"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair."~from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

APOLOGY to READERS who followed a SEARCH to HERE & didn't find it

On July 18, 2017, I drafted almost 3000 blog posts that I had published since 2008 when I began blogging, rather than edit each one. So if you clicked here from somewhere else and ended up with the post unavailable or error, I am sorry but this is why. It'd be too much work for me to go back and fix them. There's an explanation on 7/19/17 as I'm still learning.

LISTENING

"Speak Lord, Your servant is LISTENING!"
1 Samuel 3:9-10

This image actually could have been one from me,
here this week, out in my 7 and a half acres of pine trees,
gazing up and allowing the Son (sun)
to shine and filter through the other "noises" around -
mostly in nature as I take pause & reflect
as I truly tried to focus on

LISTENING

- but the image is not mine

nor does it seem to be so easy to pause & reflect

and truly

LISTEN

to hear God speak

to listen to others

or to block out

all the noise(s)

stealing our attention

waking us at all hours

alerting us to take time

and

really LISTEN to God

for God

what is He speaking to us

individually and collectively

I am desperately trying to just hear

GOD

and so I've been really

LISTENING

searching for any

WORD

from God

Hoping to discern well

to hear His Whisper

above my fear

above the clamor

above my own thoughts

above what others are blasting so loudly

Oh Lord, how I wish to block out the evil and all that's happening

in our world, in our nation, in my personal sphere

in me

Yes, Lord

"I am Your servant

and I am

LISTENING"

SPEAK LORD

{this has been consuming me all week, perhaps too much}

So I write and wait for Your Holy Spirit

to enlighten me & help me to

HEAR as I LISTEN

and

  1. Such a beautiful and serene image ! I echo your thoughts and feelings on this past week. Listening….and that poem! So convicting yet so true as we “attempt “ to listen and do what our Lord would do….i fail miserably and daily 🥺

    1. Me, too! Don't you think we all do at one time or another in our human weaknesses & frailties?

I'm glad that you found that image to be serene so that you get a glimpse of this earthly place I live, and a taste of how beautiful it can be when the Son shines in as one day we will see in that glorious heavenly place! "Today I will Listen" helps me to know how much I need to improve but also realize how much our Lord really does Listen and the wonderful way that He does - with hope that I will do better in my attempt to Listen well (the last part) because with others, I am sure that I do much in that first part. So I will practice for when I meet you, because there is so much I want to hear from you (and I will need to Listen with attention, respect, humility, patience, etc.). Hopefully in the years left on earth, I will improve.
Thank you for sharing and listening so well to me, through our writings. Sometimes, I think it might be better that way (cuz we can edit but I often don't & should) yet we can express & think, which I fail to do when I speak. So much to work on still. Listening being one of the most necessary, especially as hearing fades with aging. I thank God that I still can hear the sweet songs of the birds outside & listen to music to calm my heart & spirit. I treasure the songs that come to you & you share them so I can read and SEE God right where He's meeting you through The Blue Book by His sweet Spirit. Sometimes I need to search to find so I can LISTEN to how God is speaking words of comfort, peace, strength and grace with His unfailing love that He has for each of us. I imagine Him singing those lyrics as He stirs them up in your heart & much more. He delights in you so much. And I have been given the blessing to delight in knowing the Jesus in you & you (bit by bit) a little more. Let's keep listening to each other in written one words, verses, songs, thoughts & feelings shared. OK, sis?
