"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

...as you know the list is endless...

So I went back to a very long list I had done, so long ago it seems, on this blog

I return to
"The Heartbeat of God"

O God, You are Gracious and Compassionate!

"Gracious and Compassionate" from Chris Baxter
Great are the works of the Lord; they are studied by all who delight in them. Splendid and majestic is His work; and His righteousness endures forever. He has made His wonders to be remembered; The Lord is gracious and compassionate. Psalm 111:2-4

O God, You are Gracious and Compassionate! Thank You for this beautiful truth; my soul could not exist without Your grace and mercy. Your grace has saved me; Your compassion has embraced me, forever!
O God, Your loving kindnesses indeed never cease and Your compassion never fail. They are new every morning; great is Thy faithfulness. Thank You that You long to be gracious to us, and You therefore wait on high to have compassion on us. Again, God of love, thank You for this truth. I bow my soul humbly, yet I lift my head prayerfully-hear Your children: for Thy sake, O Lord, let Thy face shine on Thy desolate sanctuary. O my God, incline Thine ear and hear! Open Thine eyes and see our desolation and the city which is called by Thy name; for we are not presenting our supplications before Thee according to any merits of our own, but on account of Thy great compassion. O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and take action! For Thine own sake, O my God, do not delay; because Thy city and Thy people are called by Thy name. Thank You, O God, that You do hear, You do forgive and You do act! Yes, thank You for Your grace and compassion."
Lamentations 3:22-23, Isaiah 30:18, Daniel 9:17-19

"The HEARTBEAT of GOD" 1-9

I came across another You Version reading plan that I really like (but I'm not doing it yet except perhaps on Fridays): "The Heartbeat of God" by Chris Baxter. This kinda goes with the one I shared HERE on "Discovering God's Heart", don't you think? So I could not help but share this 30 day plan provided by Chris Baxter... I visited her "blog" site "Respite for the Weary" and really wanted to share her prayer for that day (since I believe God directed me there and it's meant for me, perhaps for you, too)

Exodus 14:14

..."O God, You are Supernatural. It is the eleventh hour, so I am asking for Your abundant grace and Your mighty power to intervene this very minute. ... " continue reading Chris Baxter's prayer over HERE

Acts 12:5-8; Acts 12:10; Is. 61:10; I Thess. 5:17; Is. 61:1

Chris Baxter's Book

Because I so appreciate what I read so far from Chris Baxter and so agree with what she wrote {click on the link under her book to read the part "To the Reader" and you'll be blessed more}... I hope to use Friday's once again, set aside as my day away with God (offline) ... for PRAYER: "O God, You are ..."

Who is "HE" to YOU today?

"...fill in the blank with one of His beautiful names or wonderful attributes..."

* this is so similar to my GRATEFUL 2/4 GOD (label) like this one (blog post ex.)

Please share your PRAYER completion in the comments

Hope you can read this (and sorry but I have no idea where it comes from or who to give credit, but it's not mine). I found it and tucked it away without the source. My apologies, if it's yours (let me know if you would like me to remove it). Meanwhile ...

When I started sharing "HOPE" as My One Word and Weekly One Word, I intended to simply go back to my original calendar plan of sharing a painting of Thomas Kinkade with a Biblical verse of "HOPE" (from this *2014 calendar) although I don't have the real calendar so I can't give the Bible verse as cited on it, but I do have each of the paintings set aside, ready to highlight (and already have done so with a few) on here still:

You need not point out that this calendar says "Garden of Grace" (I am aware of that) yet when I found it and being "aMazing Grace ..." is my blog, I just want to say "...that I still have hope"(as shared above in the first image) because of HIS aMAZING GRACE

God is still showing me (in my "garden walks" with Him) GOD's RICHES AT CHRIST'S EXPENSE and how immense this GRACE and His LOVE is, all because of the HOPE that comes each day through realizing all Jesus Christ is, was and forever will be to me and for me and through me to others, I hope ... the real reason that HOPE is ALIVE, and I still have it!

my favorite is not on this calendar
but the one I shared

{Hope Unto Grace}
(my other favorite)

May His Grace bring you Hope!
May Hope in God bring you to know His Grace!

Following Weeks

Also above in my
with more of an explanation

Father, You are the Light of the World, but more so my world ... my Light! Whenever anything that surrounds me seems "dark", You come and shine Your Light. Thank You that in Your Presence, I see the Light being reflected.

I am so thankful that You are close to the broken; broken hearted, broken pieces, broken relationships, broken bodies and minds, and even just "broke" or broken.
You know my pain, my hurt, my heartaches, every tear shed You catch in Your bottle (Ps. 56:8) and You wipe away my tears by Your Spirit and some day forever, when I am with You eternally. When I am "crushed", You carry me. When I am weak, I can rest and lean on You. In You, I find the strength to go on.
You are the Holy One of Israel, the Holy One of all, the Holy of the holies ... I humbly bow before such Majestic Presence. Because of Your Holiness, You turn Your back to sin, even to Your Son Jesus, when He took all the sin of the world on His back at the Cross. How can we stand before You? How can we ever thank You enough? There are no words or anything that compares to You and Your Word, the gift of Your Son ... the sacrifice made for me and my sin. I thank You as Your beloved child that You no longer see my sinfulness because Jesus' death made a way and You now see Jesus in me. I thank You that I now can boldly enter into Your beautiful Presence for You are my Crown of Glory ... for which I will press on to the victory won. I will continue to win the race with persistence for You are the wreath of victory at the finish line. Hallelujah!

Forgive me when my independent spirit gets in the way of Your work. I  need You LORD and I am dependent on You. Help me obey and exchange my agendas for Yours. Help me depend and run to You first in everything. I know I can do nothing by myself but in You, all things are possible. Thank You.

Thank You, Jesus of Nazareth, for showing me that those closest to me see my humanness and frailties the most so I must work on my character to be above reproach as You in Your hometown ... but You fulfilled every prophecy and surpassed every expectation. Thank You for making the ordinary extraordinary with Your touch, Lord.

You are my Everlasting Father and in this I take great delight! Thank You that I can run to Your open arms and You always have a home in Your heart for me, in this I can depend that You never change, You are always available, Your arms never tire and Your plans are always for good. Your relationship with me is guaranteed in Your Word to be secure. Thank You for accepting me and making me Your own
Beloved daughter,

oh and Heavenly Father, Thank You for our adopted son that was born this day and given to us as a precious gift, yet I gave Him right back to You, and give him this day back to You, His Heavenly Father. Though as earthly parents, we may fail, You never will. I pray as He celebrates his day of being born, that he would also remember that day when he was born again and given a new life as Your adopted son. I thank You for the man he has become but ask that You draw Him close to You and that You put someone in his path to remind him how much You and I love him, wanting the best for him and his ... I'd like him to return to a wonderful relationship with You in charge of every aspect. Let him know, speak to his heart and spirit, blessing him with a good father-child relationship that is both earthly and heavenly. Guide him and protect him each day in Jesus Name I pray ... pour Your abundant blessings, forgiveness, mercy, love and grace over him as we celebrate the life You give him ... Happy 35th Birthday V.! Much love and hugs!

I'm GRATEFUL to God

Day 2
for now follow this link to 2013
Focus: Branch

Lord, You are a towering branch that protects me from the sweltering heat of oppression. Hovering over me, You shelter me with the shade of Your Spirit each day. I have felt the refreshing breath of Your presence, and I am grateful for the sweetness of Your comfort. O Lord, how beautiful is Your name!"~Rebecca B. Jordan

[note: whenever the Day falls on Thurs. I will be combining this with the Name or characteristic given in this devotion for Focus]

... and this is not an easy one for today for our first one ...
maybe reading Rebecca's full, short devotion will inspire you

SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 4:2

"... In that day the Branch of the Lord
will be beautiful and glorious. ..."

Lord, How delightful it is to picture You as my Branch. I love the image that Rebecca painted in her grateful response "hovering", "towering" and "refreshing"! Thank You for the protection You give us as the Branch. Yet I see You as the Branch as the limb to which I cling to or climb to get up higher just like Zaccheus.

I'm thankful that You are with me as I climb, cling or better yet cross over closer to You. As the Branch, You bend just enough to make it easier somehow to stretch myself to the next step up. Thank You! I am grateful for how You branch my way to Our Father, making it possible to swing a little higher, a little closer.

Without You, I could not cross over into eternity. And for this, I am eternally grateful. As the Branch, O Lord, You are "beautiful and glorious", but for me, as the Branch, You have bent graciously to lift me above my troubles often and swing me up above the cares of this world ... You are a full Branch and in You, I seek Refuge, Strength and Covering, new growth each year and for this year of 2014 much fruit I pray ... mature me, O Lord and make me more like You. Thank You for being our Branch! Thank You for extending Your limbs for us!

How have you

DAY 30
Focusing on the Name
"God with us"

Isaiah 7:14
Isaiah 8:8
Matthew 1:20-21, 23

(as we focus toward the upcoming season or any season really)

He is

Thank You, O dear Immanuel, for coming to abide and dwell and live in us. Thinking of You with us, always brings me such joy and comfort! I thank You for each season that I can rejoice in You as Emmanuel. Immanuel, thank You for restoring, rescuing and redeeming our relationship with God. Thank You for coming as Emmanuel when our sins made it impossible for us to come to You. Open my eyes to Your Presence today as Immanuel!

* For more information on these 30 days of Giving Thanks return to Day 1. This is not a study on the "Names of God" but a daily offering of gratitude for this attribute and title/name of God for "they reveal His nature and His purpose and describe in perfection what our relationship with Him is to be" ... and with this in mind, we give thanks to God for who He is and all He is and does for us us He reveals Himself to us through this Name. This is similar to my Grateful 2/4 God on Thurs.

DAY 29
Focusing on the Name
Jehovah Ori
the Lord of Light
Light of the World
[My One Word for 2012]

Psalm 27:1
John 8:12
John 9:5
Psalm 119:105
Revelations 21:22-27

With today being "Black Friday" and all that entails, I was sure that the best name of God for today would/should be "Light" in the darkness of this world (material world) and just all the evil that exists (not just associated with "Black Friday" however ...) yet God's Light, that we need more than ever, needs to shine more brightly in this season. particularly on this day, the havoc that usually permeates our lives and the chaos that we allow to enter our lives, at a time when we should be seeking more hope, more love, more peace and more real JOY. I looked into the background of this day and why it came to be called "Black Friday" (briefly-because economically the stores moved from being in the red to the black as in beginning to make a profit, better explained by following the link) ...

When I saw this name as "Jehovah Ori" ... which I was not at all familiar with before (until I read Beth Gayden's book of "21 days ...), I just knew that Jesus was the Light of the World and how we are to shine His Light into the darkness. So I know God as Light, yet looking at the word "ori" gives this a deeper meaning still. I have to remind myself that this is not a study (lol) but a great time to give God thanks as Our Light!

"Jesus Christ, Light of the World, shine on me. Let Your Light penetrate and change me, helping me to reflect Your glory. May I be a light that leads others to You." Ann Spangler, Names of God Bible

Thank You Lord as the Light in my life! You are my Light and my salvation! I thank You that You come to me in the midst of the darkness and shine Your beautiful Light.

Thank You that You are the lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path! Thank You for directing me with the bright Light of Your love in times of darkness, loneliness or confusion. I thank You that Your Light illuminates my mind to see and understand more clearly in Your Word and in discerning things in this world. I will walk in Your Light each day with the assurance that Your love will carry me through each storm, each trial, each day, whether it's bright or dark, You are My Light!

Thank You Elohim, that in the beginning, You created the heavens and the earth, and then You spoke forth Light into the darkness in the world. This world still needs Your Light to shine brightly but it seems to be dimming more and more. Show us how to burn and shine with Your Light to the many in darkness. Give us Your Light each day to guide and lead us safely. Thank You that "this little light of mine" shines as I receive power from You, my Light source, my connection through Your precious Holy Spirit. Shine on, LORD of Light, Jehovah Ori.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today I am giving so much thanks to God
and thanking you for joining me this day by offering you
a Thanksgiving Gift
even if it's not by me, it's from me
a link to the Navigator's that I shared here back in 2010
Thirty Days of Praying the Names of God
(I wish I had discovered this again before I set out
on this 30 day venture)(lol) pdf link here

May this truly deepen and draw you closer to God as you
pray and focus on Him!

A very blessed Thanksgiving to you and yours!
DAY 25
Focusing on ALL the Names of God

OK, not all of the 600+ but at least the ones that I have shared, because I could not choose just ONE for this day. However, that did get your attention, right? You remember that I have shared long lists of names here once before like Day 27. It was in honor of God and a 500th anniversary here where I shared God's attributes. Then before that my 100th! That's the one that shared God's Names.

Sure, I may have chosen, Our Provider (Jehovah Jireh) but I want to focus more on His Gracious capacity of so many wonderful attributes that attest to Him as the great "I AM", the LORD Most High, the One who is, and was and will always be: the Living God, not just the One who supplies all our needs or gives us such a plentiful harvest or inheritance beyond our imaginations! God is more than just an instant "Pop" machine. God is more than Generous, Giving or Gracious!!! He's GOD!

I thought and thought of which Name might I choose on this special day of giving God thanks for everything and more! Just for WHO HE IS, as has been my emphasis this month and this year. Not on what He does or has done, but who He is!!! I have tried to experience God in all the various aspects of Who He is and His beautiful, wonderful attributes that He displays to me (and you) if you are seeking more of Him.

Finally I decided that this name of God would do best for today.

John 6:35
John 6:48-51

"Give us  today our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses (debts)."

Thank You Lord, You are the Bread of Life!
Yes, Jesus, I believe You are the Bread of Life.
I thank You for sustaining me with Your life giving presence!
May I remember this each time, I break bread or
share in communion with others.
Your Bread, You as the Bread of Life
and that You gave Your life for me!
Thank You seems so inadequate!
Yet I am truly thankful for You!
You are my daily bread each day.
As I draw near and read from Your Word,
I am nourished and so blessed, so fed, so full.
