"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

"REDEEMED... " Starts Today

April 20th through June 1st, 2017
(videos every Thursday at LifeWay)

Redeemed - Bible Study Book
(from the author of this)  AngelaThomas Pharr

"Hey everybody!!
I’m so excited to begin REDEEMED with you this coming Thursday, April 20th. If you don’t already have your member book, I hope you can get your hands on one soon. Check your local LifeWay store, LifeWay online or my website to get your member book.
On Thursday, you’ll receive the link to Video 1. It’s my version of an introductory video to set up the content and style of the study, then we’ll begin the first day of the workbook on Friday.
I’m gonna try my very best to interact with you everyday. I’m not sure I can respond to all your comments or questions, but I’ll do what I can that day! While we’ll be doing this study together, our daughter is expecting our first grandchild, one child will graduate college and three others will finish their spring semester (Read: Will need their mama to help them move home and then help them pack and get to their summer commitments). Just like you, we’ve got a lot going on! And with children, the month of May just seems to cave in on top of you. All the more reason to take a little time with our Redeemer everyday!
Please don’t worry about getting behind, or not staying right with all of us. I’ll try to post my comments with a clear reference to the day of the study I’m referring to.
LifeWay has tried to make this area easy for you to use, so that you can comment to one another, interact and encourage one another, etc. I’ll post my daily comments here and also on all of my social media outlets.
This is my first-time hosting one of my studies online, so I’m excited to walk these next six weeks with you. Please know I’m praying for you. My husband, Scott, is praying for you. My friends who pray for me are praying for you! This is gonna be fun, but more than anything, I’m praying for God’s power as you spend time in His Word and in His presence.
The Redeemer keeps redeeming our lives until we see Him face to face. May we all keep being redeemed.
I love you so.
{taken from the comments of the sign-up post and also her blog}

I'm not sure how this all will work yet
even though I hold the book in my hands
but the first place
I believe I need to begin
(besides reading the Intro and viewing the first video)
is by defining

  1. 1
compensate for the faults or bad aspects of (something).

"a disappointing debate redeemed only by an outstanding speech"

synonyms:save, compensate for the defects of, vindicate

  2. 2.
gain or regain possession of (something) in exchange for payment.

(but Day 1, gets into this in her book)

And in case, you're not able or convinced yet
that this is a Bible Study you need and have not signed up

Please look at the rest of the title ...
(or even the book description)

"The moment you accept Jesus as the Lord over your life, you are redeemed
As the redeemed, we experience a lifelong journey
of being transformed into His image ..."

After the beautiful two page introduction, Angela begins her book with "Preparing for 40 Days"  - "I CAN'T" ... first let me go back a bit into her Intro ... the words that leaped off the page to this soul thirsting for change and a beautiful, grace-filled walk with Jesus - inspite of the disastrous day-by-day struggles, I want to live a life that's being "redeemed" and changed (her words) "to connect your very real, everyday life with the very, real presence and power of God". Angela continues:

"Here's all I know: When those two things intersect, lives are going to change. Healing will happen. Prayers will be answered. You will know God even more intimately as Your Redeemer."

See the words that are meant for me or stood out!
I know you do!

{...whoa-o-o feelings" remember that song?}

... not the FACTS, not even FAITH ...
will be my Focus throughout 2017

yes, I do realize that

Image result for facts, feelings, faith
"Faith is the engine of the train that pushes us through life. The coal car, which is what keeps the engine running, is the facts of God’s word—TRUTH. And the caboose is our emotions ..." {the order on the image is the correct one but this description is still good}

Since the One Word that God has impressed upon me for 2017 is HEALING ... today's the perfect day to begin dealing with "feelings" ... because emotional healing is one of the biggest areas that I need to work on or allow God to work on, in me. All of my life, I have been emotional and probably emotionally immature, so there's much work in that area. I'm pulling out a book I began or did back in the early 90s ... along with the workbook (except this time it's in my Kindle, the real one was fuel for the fire that totaled our house back in 2013 with countless other books) ... I need "HEALING" from poor choices, wrong choices and hurtful outcomes ...

Image result Cover art

There are 12 chapters, so I'll be working in the background on myself slowly ... a chapter a month but in both books. The first chapter (after the Forward and Preface) is "Damaged Emotions" ...

"Dr. Seamands (the author) has since expanded his earlier ideas into a book that blends clear biblical theology, solid psychology, and practical common sense. He writes about anger, guilt, depression, inferiority, and perfectionism— that constant and all-pervading feeling that we are never “good enough."

Matthew 8:17
(which comes originally from Isaiah 53:4-5)
Romans 8:26-27
"the healing of memories and damaged emotions"

will be my

first focus

"...certain areas of our lives need special healing by the Holy Spirit. Because they are not subject to ordinary prayer, discipline, and willpower, they need a special kind of understanding, an unlearning of past wrong programming, and a relearning and reprogramming transformation by the renewal of our minds. And this is not done overnight by a crisis experience." ...

... "What is our part in the healing of our damaged emotions? The Holy Spirit is, indeed, the divine counselor, the divine psychiatrist, who gets a hold of our problem on the other end. But we’re on this end of it. Just what are you and I supposed to do in this healing process?" ... David A. Seamands, "Healing for Damaged Emotions" (pp. 23-24). David C. Cook. Kindle Edition.

Dr. Seamands continues by stating this is the purpose of this book and he suggests the general, biblical principles to find healing for damaged emotions:
  1. Face your problem squarely ...
  2. Accept your responsibility in the matter ...
  3. Ask yourself if you want to be healed ... (John 5:6)
  4. Forgive everyone who is involved in your problem ...
  5. Forgive yourself ...
  6. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what your real problem is and how you need to pray ...
{if only our "healing" was so cut and dry; it'd be so easy-peasy and we'd be healed, but we know that healing is a process and it takes time... trust me, I've been at this for years}
..."The Holy Spirit knows where to tinker. We do not know what we ought to be praying for. We often do not receive because we ask for the wrong things. As you read these chapters, ask the Holy Spirit to show you what you need to know about yourself, and then to guide you in your prayers."...
... from "Healing for Damaged Emotions Workbook", by David A. Seamands.

..."Today many Christians struggle with emotional pain that is deeply rooted in the past. This unresolved pain manifests itself in “overextended” patterns of living. We OVERwork, OVEReat, OVERcommit, OVERspend, OVERspiritualize, and OVERobsess about love and sex. ... Christians are not exempt. We must face the reality of our pain-filled past if we are going to proceed through life in a healthy way. That is what this workbook is all about. It is designed to help you find your way back to a place of balance by giving you an opportunity to take an honest look at the painful experiences of your past that have left you emotionally scarred in the present."

I am long overdue in living a healthy, balanced life!

It's time for some healing

as I spend time set aside
offline each Friday
with our Lord
I pray
"by His Spirit"

healing will begin

January 20th
marks a
new beginning, a new birth
from the past for me
a fresh start
"the broken way(s)"
 pieces of my life
I truly wish the one who celebrates
his birth day this day
would realize
his need
much healing
mostly the salvation of knowing
Jesus as His Lord and Savior

I have no words
to pay tribute or honor
to this person
as I should

my heart is broken
so hurt

I will forgive
pray that forgiveness
truly enters and pierces
his heart so healing
erases the past
that has driven
such a wedge
between us
that only

it seems so impossible
so impenetrable
so irreconcilable
with God
"nothing is impossible"

Will you pray this day for him,
his salvation and his healing
before he no longer is given
this blessed opportunity?

and pray for me
as I heal

Thank you!

This book review is establishing my direction for

... it's the rest of this book's title that captures my attention and interest to read it ...

"...Daily Appointments with God for Physical, Spiritual, and Emotional Wholeness"

Thanks to Tyndale, this is a real book, not a virtual ebook that I can
actually hold in my hands, day after day, like the beautiful one
I so enjoyed this past year by Chris Tiegreen
(also from Tyndale)
"The One Year: Hearing His Voice"
"Book of Healing"
{was waiting for me when I arrived home from MX}
is one I intend to read more meticulously for 2017

" Dr. Reggie Anderson, author of the acclaimed memoir "Appointments with Heaven," knows it can’t be predicted how God’s healing work will come to pass in our lives and hearts . . . only that it will. As a country doctor who has had remarkable experiences attending people in pain, Reggie wants you to see what he sees every day—that whatever your sickness, whatever your hurt, God is alive and active in your life. He wants you to be truly well, even if that looks different than you might expect. Rich in story and inspiration, The One Year Book of Healing will reveal the many ways our Savior heals and intervenes in the lives of the sick and the hurting—giving you the faith, hope, and patience to believe that God can do the same in your life."

Although "The One Year Book of Healing..." is the first book that I have read by Dr. Reggie Anderson, I was familiar with his previous book, "Appointments with Heaven," and had heard much about it, so I was intrigued and so ready for this book. "The One Year Book of Healing" is an inspirational book to read daily God's "prescription" for the day with encouraging, heartfelt messages that on many days give personal stories of healing or a message from Dr. Reggie Anderson.

I enjoy the set-up of this devotional especially. Each month starts out with a monthly "Checkup" and a "Booster Shot" - God knows I need the 'check-up' part more than the 'shot'. So the book is clearly divided into the twelve months, with a devotion and reading from God's Word each day. The monthly checkup is an overview of common experiences: such as October, where I started, sharing gifts of kindness and setting goals; whereas January realistically speaks of our interior life, because January can be gloomy but gives us a time to prepare our hearts for renewal; or what we might expect that month physically or emotionally.

Each monthly "Checkup" introduction gives us a spiritual monthly challenge "to enhance our relationship with God." I really like this motivation and the various sound ideas given. Dr. Reggie Anderson clearly does give us what his objective is: "to help us see God through fresh eyes". I look forward to giving these a try but he also leaves us free to adapt or replace his suggestions if they don't work for us. The "booster shot" is meant to encourage us to better and healthier lifestyle - "greater health and wellness" (are his words).

Each day before the devotion, the book gives us a Scripture and we are encouraged to have our Bibles to go further and read in context to get more understanding. The personal stories from his own life and  medical practice are all true but, of course, the identity and privacy of the patients are protected. I appreciate that Dr. Reggie hopes that these stories demonstrate that "God is always present in our pain and suffering" and that his patients will amaze us with their "stories of how their faith has grown, even when their prayers weren't answered the way they hoped."

After each day's devotion, Dr. Reggie writes a daily Rx ... offering us a "suggestion for something we can do or consider" to feel better, grow stronger, or draw closer to our Father. Then as I love, he closes in prayer. {you know that's my favorite part in any daily devotional, it serves to focus my prayer and I use them usually as a prayer starter} ...

I am sure that reading this daily will inspire me and encourage me; after reading this for an entire year page by page, that these rich stories will bring testimony to God, hope in healing, and most definitely "reveal the many ways our Savior heals and intervenes in the lives of the sick and hurting" - this most certainly will give my faith a boost, stir up my hope and teach me a bit more patience to believe that God can do the same for me and my loved ones as HE has done for the others in this book.

I truly believe that this book - "The One Year Book of Healing" - holds the hope and the healing that I desperately need, even still and now in my life journey, of God's healing touch on my life. I'm only giving it 4 out of 5 stars on my recommendation, yet by the end of 2017, I should probably give a post review to see how this book has served its purpose of inspiration and healing that I can share with others, who also need a touch of God in their circumstances ... and the increase of my faith and hope in God, our Healer, Jehovah Rapha, for HE is alive and active in our lives (even if and when we don't feel or see healing) God is undeniably at work, for He most certainly wants us to be "truly well, even if that wellness looks different from what we expect". As I pick up this book, look at the beautiful cover of flowing, healing water and in colors that invite me to turn the pages and find the testimony, scripture and prescription that promises to do a deep work in me as I'm challenged to allow God's healing.

In fact ... I have decided that this

Do you really believe this?

Isaiah 53:5

Last week, in the midst of Holy Week, I stumbled upon this and quickly copied and pasted the info in the box below, thinking I'd get back to watch, read, listen to some or all of them ... but it was I who jotted down that question as it pierced my heart.

Video MESSAGES from

The cross of Christ is a beautiful symbol for you as a Christian. Though it was an instrument of tor…
The violence Jesus suffered ended violence eternally. It was this lack of peace for our Savior that…
Jesus was crowned with thorns so that we could be crowned with glory. By his wounds, we are healed&m…
Because of Jesus, you are declared not guilty in God's courtroom. Jesus' condemnation sets ... "

I could not remember why or how I came upon these messages from "Time of Grace Ministry" because I do not know them, or the pastor or anything about them; so I figure it was from one of the You Version reading plans I was looking through for Holy Week. Yet having asked myself that initial question, it lingered with me throughout the events of Holy Week ... and I recalled when I memorized this verse, claimed this verse and so wanted to see the truth in these words. It actually was on two separate occasions with two very dear people to me, both in my family. One, my youngest brother, did not receive his healing on this side of eternity, but I do believe he received the ultimate healing in heaven by Jesus Himself ... because once we leave here and arrive in heaven, those who believe and have placed their trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we spiritually arrive at a heavenly place of no more tears, no more pain, no more suffering... {it's really "no more nights" ...}. And the precious other one, well, she's still here ... and so for the time I prayed, and prayed claiming this verse for her, she was healed. It does not mean that she has had "no more" health issues however, she was healed and I gave thanks to God, for her healing and I thought she had also.

So do I believe that "by His stripes, we are healed" ... a most definite "yes" ... however, the healing may not look like what we think it should and it may not be this side of eternity.

I have felt and seen Jesus bring healing to me when He knows that I am in pain, suffering or not trusting to see any medical person here and God goes to work, He does His Healing and I truly know that He's touched me and saved me quite often, by me just laying my hand on the 'spot' and asking in Jesus' name. I also realize that there is some deep healing going on in me and needed in me ... but I do believe that I am in a process of that healing. All healing is not for physical issues, sometimes the healing that's needed is emotional or spiritual. Sometimes, I believe that we are a complicated 'mess' and one is connected to the other; so the healing that we need seems like a complete overhaul ...

As I mentioned recently, I am reading a few books, and in some ways, each one is dealing with healing that I need, but one stands out that I strongly believe I need ... for emotional healing ... referred to in the book as "EA - emotional abundance" and I am sure as I cling to every word in this book, it will BE life CHANGING for me ... not just for "Peace for a Lifetime ..." but for the rest of the title "... Embracing a Life of Hope, Wholeness and Harmony through Emotional Abundance" by Lisa Murray. WOW! Not only is that a mouthful, but it's power-packed with so much that is needed by me.

Now, the book by Holley Gerth that I am sharing on Mondays with Holley's Book Club is also dealing with some "healing" issues in me and for me but not like this book but the two certainly make this an awesome, on-going process, somewhat overwhelming at times. As you work through the LifeGrowth, Holley has parts from Your Life Coach ...and I already feel like she is ... aMazing as Holley is, and I was or am becoming again.

So, even though, I am not currently in need of "healing", God is doing a "healing work". Not physical ones that can be seen or felt as in lessening the pain ... but spiritual ones, and mostly emotional ones that are surfacing. Usually unseen when they are spiritual or emotional but they manifest in other ways.

I just happen to have gotten Lisa Murray's book, through a recommendation of a new special blog friend, Lori Schumaker, {can't wait to tell you about why she is special} through Kindle Unlimited ... but have since found out that if I do not continue Kindle Unlimited, I will loose all the books I found and have added from there to my collection. As you can tell, I don't want to loose Lisa Murray's book, so I have added it to the top of my wish list for when I get my new April shower funds :).

UPDATE: (special from God and Amazon, maybe Lisa too): yesterday, I was blessed to get this book and you still can too at a really great deal (March 28 and 29th, 2016). Now I considered just deleting the above but I so wanted to show how GREAT God is and how He hears us and answers!!! I'm WOWed by this, really!

I ended up at Lori's blog for a giveaway that she was having on Holley's book ... and Lori graciously has sent me both books of Holley's, via DHL from Amazon {never knew they would do that, she must have a special connection. Well, I'm sure she does - a heavenly one, as evident in her writing.} and I wasn't even the winner!!! Because I did not think I could get both and had to decide/choose one or the other, I had asked Holley, and maybe even Lisa "which one is best for me to get?"; Life Growth Guide (needs to be written in, so Kindle would not do for that) - lol - or the original "You're Already Amazing". I am so thankful that Lori, without even knowing me, responded in love and I received them just in time. in separate packages, so I never even expected the second. What a wonderful blessing!

Maybe Lori sensed or saw my 'need' or a wound in my comment and she was sensitive to the Holy Spirit and responded. I certainly was not looking for this ... but I so wanted to join Holley's Book Club and now I can with REAL books in my hands.

I often try to present myself as all-together (huh?) Not anymore {are any of us?} I wonder ... usually I look around Blog land or online and see so many in my estimation that seem to BE.(sigh) I use to BE! or I thought I was (double ha) but I also use to BE very needy and broken. So out of that neediness and brokenness comes some mighty fine healing. As a result comes a willing heart to help others find healing in Jesus' arms. I was hoping that my 'wounds' were no longer so apparent or showing ... but I guess not. I thought my 'wounds' had become scars and almost had forgotten about many that seem to be surfacing now.

So you can be sure that not only will I continue with my new Life Coach, Holley Gerth but I will be with Lisa Murray also {and will be acquiring that book by the time my Kindle Unlimited trial ends, because it's a definite keeper} And this isn't even a book review book. As you can tell, I am highly impressed and inspired by Lisa, Lori and Holley ... to name a few, but I know some pretty aMazing other sisters in Christ that have continued to encourage me after all these blogging years ... Sharon, Karen, Denise, Cathy, and you (whoever you may be, reading these words) ... you see, that's all it takes to start the 'healing' in someone. You never know what weight your words or prayers carry. But ... no matter what, believe ...

By His Wounds

I am healed

... then hold on and watch as God begins a new work and a continual healing that will one day be finished for eternity ...

“Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful part of us.”
David Richo ...
