of the REDEEMER—you have BIG FAITH-FILLED petitions.

C.S. Lewis in his sermon entitled "The Weight of Glory" says: "If we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires not too strong but too weak. We are halfhearted creatures fooling about with drink and sex and ambition, when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mudpies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased."Sam Ford, Damascus Road Church

From the picture painted by this love story,
how does God relate to us? and
how should we relate to God?

"I fully resolve to make today's decisions with tomorrow's impact in mind. I will consider my current choices in light of those who will come after me."~Priscilla Shirer
"a resolution to live today with tomorrow in mind"

by Priscilla Shirer
"Choose Wisely"
"Unexpected Legacy"
"Set in Stone"

Reading: pages 247-259
Memory Verse: Joshua 4:6-7

from Priscilla's blog: Going Beyond Ministry
not sure if I will be doing a FINALE or summation
but I think Priscilla might have done one, see Week 14 above

{I'm surprised I stuck with this and sharing these this long after I gave up midway}
I guess mine is here below

"usually are made for a year to change a lifetime
for your lifetime to change each year"

I remember, like it was yesterday, when I restarted my year, for the second time,  with doing this book and these "RESOLUTIONS", (which as you know, I don't usually do, but instead allow God to give me ONE WORD). But these 13 are well worth making a part of a change in me as I look forward to the rest of this year 2014, with HOPE, a new HOPE of, maybe, just maybe, leaving a Godly legacy. THIS is my heart's desire that it might be said of me "well done, my good and faithful servant ..." and others may remember me with a legacy complete only in Jesus Christ, as My Lord!

But I am thinking that I should collect all of these in a personal book (all my blog posts on these resolutions) and seriously write on each resolution or the topic of each one. Almost as if, each of these, is an impetus (hope that's the right word) for further growth, transformation and lifetime vignettes that definitely may be a Godly Legacy, especially as I commit to resolve each one as God will lead, direct and guide me for what may uniquely fit me and my life (or lifestyle, now that I am not as young as Priscilla, I have more adjustments of what I did not do when I was as young as she is). I resolve to give it my best shot ... at being me authentically with a more Godly purpose and plan.

... Joshua 4:6-7 ...

"Choose Wisely"
Proverbs 13:22
Deut. 30:15-16, 19
Psalm 52:7

" How have you seen (or perhaps tasted for yourself) the long lasting fruit of personal choices on the lives of others? How have you been harmed by them? How have you been blessed by them?"

"What are some choices you already know about-ones that are coming up in the next few days, weeks, or months- that will provide you the opportunity to make an impact on your legacy? What can you do now, ahead of time, to ensure that you choose wisely?"

"List the people most important to you that you desire to leave a godly legacy."

"Unexpected Legacy"

"If this chapter speaks to your story, what does God seem to be specifically saying to you through it?"

"Who are some younger women that come to your mind who could benefit from a mentoring relationship with you?"

"If perhaps this chapter doesn't apply to you personally, how could you use its truths to both encourage and challenge the single, childless women in your life-to invest themselves in the responsibility of legacy building?"

"Set in Stone"
Joshua 4:2-7 (v.6)

Grand reflection!

"This final resolution is the climax of every other one we've made. The primary purpose of these resolutions has been to assist and support you in leaving a legacy you can be proud of. Ad we near the end of our journey, I ask you to use this last experience as the opportunity to tie together everything we've been learning and committing to along the way. These have not just been pledges to become a better person. This is about living a life that's bigger than yourself, one that can't be contained by the limits of a human lifetime. This is about responsibility and joy - the responsibility to invest heavily in others and the joy of watching God take our smallest gifts and turn them into eternal treasures. In whatever way He leads you to do this, He will supply you incredible grace and strength to accomplish it. As you make this resolution, realize you're making a truly lasting difference and that your commitment to these thirteen resolutions will make an impact for generations to come.

You - a woman of great resolve - are establishing a godly legacy!"
Priscilla Shirer

Well written summation Priscilla, thank you for this journey and the legacy you leave and guide us to do likewise.

Think about this: being entrusted with the gospel back then and now, for His honor and glory

To me, the titles that Beth Moore has given each day line up well with

1 Thessalonians: Chapter 2

(like each day is one paragraph;
 ex. Day 1: verses 1-6 (v.4 in particular);
Day 2: v.7-9 (end of v.8); Day 3: v. 10-12; Day 4: v.13-16; Day 5: v.17-20)
(Of course, if you have the actual workbook, you know exactly which section Beth is covering daily

This is me winging it, without the workbook like I said, I'd prefer to have the real book
(just not digital on their reader or Kindle
but one in my hands that I write in and highlight.

So, my advice is to SOAK with the SOAP method (GMG) for each of these days
THAT way; as I have broken them down for each day.

I have 3 more video clips to share from Beth Moore but I think that they are for later chapters, so I will wait. However, Beth Moore is not doing a "vimeo" until next Tuesday (she does that every other week). So if you were not able to watch the beginning one or the one that I shared here last week, check those out. If I find that she does a blog post on Tues. I will link that here.

I love to listen to AUDIO readings of the Bible, but have found that I am enjoying the one available through Saddleback Church, where Pastor Tom Holladay gives a little bit more of a 'sermon' along with it, with Drive Time Devotions: Week 1 and now Week 2 (I'll add the link to these each week also). *Week 3 ... Week 4 ... Week 5 ... Week 6 ... Week 7 ... Week 8  (actually week 6-8 is week 1-3 in 2nd Thessalonians)

Since I have no video, I thought I'd add a song... and of course, I was hoping that there would be a song "Children of Day" but instead I found a group called "Children of the Day" with a song that was familiar to me ...

Children of the Day

Third Day does have a song "Children of God" which is close to this idea

this week
whether you're reading along in
1 Thessalonians
May you hear God whisper His Word and His love to you!

{maybe I should have chosen
*this song}

OK, that's stretching it a bit (I know) but God fits this song for me
at least He did back THEN when I heard it originally
(If YOU CLICK OVER to "this song",  you'll get this better)
Just a little summer fun for me!
(if only it wasn't so hot, as you may know, I'm hibernating in my AC from the intense sun)
but I can escape some of the heat better than tornadoes and such disastrous weather up north in MN
