"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

The verse in context (because many of us know the preceding)

FORGIVING RAPE TWICE FOREVER

There are 10 WORDS OF WISDOM for WOMEN given like this from About.com by Karen Wolff:

(3) * Be an example of Forgiveness (the one given below)

"The ability to forgive quickly is a very powerful way to show how Christianity really works. Become a model of forgiveness. Nothing creates division, hostility, and turmoil more than an unwillingness to forgive the people who hurt you. Of course, there will be times when you are absolutely right. But being right doesn't give you a free pass to punish, humiliate, or embarrass someone else. And it most certainly doesn't eliminate your responsibility to forgive." ~ Karen Wolff

ARAMAIC (noun)
a: FORGIVENESS IS NOT, AS GREEK PHILOSOPHY TEACHES, PARDONING OTHERS.
b: IN ARAMAIC, FORGIVENESS IS AN INTERNAL, SELF HEALING TOOL.
><><><

I read in a review of a booklet by Pastor Denny Hodge's "Spending more time with God" that one of the results of spending time with God is:
We Will Become More Forgiving

"We can't spend time with God and not become more forgiving. Because we have experienced the forgiveness of God in our lives, He enables us to forgive others. In Luke 11:4 Jesus taught His disciples to pray, "Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us." (NIV) We are to forgive as the Lord forgave us. We have been forgiven much, so we in turn forgive much."

*******
There have been two horrendous experiences of the same nature with RAPE in my life: as a budding teen and then 20 years later. Perhaps these experiences impacted me in more ways than I know. But I do know that "forgiveness" was a key factor in the major healing needed.

FORGIVENESS is a crucial key of letting go and moving on. There is healing power in forgiveness. It takes away the power from the act and places it on the restoration. The act of forgiveness (for me), (was) and is NOT synonymous with condoning the hurtful event or behavior, nor does it mean I will forget what happened to me. Forgiveness simply means that you (or I) understand that holding on to anger and pain doesn’t do you (or me) any good. As soon as we can release these feelings and free ourselves from the negative energetic connections to this event, the place or the person, you have achieved forgiveness.

There are times in everyone’s lives when it feels hard or even impossible to forgive. Most of us realize the need for forgiveness in order to achieve a release of negative feelings and move on with our lives in a positive direction, but it is often difficult to truly allow ourselves to heal from past emotional injuries. But in order for us to move forward, we must forgive.

The first occurrence of rape, I was naive and understood very little about the pain that had just been inflicted on me or the impact or even why I was bleeding. I remember grabbing my clothes quickly, pushing and running into the bathroom, locking the door, and leaning my back against it, while I cried & ran a tub of water...promising my intruder that I would not tell and "I forgave him...just leave me alone." The "forgiveness" was just words but I learned that it needed to become a matter from my heart to make it real. To make a difference in my life, forgiveness was needed to release me so I could heal.

I soaked in that tub of warm water, hoping it could cleanse me or I could wipe away all the pain and all I was feeling inside & outside. I knew than and I know now that it was Jesus who held me, washed me, cleansed me and healed me. He kept me pure in my heart though I no longer could claim my purity, He restored my purity in my heart. I soaked in His loving arms and I left my troubled heart there.

There comes a time in the healing when you not only need to forgive the perpetrator, but those who did not protect you or keep you from harm as well as your self. It is a long road to recovery and mending the brokenness. As I thought about not being protected by someone, I realized that they really had no idea of the incidence so how could I hold anyone accountable. It's just that inside, you want to be clean and feel protected, and cleansing comes in the forgiveness.

There was no reason for shame, but I struggled with this inside. There was blame, but not for long. I was not mature physically, because I was little and a late bloomer. There was no real understanding of the repercussions this one event plays in molding you. It was not continuous, yet you wonder to yourself, as damaged goods, what is it in you that caused this to happen. You wonder and question all justice, all suffering, all purity, any innocence you once thought you owned...gone. It is said that one who is abused sexually or at a young age violated, that they have two courses they generally follow in life; one of hardness, where prostitution is a means of escape or reclaiming, and the other choice is to close down, become very reserved and never learn to freely give oneself to your lifelong partner. Not very great options! I was neither by the grace of God but I know many of my problems came from this.

When it occurred 20 years later, I was devastated, because it was in my own home and my children were home being home schooled. Yet this time, I was not naive, but still could not stop this person from violating me. I fought and resisted, evident to my doctor, by the tears inside of me. I lived in fear, locking my gate & house for months, crying inside for no apparent reason except knowing this violation was not the first time and wondering why once more. I was led to forgive again. The circumstances and the person do not matter, what matters is being released from the negative influences on me, my psyche, my spirit, my value. This is why I was in counseling with my pastor, on this very topic, to lead me through the steps of forgiveness that I needed to experience and be free from all hindrances, so I could walk in victory over the darkness in my life.

I became a volunteer crisis phone line/prayer counselor, director of a center, and teacher with a wonderful ministry in the Twin Cities area, to help other victims through prayer but instead of receiving calls from victims, the LORD allowed perpetrators to call in that I needed to pray with...which ended up teaching me true forgiveness.

We also had a ministry program on television, that I was asked to participate in as one of the counselors, but the person for that evening was unable to show up to discuss the topic due to inclement weather.

So the ministry director asked me if I knew anyone or anything about someone who had been through a rape, because that was the topic and he had a former, delivered rapist, but the rape victim was not able to be there. So I appeared that night on t.v. with the rapist and our director, as the interviewer, where for my first time, we openly discussed my experience and his, but what was there, more than us and our stories, was the power of forgiveness, grace & God's divine intervention.

I hoped that no one I knew would be viewing that evening, except the victim or perpetrator that needed this from God. But as it was, people from my church tuned in. Now what I had not shared with many, now many more became aware of that hidden part of my life and there was a sweet outpouring of love in response to me. What they mentioned to me that allowed me to see God's grace and power was that, they did not just hear what happened, but how God flowed from me with His love, acceptance and mostly FORGIVENESS. I praise God that He showed up in a big way and transformed my pain into His gain.

Why do I share this? I share this as a way to glorify the Greatness of Our God & the Freedom of FORGIVENESS! I am so thankful that God, my Divine Protector is, was and always will be there with me...for HE NEVER LEAVES US nor FORSAKES US. He can change both the perpetrator and the victim with HIS GRACE & FORGIVENESS when it flows freely from the throne and fills that empty, shattered or cracked life. Both of us needed healing. His GRACE for me is no different than for the offender. I'm so thankful we can both go to HIM!

These are the steps of forgiveness, in brief, that walked me into Christ's victory (if you need more on this, the books by Neil T. Anderson are the BEST in my opinion):
  1. Ask the Lord to reveal to your mind the people you need to forgive. Make a list
  2. Acknowledge the hurt and the hate. As you work through the list of people you need to forgive, state specifically for what you are forgiving them. Also state how their offenses made you feel. If you bury your feelings, you will bypass the possibility of forgiveness. You must forgive from your heart.
  3. Understand the significance of the cross. The cross of Christ makes forgiveness legally and morally right. The heart cries, “It isn’t fair! Where’s the justice?” It is in the Cross.
  4. Decide you will bear the burden of each person’s sins. This means you will not retaliate in the future by using the information about their sins against them. All true forgiveness is substitutionary , as was Christ’s forgiveness of us. That doesn’t mean you tolerate sin or refuse to testify in a court of law. You may have to do that for justice to prevail. Just make sure you have forgiven that person from your heart first.
  5. Decide to forgive. Forgiveness is a crisis of the will, a conscious choice to let the other person off the hook and to free yourself from the past. Your first concern is to receive freedom from your past and stop the pain. Make that decision now; your feelings of forgiveness will follow in time.
  6. Take your list to God and pray the following: “I forgive [name] for [list of offenses] and [how they made you feel].”
  7. Destroy the list. You are now free!!! Your need to forgive others is between you and God only!
  8. Do not expect that your decision to forgive will result in major changes in the other persons. Instead, pray for them.
  9. Try to understand the people you have forgiven, but don’t rationalize their behavior.
  10. Expect positive results of forgiveness in you. In time you will be able to think about the people without triggering primary emotions. It means you are free from them. Old feelings may try to recycle themselves. When that happens, stop and thank God for His provision and don’t pick up those old offenses again. You dealt with it; now let it go.
  11. Thank God for the lessons you have learned and the maturity you have gained as a result of the offenses and your decision to forgive the offenders.
  12. Be sure to accept your part of the blame for the offenses you suffered. Confess your failure to God and to others and realize that if someone has something against you, you must go to that person and be reconciled.

Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.
I'm starting with my neighborhood and families and then proceed to the community at large followed by the government and leaders:
Prayer:

Lord, You are God of heaven and earth, and Lord of all the nations. Every person, and every family owes their well-being to You, and You alone are the source of all blessings.

I want to see my neighborhood be blessed Lord, and I know that You work Your blessings through the family. my neighborhood is just a bunch of families trying to live together in harmony and prosperity.

I’m asking for a special blessing on the families today Lord. Send forth a decree over my neighbohood that today would be a family day. Send a wind of peace and harmony Lord, over the families. Let this be a day of renewed relationships, and gratitude for family members. Strengthen the foundation of these families Lord as a channel of Your blessings for my neighborhood. In Jesus name...

ONE REASON...

Debut album Chynna and Vaughn "ONE REASON" released on September 22, 2009
just this past week:

Chynna & Vaughan formed a creative partnership based on their mutual passion to share the hope of Christ with a hurting world. Their debut release, One Reason, conveys themes of redemption, forgiveness, and hope with a musical canvas of authentic, organic, and honest instrumentations and harmony-rich arrangements.

I lost You a second ago Why are you in such a hurry when we just need to take it slow It’s a struggle to keep up the flow All caught up in the worry when we just need to let it go Let it go
I’m a fighter and I don’t like to quit But I got orders from Heaven (orders from Heaven) And believe me I’m listening, I’m listening
Jesus tell me again What’s it gonna take to sink in That You’re my one reason When the world comes crashing down on me So hard to see That You’re my one reason
Here in this prison is the key to this heart Throw down Your anchor of mercy Hold me steady through this part Nobody said it’d be easily done Wrapped in the eye of the storm There’s a message for everyone Everyone
It’s harder to do nothing than to do something Harder to do nothing, nothing, nothing And believe me I’m listening I’m listening
Jesus tell me again (oh yeah!) What’s it gonna take to sink in That You’re my one reason (One reason) When the world comes crashing down on me (Comes crashing down) So hard to see That You’re my one reason
At the crossroads Need to unload At the crossroads Need to unload I’m at the crossroads Need to unload I’m at the crossroads crossroads crossroads
And believe me, I’m listening, I’m listening
Jesus tell me again (oh yeah!) What’s it gonna take to sink in That You’re my one reason (One reason) When the world comes crashing down on me (Me) So hard to see That You’re my one reason (You are my one reason)
Jesus tell me again (Tell me) What’s it gonna take to sink in (Sink in, sink in) That You’re my one reason When the world comes crashing down on me (Comes crashing down oh) So hard to see (So hard, so hard That You’re my one reason
Jesus tell me again (tell me, tell me, what’s it gonna take) What’s it gonna take to sink in That You’re my one reason (My one) When the world comes crashing down on me (On me) So hard to see (That You’re my, You’re my) That You’re my one reason

Chynna Phillips says of the single, “This is a song about the busyness of life. All of us have an incredible task balancing daily activities with cell phones and email devices attached to us, and often times it just seems impossible. The lyrics of “One Reason” ask us to put the Lord first, amid the craziness, and remember that He is our one reason for life.”

THE BATTLE IS THE LORD'S

I originally had this song videos post for later in October, but with ALL the prayer & warfare going on and needed, especially for the sweet family of ANDREW, son of Melanie and Dan @ Bella Mella, that I dedicated my TSMSS songONE TOUCH by Nicole C. Mullen yesterday...so today is the day for our battle cry! We will stand together firm in faith for MIRACLES! Now is the time!

I will be praying along with you all though not via conference call...well, kinda, cuz I'm calling the same place...direct line to JEHOVAH ROPHEKA, the LORD Andrew's Healer...Melanie's Comforter, the family's STRENGTH and LIFTER of their HEADS! TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
[this is part of a prayer I posted at the Lighthouse of Prayer for Healing]
Jesus, I recognize You as the One Who heals. You are the Great Physician. I bring ANDREW before You, and I ask for Your healing touch. I bind all fear and the spirit of infirmity in Jesus Name.
I recognize the authority of Your shed blood, and I establish that as a banner over Andrew’s life right now. I loose Your peace (that surpasses all understanding and guards their hearts and minds) over ANDREW. I ask that Your will be done and that Your kingdom come in this situation.

Please send Your Holy Spirit to work in ANDREWs family, bringing a greater witness of the reality of Jesus to those that are saved and those who are lost. Redeem this circumstance for Your glory because You alone are worthy!

You are sufficient. Nothing is impossible. We ask that the infection leave in Jesus Name and along with it, all pain so that all headaches end NOW. Kill off all cells that do not belong and restore the good ones to full strength to combat the unseen. We believe for a miracle for ANDREW in Jesus Name. We speak LIFE to ANDREW, strengthen his spirit, mind and body...help him to fight a good fight, a victorious one. By Your stripes, ANDREW is healed. We exalt You, as his HEALER! Thank You for all You are doing for each member of the family. Thank You for the wisdom and compassion that You are ordaining the perfect steps of each medical person involved! Bless each one! May this build their faith in You! We give You all glory, honor and praise for healing ANDREW and we thank You now and forevermore. This battle is Yours LORD! We call on You to go before, along side & behind ANDREW, his mother, Melanie & his father and the entire family giving them peace, comfort, assurance, strength, wisdom, divine power, endurance and even JOY! May ANDREW's smile return to brighten their hope in You!

Here's an article from RICKY MARTIN FOUNDATION (RMF) about a recent event that I'll bet not too many are aware took place just this past week (if you click on RMF you can read more about what they are involved in combating this as well):
"Ricky Martin Fights Human Trafficking at Clinton Summit"
New York, NY – "When Ricky Martin took the stage at the Clinton Global Initiative on Thursday, he did not sing, or dance, or even flash his trademark grin. Following the same stage directions as dozens of other celebrities who dropped by Clinton's 5th annual global summit, from Brad Pitt to Bono to Jessica Alba, Martin struck a somber note while discussing the fight against human trafficking. "I feel that my heart is going to come out of my mouth," he said, recounting his sadness for the "millions of children that didn't make it." Martin was followed by testimony from a woman who, along with her two children, was kidnapped and held for four years of forced labor. Then Luis C de Baca, a former counsel to Rep. John Conyers who now serves as President Obama's chief diplomat for combating human trafficking, explained that between 12 and 27 million people are enslaved around the world today. In its official materials, The Clinton Global Initiative notes that the higher estimates mean there are more people enslaved "than at any other time in human history," though that's the kind of factoid that says more about population growth than the scope of the problem. But the numbers are daunting by any measure. And the policy experts who huddled on Thursday stressed that many obvious measures to combat trafficking are simply not being applied. About 90 percent of countries do not have dedicated police units for investigating trafficking, according to Clinton's organization, and many governments simply look the other way. Only one out of three governments around the world provide basics like emergency phone lines for children and families who do not know where to turn when faced with a kidnapping. While just about everyone is against slavery, on Thursday several panelists advocated a "different kind of capitalism" to punish companies that support forced labor at any point in their supply chain. Some American companies have agreed to boycott suppliers that use forced labor, as the International Labor Rights Forum's Tim Newman has documented, but not all. (He credits Wal-Mart, Target, Levi's, Gap, and H&M for boycotting Uzbek cotton produced through forced labor, for example, while Fruit of the Loom did not.) President Clinton personally highlighted the fight against human trafficking by giving a "2009 Global Citizen Award" to Ruchira Gupta, who made the Emmy-award winning 1997 documentary Selling of Innocents. She went on to create an organization that combats sex trafficking with education and preventive programs in India." "
WE CANNOT BLIND OUR EYES ANY LONGER TO THIS, IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY AS CHRISTIANS TO TAKE A STAND AGAINST CRIMES that VICTIMIZE THE INNOCENT

"Give Me Your Eyes"

This weekend was also:

4th Annual International Weekend of Prayer and Fasting for the Victims of Sex Trafficking - September 25-27, 2009

Since 2006, The Salvation Army and the Initiative Against Sexual Trafficking (IAST) has sponsored an International Weekend of Prayer and Fasting for the Victims of Sex Trafficking. In 2009, the Faith Alliance Against Slavery and Trafficking (FAAST) joined as co-sponsor of this annual event.

The Salvation Army, IAST and FAAST sponsor this event first because we ardently believe that success in the battle against trafficking comes "not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit" (Zechariah 4:6). We understand that in this battle we wrestle "against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms" (Ephesians 6:12).

God is the most effective weapon against the slave trade.

"Let’s unleash the most powerful fighter, defender of the oppressed, champion of good and enemy of evil. Let’s join together to pray to God daily for the abolition of modern-day slavery.

God is the most effective weapon against the slave trade. This statement may raise the argument that God allows this evil to continue, but it is not a valid argument.

As C.S. Lewis wrote in Mere Christianity, “If you do not take the distinction between good and bad very seriously, then it is easy to say that anything you find in this world is a part of God. But, of course, if you think some things really bad, and God really good, then you cannot talk like that. You must believe that God is separate from the world and that some of the things we see in it are contrary to His will.”

Sex trafficking is against His will. He established moral absolutes, good and evil, and sex trafficking is definitely evil.

Without my faith in God and His control, I would not want to come to work on some days because the fight would appear hopeless. But I know He is in control, that His hand guides anti-trafficking efforts, and that one day He will deliver justice for all of the victims. But until that day comes, I encourage you to join me in prayer."

Pray for the victims. Pray that they will have a hedge of protection around them. Pray that they will have one less client to service that hour or day. Pray that they will be spared a beating or a rape. Pray that they feel God’s love and presence and that they feel hope. Pray that their rescue is imminent. Pray that they will be freed and their lives will be restored, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Pray for President, the band of senators and representatives, and for non-governmental organizations working to abolish slavery. Pray that they will continue to fight the good fight. Pray that they will have the resources to continue the fight. Pray that they will be successful in their efforts and in getting their message out to every person in every nation. Pray that they will influence governments to do what is right and to punish traffickers and johns.

Pray for the State Department’s Trafficking in Persons’ office. Pray that the staff will be encouraged to continue their hard work compiling information about trafficking problems and efforts to eradicate it in nations around the globe. Pray that their efforts to hold these nations accountable will bear fruit.

Pray for those who use slaves, be it sexual or labor. Pray that they will be caught and convicted of their crime. Pray that they will acknowledge their sin and repent. Pray that they will turn their desires from evil and toward good. That instead of benefiting from the enslavement of another human being, they would rescue and restore the enslaved.

Pray for the pimps and the traffickers. Pray that they will be convicted of their crimes, punished and held accountable. Pray that they will be convicted in their heart and soul of their sin, and repent. Pray that they would use their knowledge of the trafficking trade to expose it and destroy it. Pray that they would use their ill-gotten gain to make restitution to the people they enslaved."
