GIVING THANKS CHALLENGE

I actually did not read about this CHALLENGE until November 15th, 2008 so

TODAY November 16th, 2008 is my official starting day I'M SO THANKFUL for:

16. BEAUTIFUL WALKS: My walk with You, my walks with my dogs...my walks along the Malecon, my walks along the beach, even my walks for exercise 17. Lakewood Community Church in Houston, Texas & their Worship leaders being on line on Saturday night & then the Spanish Speaking Service on Sunday with Marcos Witt especially

18. WATER: Bottled water here because when I open the spigot of my faucets in the bathroom or kitchen and see brown running water, it's clear I need a filter or bottled water for more than drinking. LIVING WATER that comes from reading the Word of God daily that flows from your mouth & bursts forth from His Spirit. Water to look upon in the Pacific Ocean or Sea of Cortez! I missed the truck that comes by selling & delivering the bottled water Monday and I was here. When I viewed that video in my WINTER post, I knew what a treasure WATER is & why!!!

Satan's Conference

Throughout the world, October 31st is an international celebration. It's known as HALLOWEEN, a shortened term for "All Hallows' Even" or hallowed evening because the following two days are Roman Catholic religious holidays, All Saint's Day (November 1st) and All Soul's Day (November 2nd) which in Mexico, since 1960, is known as "Dia de los Muertos" (Day of the Dead).

Some believe that it's origin is not just from the Catholic church but from the Celtic's as a pagan festivity known as Samhain (pronounced sow-win). For a comprehensive background, you can read here. Whatever it's origin or tradition is not important except to realize how it arrived to USA and your home or family tradition or even substitution of something else!

I am NOT writing to debate whether participating or acknowledging this festivity is good, evil or
against Christian principles. But I do want to present the fact that it's a family choice that's needs real understanding of its history and what I am presenting here as well as the reason for setting ourselves apart and not conforming to the world. Look at the above background article for all the "stuff" we do also...from jack o lanterns to trick or treat and consider your choice based on this.

Satan called a worldwide convention of demons.

In his opening address he said,

'We can't keep Christians from going to church.'

'We can't keep them from reading their Bibles and knowing the truth.'

'We can't even keep them from forming an intimate relationship with their Savior.'

'Once they gain that connection with Jesus, our power over them is broken.'

'So let them go to their churches; let them have their covered dish dinners,

BUT steal their time, so they don't have time to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ..'

'This is what I want you to do,' said the devil:

'Distract them from gaining hold of their Savior and maintaining that vital connection throughout their day!'

'How shall we do this?' his demons shouted.

'Keep them busy in the non-essentials of life and invent innumerable schemes to occupy their minds,'

'Tempt them to

spend, spend, spend, and borrow, borrow, borrow.'

'Persuade the wives to go to work for long hours and the husbands to work 6-7 days each week,

10-12 hours a day, so they can afford their empty lifestyles.'

'Keep them from spending time with their children.'

'As their families fragment, soon, their homes will offer no escape from the

pressures of work!'

'Over-stimulate their minds so that they cannot hear that still, small voice.'

'Entice them to play the radio or cassette player whenever they drive.'

To keep the TV, VCR, CDs and their PCs going constantly in their

home and see to it that every store and restaurant in the world plays

non-biblical music constantly.'

'This will jam their minds and break that union with Christ.'

'Fill the coffee tables with magazines and newspapers.'

'Pound their minds with the news 24 hours a day.'

'Invade their driving moments with billboards.'

'Flood their mailboxes with junk mail, mail order catalogs,

sweepstakes, and every kind of newsletter and promotional offering free

products, services and false hopes..'

'Keep skinny, beautiful models on the magazines and TV so their

husbands will believe that outward beauty is what's important,

and they'll become dissatisfied with their wives. '

'Keep the wives too tired to love their husbands at night.'

'Give them headaches too! ' 'If they don't give their husbands the love

they need, they will begin to look elsewhere.'

'That will fragment their families quickly!'

'Give them Santa Claus to distract them from teaching their

children the real meaning of Christmas.'

'Give them an Easter bunny so they won't talk about his

resurrection and power over sin and death.'

'Even in their recreation, let them be excessive.'

'Have them return from their recreation exhausted.'

'Keep them too busy to go out in nature and reflect on God's creation.

Send them to amusement parks, sporting events, plays,

concerts, and movies instead.'

'Keep them busy, busy, busy!'

'And when they meet for spiritual fellowship, involve them in

gossip and small talk so that they leave with troubled consciences. '

'Crowd their lives with so many good causes they have no time to seek power from Jesus.'

'Soon they will be working in their own strength, sacrificing

their health and family for the good of the cause.'

It was quite a plan!

The demons went eagerly to their assignments causing Christians

everywhere to get busier and more rushed, going here and there.

Having little time for their God or their families.

Having no time to tell others about the power of Jesus to change lives.

I guess the question is, has the devil been successful in his schemes?

********************************************************************* Now for various reasons, I need to be aware of this but the main reason is that God told me that where I live in Mexico, and various tourist sites are part of why I have been called to serve in this area. Two summers ago, on my way back from Minnesota to Mexico, God was speaking clearly to me about this issue and Human Trafficking. That is the reason, that in my sidebar under Women & Children, I have sites listed that deal with this issue. I knew nothing about this so that's when you know it's GOD speaking. For one entire year, God poured in confirmation after confirmation so I began researching and door after door opened. I knew the area here that was of most concern. So if I, a Christian woman not seeking any of this knew about this how much more readily available a man/woman partner would know that is seeking this adult entertainment. I began to seriously intercede the moment that God revealed that I should be concerned about a ministry in this direction. Almost immediately, I became aware of "PROJECT RESCUE". Though it's not in Mexico, it should be and one day, by the grace of God, it will be! One of the first confirmation, upon my return was in the local news that spoke about a "bust" on an establishment with someone under 15 working there. I was devastated! The next confirmation, came from another news report of a out of town tourist that came here after "chatting" with a young women...she was a 10 yr. old but had lied about her age. And the story goes from there. The Lord began to clearly give me a heart for "Somebody's Daughter". "The "special report on commercial sexual exploitation of children in the Federal District" confirms that there are at least 20 spots in Mexico City where these illegal activities flourish, under the protection of corrupt elements in the police force." "Although there are no figures on the extent of the phenomenon in the capital, an estimated 16,000 girls and boys are victims of sexual exploitation in this country ..." "International organizations fighting child sex tourism say Mexico is one of the leading hotspots of child sexual exploitation, along with Thailand, Cambodia, India, and Brazil. "... Many girls and boys are lured to Mexico City from small towns or rural areas by criminal networks, through false promises of domestic work or other jobs. "But the problem is not limited to Mexico City. Commercial child sexual exploitation is also found in tourist resorts like Acapulco on the Pacific and Cancún on the Caribbean, as well as in cities and towns on the borders with the United States and Guatemala. " [MAZATLAN is the same] "In the impoverished southern state of Chiapas, children are sold for as little as 100 to 200 dollars, according to human rights groups. That area is considered one of the worst places in the world in terms of child prostitution." UNICEF, the U.N. children’s agency, estimates that around two million children around the world are sexually exploited through prostitution and pornography, which is the third most lucrative illegal industry in the world after drug trafficking and weapons dealing. God is crying out for us, the church, to stop this, to become aware, to save our homes, and more importantly SAVE OUR CHILDREN. We must be on our knees crying out for God's mercy & stop playing church and ignoring the problems that are plaguing our world, get out of our comfort zone and hear the atrocities that are befalling the world & always leads back to the USA!

Usually I choose a contemporary song or one that God has touched my life with during the week. But today I have chosen a hymn. A great hymn with a great story. Now since I don't know how to do this, I've given you 3 links below. The first two, will give you the words or background of the hymn. It's instrumental so you can sing along with the lyrics! I was going to copy them & place the lyrics here so you could really look at the meaning and the words. But copyright concerns me... I'm going to try this NEW MEME today other than my FRIEND FEATURE on FRIDAY because I just found this one and believe it will work well to honor my BLOG FRIENDS weekly! I think this is acceptable for their MEME! Why reinvent the wheel? It's a whole new group of friends for me, although I recognize some names from Thankful Thursday, Word Filled Wednesday or Then Sings My Soul Saturday. It's very creative and versatile.
