"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

SOS ~ "The Rose Garden"

Back on January 12th, I shared a calendar "Gardens of Grace" with paintings by Thomas Kinkade, sharing an enlarged version of the 4th painting in that calendar, which would be for April (a perfect painting of a peaceful walk in a Garden with Jesus on a beautiful spring in full bloom) ...

... since this is still April, that should be the painting I share today, and my how I would love to take a walk with Our King, on a bright day in spring ... however, I have chosen the entrance gate to a particular part of this Garden of Grace ...

"The Rose Garden"
[by Thomas Kinkade]

... yes, "The Rose Garden" because it is filled with the sweet fragrance of roses, one in particular this SONday after the Resurrection - the Rose of Sharon (at least I think that is the one I see climbing up along side this gate to the right) the bright pink flowers seem to be clinging and inviting us in ...

"... am the rose of Sharonand the lily of the valleys ..." Song of Solomon 2:1 (KJV)

I read this quote from a tweet that Jennifer Rothschild shared this week and for some reason I held on to it as I contemplated on walking with Jesus in this garden ... through this gate ... with Jesus as the Gate (John 10:7-10) my Gate to HOPE (my One Word) John 10:7 and John 10:9 specifically

"Hold on to HOPE. But if you are weary, you can ask hope to hold onto you, because He is our hope!"~ Jennifer Rothschild 4/21 tweet

As I Soak On SONday

I'm pondering this season of winter

“Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion!… He gives snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes. He casts forth His ice as fragments, Who can stand before His cold? He sends forth His word and melts them He causes His wind to blow and the waters to flow.”~Psalm 147:12-18

"Glory of Winter" by Thomas Kinkade

and basking in God's Glory

2 Corinthians 4:16-18
"So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal."

"The Warmth of Home" by Thomas Kinkade

thankful for the warmth of home and our
in the final homecoming

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire. And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. For you will go out with joy and be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands.” ~Isaiah 55:10-12

Hebrews  11:1  "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."

{I couldn't decide so I included all of them}

Which of these images would you have chosen for
in the

I was reading a sample of a book by Ken Gire in which he wrote

"... images are ways of saying that our relationship with God goes through different seasons ..."~Ken Gire

I think most of us that have lived a bit would agree with this, but then he was more specific with each season having its difficulties and challenges, beauties and promise. I am sharing only the "winter" portion ---

" ... winter's cold and death ... winter's secret joy and HOPE ..."~Ken Gire
" ... In the winter season, God’s silence seems to resound across the lonely snow-swept plains. The long evenings, filled with thinking, sometimes regretting; the short days, almost not long enough to complete anything of value. It is a time of waiting, of reflecting, and of hoping. Yet through it all, a promise lies in the seed of new life, waiting to spring up and fill the earth with beauty in God’s perfect time."~Ken Gire
Although I am not facing right now MN winter weather, I have endured many, enough to know that this winter was a harsh one ... yet miles and miles away from there, in a rather pleasant SONshine, I still sense that I am in this "season of winter" --- "a time of waiting --- reflecting --- HOPING! Without having read this by Ken Gire, I may not have ever conceived of winter as a time of HOPE

So today, I'll be soaking in some of God's HOPE, and so thankful that I am not in that chilly, barren, freeze zone, but looking forward to that warm RAY of HOPE! like the ray of light that Thomas Kinkade is known for in his paintings ... listening and holding on to a dear old song and such a gorgeous artist...

"There is HOPE ..."

Thanks Greg Long
this took me back to when we met in MN at the
Music Conference and reminded me of this
{so glad I found a YT with it}

Cathy has written a beautiful hymn on HOPE also that I love over here ... as you'll see I have listened to it often ... H.U.G.

* I have plans for a different kind of a "winter journey" ahead, so this will be the last of my SOS and other regular posts while I begin a 40 day journey ... stay tuned. Hopefully you'll come along for the ride ... starting March 5th.

SOS ~ "Petals of Hope"

"Petals of Hope"
[limited edition artwork]
[by Thomas Kinkade: credit of painting]

"I sometimes visualize faith as a garden, where hope is in abundant bloom. In The Garden of Promise, we stood at the gate of that wondrous retreat. In Petals of Hope, we've entered the garden where the lavish blossoms dazzle the eye and the air is fragrant with hope." — Thomas Kinkade

This beautiful painting by Thomas Kinkade, once again, draws us into a Garden. This one that Thomas Kinkade himself saw as a core part in "The Garden of Promise" [another limited edition, that I'm sure I will share this year] "Petals of Hope", which is entered by another limited edition piece "Bridge of Faith" (all works by the artist of light).

I'm sure that you, like I have, held a beautiful flower in your hands, and found yourself plucking off each petal by petal, perhaps even reciting, "he loves me, he loves me not" ... but with each petal there was the "hope" that it would be "love".

As I start off down the path in the Garden of Grace or Promise, with my one word for 2014 held tightly in my hand, HOPE is on every petal, the blossoms of HOPE, the fresh fragrance in each breath, holding on to HOPE for the new day and what God will bring. The "petals of hope" that I am turning to are the promises or scripture verses on HOPE. Perhaps, the first place that many go to with their new word is searching for a definition, yet I choose to begin my search in the Garden of Promises of God's Word, in the Bible and at least the beginning of biblical verses that center on HOPE:each one a petal of HOPE

Starting off, with the 3 verses I have chosen

Isaiah 40:31

Hebrews 6:19

Romans 12:12

{I just decided not to narrow down my choices yet}

And although I am storing up so many other "petals of HOPE", a wonderful blogger friend sent me hers that she had posted, but the BEST part is to hear the music composed by her as well for many of these verses and also this special song she did "Hope of Glory". Cathy is a sweet fragrance of HOPE often for me and so is her music over at Melodies and Hymnsongs and WordSong Collections

Since I have images for the first two verses I chose (1) an eagle and (2) an anchor, it only seems fitting that I choose one for the 3rd verse from Romans 12:12, which I believe goes perfectly with the "petals of hope" painting by Thomas Kinkade

Thanks to all of you who visited last week and checked the REACTIONS because I had comments off, they are NOT off today but I do/did appreciate your visits. You bless me.

Today I join with other Word Filled Wednesday participants

Amydeanne @ the160acrewoods.com
Lori @ allyouhavetogive

My choice today also goes along with my WFW last week "HOLD ME IN YOUR HANDS" but it seems to be another fine thread that God's woven this past week with all of my posts like "CHILD of GOD", "ENJOYING HIS PRESENCE" with a "Jesus Calling" devotion, and also "WHAT BEING A CHRISTIAN MEANS" ~ Part 3. It even goes along with the new Bible Study that just started Monday, "The Invisible War" by Chip Ingram, which I shared about HERE (and may share more as I read and study along). Even as I look back, I can see His Hands at work and connecting this with others like "HIDING FROM GOD" (a sermon series started online at LifeChurch TV "Masquerade") ... God's aMazing!

Don't you love how God does that? ... puts and brings it all together for you on your blog. Maybe others don't see the connection, but as the author, (you) I sure do and I thank God's Holy Spirit as He moves and speaks to us through His Word, His gift to each of us, your gift shared with us the body of Christ united via internet ... absolutely aMazing!

There is actually a beautiful painting of this bookmark... but I wanted these words on it from:

Luke 23:34
[source: bookmark of AKIANE's painting
"Father Forgive Them"
available from Art and Soul Works]

[Since I am not sure of copyright on her aMazing artwork, and I really wanted to share the painting below (with her) and this verse, I hope sharing just her bookmark with the verse I chose for today, is not a problem. Her life can be read and visited at her site artakiane (dot) com/life or /home and you can choose from the gallery yourself or other tabs like /gallery.] You MUST go and see her extraordinary gift of painting since a very young age as well as her poetry. In her gallery, you can see the progression of her artwork from age 4 to age 15. I can hardly believe it! The following YouTube video has her paintings and her sharing on her inspiration but I chose to share the slideshow instead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLJ7j46ek3o
[You can click through this slideshow that gives a bio and than shows her artwork at each age... this one is about slide 19]

She painted the "Father, Forgive them" at the age of 9. If you click on any painting in her gallery, it opens into another screen of it and many are accompanied by a poem or explanation. The painting that I wanted to use at first, was done at age 13, called "LOVE" of Hands (God's hands to me) and images of the unborn... so I could add these words from Luke 23:34... (as I've done)
"Father, forgive them for they know not what they do..."

My first thought that came to me when considering this verse was to speak out through this verse from Luke 23:34 and put it together with "sins" of our age: poverty, abortion, social injustices, and than I came upon Akiana and her artwork. I just HAD to share her. (Maybe you all know her and have heard about her, but it was new to me and astounded me, her beautiful GIFT at such an early age and how God came to an atheist home). Not because ALMIGHTY GOD cannot use a child or birth such a gift in someone early, on the contrary, God knew that children are precious in His site and have great potential, before it is tainted by the world... and after as their eyes are opened. Here's the result of my thought:

[original source of the photo]
[I did add the verse around it]

When the idea came to me to use this verse with "abortion", for example... I was not choosing, "Father, forgive them..." because I truly believe and want every woman to know that our Heavenly Father does and will forgive us, if we come to Him; because this is not the "unforgiveable sin" (though we hold ourselves in contempt or guilty, listening to the condemnation of society, the church, the enemy... taunting us and causing us to keep our sin hidden, but Jesus just asks us to Come. But I chose this because of the rest of the verse, "...they know not what they do." With all the attention given to this issue, many would say that a woman must know, but the truth is we are deceived...yes, just like the first woman, Eve. We buy the "lies" from both sides. God holds these precious ones and YOU in His Hands of LOVE!

Yes, Our Lord Jesus says... "forgive them, for they know not what they do..." so if He can forgive us, than we must forgive ourselves; the circumstances, the weight we have carried; and Let it Go ... Let *Surrendering the Secret free you to FORGIVE and BE FORGIVEN *(this is a book by  Pat Layton and a great resource to begin your journey of healing).

On November 10th,  "FORGIVENESS" is the path I follow in my
