"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

S.O.S. ~ so many GOOD choices

It's been quite some time since I have shared any

{it's had different meanings}

but most often and lately

it has stood for

Study On SONday

(especially if it's posted Sun. around 6 p.m. like this)
however originally

A bottle with SOS washed up on the shore

was thought to stand for "help" as in "Save Our Ship" even "Save Our Souls" as a distress signal yet those were after thoughts (known as backronyms) yet on this blog, it stood for

with a song, scripture, scene and later added sermon and studies

but I have digressed from the reason I've not been sharing any

it's not because I am not doing any

nor that I don't have a song, scripture, scene or something that I'm soaking in/on

it's because I have too many and have gone in
too many directions
 yet somehow God is weaving them together
or else I'd be sending out a real
for HELP from
you and God
as I'm still being
(yes, that is the last study I began sharing
but have not kept up with that here)

Here are the sessions:

Click here for Session 1.
Click here for Session 2.
Click here for Session 3.
Click here for Session 4.
Click here for Session 5.
Click here for Session 6.

but I now have a worse dilemma:
I have two or maybe more that I have signed up for this summer
starting soon (I think) in June and
perhaps you remember that I paused midstream in

"You Are Free"
by Rebekah Lyons

(hoping I'd be able to get back to it and finish it)

so that I could start

"REDEEMED" by Angela Thomas-Pharr

mostly because I can't choose

when I read about the Online Bible Study

I'm sure it's the ONE that God is leading me to do until ...

I read the next one that comes along

after I already signed up

 one of these is one that I purchased quite some time ago

and decided that I couldn't do it because as I opened to the beginning, I felt that I needed the DVDs to go with the study to really be able to do it and now I'll have that opportunity so I don't want to miss out and because it's Lifeway's Beth Moore's:

A Study of 2nd Timothy

(which contains my life verse)

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." (NKJV) 2 Timothy 1:7 You see, God did not give us a cowardly spirit but a powerful, loving, and disciplined spirit. (TheVoice)

They ALL are so good and I'm thankful that they are being offered online
but not all at once ... yet truthfully, I don't think I've ever seen
a Bible Study that isn't good, just some speak to us more clearly
in the current season of our life journey and where we're at ...

so I guess this is an indication that I need this other one too

the other choice over at

Faith Gateway OBS

is an excellent one from another excellent author

Anne Graham Lotz

the wisdom offered through the book of Daniel, his prayer and

Anne Graham Lotz
who was Chair of the National Day of Prayer
(if you missed hearing her, I recommend strongly you check this out)

[the National Prayer]
plus over at You Version, I'm working through
and I have more saved to read

all of these helping me with

which one is for you?
which one do you think is for me?

Pray that I can receive from God what He believes is meant to guide me

And I can't believe that there is actually ANOTHER study that I must share ...(that's besides Margaret Feinberg's (Philippians) and Bonnie Gray's book club (Whispers of Rest) and probably others too) ... by another outstanding author with the OBS ministry of Proverbs 31: Jennifer Rothschild's "Me, Myself and Lies" ...  boy, oh, boy ... like I wrote above: too many really good and needed studies this summer and very difficult to choose between them for me. God's working overtime to offer so many ways to HEAL ... that's what these studies offer besides the actual study and content - ways to heal and grow beyond where you are with a better understanding of God's Truth. I'm pretty sure that "Entrusted" will take most of my 'extra' time, but I hope to follow along with the others as able.

Join our next Online Bible Study!

{beginning to think I really need Bonnie's on "...Rest..." after all this, so I ordered it}

S.O.S. ~ "... So I WAIT ... "

Image result for always remember 9/11

[Although I realized that this is a monumentally important day when I went to schedule this post ... my S.O.S. is not about 9-11 or the many lives lost, for nothing, in my opinion {and I've heard lots of conspiracy and other rumors about what really happened that day that sickens me about what may be the truth rather then what we were sold and told} yet most definitely there was a call of SOS this day in 2001 ... so all I can say is I pray for those who lost a loved one or still carry fear or terror about 9-11 and the horrible impact on so many lives plus the heroes who lost their lives ... I honor you! yet my S.O.S. is an actual Song in a video with some beautiful Scenes (with nothing to do about 9-11, yet something that personally speaks to me during this transitional time). However, I do believe that the United States of America is long over due about "falling on their knees" and crying out to God in repentance and such great need of acknowledging God as our authority! Allegiance to God, the Father: (not Allah, or Buddah, or other gods) Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son and the Holy Spirit - 3 in One God, not many.{'nuff said}

So I wait for You; So I wait for You

I don't know if y'all heard that while the east coast was being hit by Hurricane Hermine; this side of the world, in the East Pacific Basin(?) was being hit from Hurricane Newton (my personal meteorology theory: I'm pretty sure the currents stirred over in the Atlantic find a way to sweep across the Central American countries or even Mexico, to reform tropical depressions and storms that spiral into hurricanes along the west coast of Mexico, traveling close or far out on its way to Hawaii, but poor Baja California gets hit as it makes its way back out into the Pacific Ocean (yet sometimes, like this time, it crosses back toward the mainline further north, which would have been right on my travel route --- But God (or only God) so I WAIT ... became really paramount as I make decisions to head north and the timing (the when) ... fortunately I have to also have my van inspected mechanically and be sure it is sound for this last trip (plus some other loose end details to try and tie up). As ALWAYS, God is so good!!! even when it's tough, or even when we may be hurting or still grieving the loss of loved ones, or facing difficult health issues for ourselves or loved ones, Our God is faithful as we should be to Him! {oh, and I think I see another storm forming}

Please continue to pray!

not just for me but many facing 'storms'

I read this in my morning praise challenge and knew that this was the Song, the following are the Scriptures and this is what the author (Becky Harling) wrote from the heart of our Great Author and Finisher of our lives - the Great I am:

"My child, I understand how hard it is for you to wait. You long for Me to move more quickly and to answer your prayers immediately. When you feel irritated and annoyed because things are not moving fast enough for you, take time to praise Me. Praise will help quiet the apprehension you feel. Be still in My presence, and wait patiently for Me to act. I am fully aware of all of your longings and desires. Don’t take matters into your own hands. I am the Alpha and the Omega. I will move on your behalf at precisely the right moment in time. Thank Me that I am using delay to shape and change you. Often the longer you wait for something, the more deeply you appreciate it. Delay helps prune impulsivity from your life. Declare your trust in My timing. Choose to believe that I am on time in your life, your spouse’s life, your child’s life, and your friends’ lives. As you exalt Me, I will strengthen you to wait with grace." (Ps. 37: 7, Ps. 38: 9; Rev. 22: 13; Ps. 90: 12)

The 30-Day Praise Challenge (pp. 47-48) Becky Harling

"GOD IS OUR REFUGE AND OUR STRENGTH, a very present help in time of trouble  ... we will not FEAR. "
Psalm 46:1-2

we need not fear

God is in control!
{if only we'd let Him have complete control}
Perfect Word for me and Whisper
early this week on this somber

Becky suggests on this day that we begin our praise time today making a list of things we are waiting for ... Psalm 27:14 "...praising God that His timing in each of those circumstances is perfect. Praise Him that He is the Lord of all time and that He is working on your behalf, even when you cannot see Him. Praise Him that He will use the delays you are facing to shape you into the likeness of His Son, Jesus Christ." Love this praise challenge book especially the prayer part and each day beginning with "invitations" like the above from God, but of course, I hope to be sharing more of it later this year ... whoa ... not many months left to do that. Of course, many of you already know some of what I'm waiting for... so please share how I can pray with you for what you're waiting for.

Oh and one more confirmation came, making this a timely post addition on my "WAIT...ing" with "A Prayer for When You're Waiting" so at least I must be hearing spiritually a little better now, we'll see when I get home about my physical hearing (lol). But from that prayer site comes this image - adding my SCENE for completing this S.O.S. (song, scriptures, scene, sermon, series, studies ... Soaking On SONday) Enjoy yours! Sometimes on a "journey to change", one needs to open their eyes, ears, hearts and minds and get out of our comfort zones ... to see what change is necessary or what change is already in progress, if we just allow God to work, as we wait. And then other times we need to step out in faith to get that change started and do our part.~Peggy

S.O.S. Change ...

Changing my S.O.S. for today
I failed to get out a post when this new movie of
released on
August 19th, 2016
{August 12th for some Christian audiences}

Ben Hur (2016)
"Fight the Good Fight, Finish the Race"

... and so
I am making it the main feature for this last weekend in
{even if it's being declared a "flop" by critics, not for me}
as we know most critics view from an earthly perspective of

[Trailer parts]

Of course, I won't know until I get a chance to see for myself the full movie, but at least,
from the scenes that I've seen, I'd like to see it
and I am a fan of the original 1959 (or 1925?) classic
{remember I was but a mere child then but a really theatrical one}
however, I still would never compare them or pit one against the  other
{it's not my style}

{Here and here are two Christian reviews to keep the score kinda even}
and this
Archbishop José H. Gomez of Los Angeles, CA

Once again through You Version, I was able to escape and enjoy tidbits of this "Ben Hur" movie, through a 7 day (probably promotional) reading plan but I saw it as an opportunity to view glimpses into "Ben Hur" and Jesus. {you do realize that's why most critics have problems with this and that they are looking for some breath-taking Biblical Spectacular!!! for the big bucks}

from You Version reading plan

Ben-Hur is a story set in the first century when Christ was on earth. But it isn’t a story about Jesus. It’s the story of a man whose life Jesus keeps interrupting. Like any historical fiction, Ben-Hur tells a story of fictionalized characters but in an accurate, historical setting. The scenes of Christ’s interactions with this story line are of course fictionalized, but as you’ll see, hold very true to the nature of the very real Jesus of Nazareth we read about in the gospels. This plan will explore five movie clips each with commentary from a different Christian leader. But today we’ll watch a music video from For King and Country that sets the stage for the movie’s themes of love, forgiveness, justice, and redemption."

with these two readings from Scripture

Matthew 10:34-42;  Isaiah 2:1-4
so technically, this could be considered an
because I'm sharing vivid
via the movie, right?
now this
by King and Country

{this is from "Movie Clips" but it's the same one that You Version shares on Day 1 and is listed as "unlisted" so be considerate and think twice before sharing}

You can even enter

"Share your story of rising up and overcoming adversity"

"a trip for two to Israel"
(see caption at the top)

You Version Day 2 "Radical Love", Day 3 "Love as Revolution" (Rick Warren "Jesus Protects the Leper"), Day 4 "Mercy Triumphs Over Justice" {Yeah!} , Day 5 "Go and Do the Same" {that scene that the Archbishop above chose as his favorite} and Day 6 "Forgiveness and Healing", Day 7 "Back to You" is another song by Mary and Mary - by now it's time to see the full movie, don't you think? {I will have to remove the links to the videos soon}

Oh and while I'm at it, viewing wonderful Christian Cinema ... there is one coming for just one day in the theaters (so I hear) this September 20th that I hope I'm in USA by then so I can see it (most likely I won't be but I can hope) ...  I have to share it today so maybe you can catch it (for me) and I don't forget "To Joey With Love" - a beautiful tribute and compilation of so much love for Joey (MartinFeek by her dear husband Rory (his blog)

SOS ~ "Beautiful Messes"

Making this my blog's new theme song

to go along with the
Mazes, MESSES, Miracles
aMazing Grace

"Beautiful Messes"
Hillary Scott

Are you spinning in a ladder that keeps on telling you
That you're not good enough
And when you're looking in the mirror
Do you see someone impossible to love?

Full of fragile broken pieces
We're all rough around the edges

We ain't perfect no
We ain't even close
We got holes in our hearts
We got scars we don't show
But all that baggage we
Keep on dragging around
Anytime we start laying down

Lay it down at the foot of the cross
Give it to the one who can carry it all
Even at our worst, to him we ain't lost causes
Just beautiful messes

We're all David's we're all Mary's
We've been liars, thieves and everything between
But don't forget God used the misfits just like us
To do the most amazing things

So bring your thoughts, your flaws, your secrets
And watch him use those broken pieces

We ain't perfect no
We ain't even close
We got holes in our hearts
We got scars we don't show
But all that baggage we
Keep on dragging around
Anytime we start laying down

Lay it down at the foot of the cross
Give it to the one who can carry it all
Even at our worst, to him we ain't lost causes
Just beautiful messes

No matter where you are right now
Let thy grace come pouring down
It won't matter no
No it won't

We ain't perfect no
We ain't even close
We got holes in our hearts
We got scars we don't show
But all that baggage we
Keep on dragging around
Anytime we start laying down

Lay it down at the foot of the cross
Give it to the one who can carry it all
Even at our worst, to him we ain't lose causes
Ooh lay it down at the foot of the cross
Give it to the one who can carry it all
Even at our worst, to him we ain't lost causes
Just beautiful messes
Beautiful messes, yeah "

For the last 13 days I have been enjoying a You Version reading plan by Hillary Scott that goes along her new album "Love Remains". I did not know her or her music before but I sure do like this country western style of hers {as I've mentioned before with Joey & Rory, I'm not really a "country western" kind of gal, but little by little, I'm changing and learning to like me this "twang" and style...}. And I really loved the daily devotional but I made it even more special by listening to each song that went with that particular devotional and the scripture readings.

So today, I'm
Soaking On SONday
in the middle of some
"beautiful messes"
kicking-up my heels to some
country-western style music

Charreada at Lienzo Charro in Col. Juarez
Being a horse woman, this should be second nature to me

'cuz I sure do love me some dancing horses!

I'm not the only one that loves
to dance to worship
Our Lord

{keeps me out of all messes, beautiful and ugly}

makes me and keeps me
so aware of God's
aMazing Grace(s)

{I know my horses sure did, all 4 of them}

Speaking of "beautiful messes" don't forget about the online "Unashamed..." Bible Study starting up at Faith Gateway with Christine Caine and FaithGateway Crew; Laurie McClure, Jamie and Julie ... I promise, they'll be no horsing around, but lots of ... free-ing moments. More tonight.

"...is the title song from Laura's most recent album, "God Of Every Story", written by Laura along with Ed Cash (who also produced the album). The song is partly autobiographical; the man named Martin who is mentioned in one of the verses is Laura's husband. Martin was diagnosed with a brain tumor a couple of years after he and Laura were married. It was life-threatening, but God is the Great Physician. Then in September 2012 their first child was born, Josephine Grace. That's her all bundled up in the little pink outfit."
Thanks Laura for sharing this inspiring song! - Bob Marshall

I figure this is the BEST song and video
to finish off this last week
Laura Story's

"We are all broken, but we can have a better story. ..."
"... And a better story begins with using our brokenness." Laura Story

Of course, God is in every story
Yours, Mine
in case, you don't think so
really look
find Him
woven into every fabric of every piece

piece by piece

be a time to see

in every corner

I'm not exactly sure that today is the day
but something inside me
tells me that it was
the end of part
of my story
and the
beginning of another that
began about a week from this day
August 1st

*if you recall, I wrote previously here in July that this month holds moments to "Remember"
and others that I'd like to forget
but they were all parts of
My Story
more importantly

How appropriate
God would allow
Laura Story
this study, this song
to speak to me
and remind me that
God is with me and has been
in every facet of my story
He is still writing it
on the tablets of my heart with His

What a beautiful difference it makes
to have God in control of
every story

S.O.S. ~ "Perfect Peace"

... "Stay close by my side ..."

we've heard these Words earlier in

This is the theme of this week's online study with
Faith Gateway and Laura Story
Week 3

[image credit: faithgateway]

Prayer for the Week
"Oh, God, we love You! In the face of our most confusing, painful, crushing times, even if we have to say so crumpled in a pile on the floor, we say we believe in You and we know that You are good and Your plan is good. When You don’t answer our prayers the way we want You to, we wobble, we have questions, we may be angry, and we are so hurt that it’s hard to breathe. But, we still call You Lord and we trust that You lean down so close to kiss our tears away, weathering the storm with us, and giving us Your indescribable, inexplicable peace. Help us to cling to You even in our pain and to be glued to You until the day we see You face-to-Face. Help us to praise Your name even when You don’t fix it because we love You and You are our God. Our good and gracious and loving Yahweh. Thank You for never leaving our side, Jesus. We need You and we love You. Amen."Laurie McClure

* Laurie McClure actually shares this song in her blog this week
and the lyrics too.

God's PERFECT Peace

 "You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, all whose thoughts are fixed on You!" (NLT) Isaiah 26:3

I actually had this song for next week's SOS but switched with the one I had for this week so I'd be in sync. God's Voice will comfort and bring peace. When you don't listen to God's voice, peace alludes you ... and I've heard or read this so frequently it has become part of a fundamental belief I hold dear to my heart:

[image credit]

I so want to
believe that I do
as I

Soak On Sat./SONday

resting in His

I will dwell and cling to
God's Peace
especially for this week
that is why I had it for next week
but perhaps God wants me
to focus and fix all my
thoughts ahead of
time to remain
and trust in
His Peace
{not remembering what was before, but on what God gives fully always}
in Him

"Deep within every heart is a longing for peace!"

{I know I just read and saved something somewhere related to peace
that I hoped to add to this "perfect peace", but at the moment remains hidden}

"... ruminating on your my blessings to bring peace and calm to your my mind"

once again, this is a timely post that
I moved it up to this week with the tragic events
once more from LA to MN to Dallas, TX

Let's us PRAY, which also means ACT in peace and unity!

S.O.S. ~ "He Will Not Let Go"

"He Will Not Let Go"

S.O.S. ~ Longing for more "Grace"

... "If we knew the treasures that only came from walking through the valley, would we willingly choose the path that took us there?" ~Laura Story~

... "I ask you: "How many times will you pick me up,
When I keep on letting you down?
And each time I will fall short of Your glory,
How far will forgiveness abound?"
And You answer: "My child, I love you.
And as long as you're seeking My face,
You'll walk in the power of My daily sufficient grace.
" Chorus

This Scene is perfect for an S.O.S. and so is this Song. I just was not sure which song of Laura Story's would go best with this image {which reminds me so much of walking through the pines back home in MN, as if I had taken this photo}, but I do know that TREASURES and WALKING through VALLEYS will ALWAYS call for more of His aMazing Grace, so ... picking us up, when we fall so short of His glory, or letting each other down, or failing somehow in the MESSES we continue to make; does not necessarily mean that we would choose the path through the troubled times and the many valleys, yet without a doubt, we know that God's Grace will help us through and even help us discover some TREASURES while we're there but I think I'd prefer finding treasures on a beach or in the mountaintops ... however, I'll always be grateful for any treasure found in the valley ... in fact, I believe we even need to search harder and more closely in the valley for what treasures may be found as we continue to seek His face and more Grace

One of my favorite all time worship songs

with one of my favorite singers
Sandi Patty
from a 1988 album
"Make His Presence Praise Glorious"
{small correction in the video's beginning}
although I truthfully prefer "Presence", you'll see why

[image credit]

"I AM PERPETUALLY WITH YOU, taking care of you. That is the most important fact of your existence. I am not limited by time or space; My Presence with you is a forever-promise. You need not fear the future, for I am already there. When you make that quantum leap into eternity, you will find Me awaiting you in heaven. Your future is in My hands; I release it to you day by day, moment by moment. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow.

I want you to live this day abundantly, seeing all there is to see, doing all there is to do. Don’t be distracted by future concerns. Leave them to Me! Each day of life is a glorious gift, but so few people know how to live within the confines of today. Much of their energy for abundant living spills over the time line into tomorrow’s worries or past regrets. Their remaining energy is sufficient only for limping through the day, not for living it to the full. I am training you to keep your focus on My Presence in the present. This is how to receive abundant Life, which flows freely from My throne of grace." You Version Day 2 of 14; "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young
